I have read replies to problems similar to mine, but I don't understand most of the things to try. At this point I have 3 Firefox icons on my dock, none of which will launch the browser. I have been to Applications and tried to uninstall by dragging Firefox to trash and get a message that you can't drag it to trash while open.

Can't quit and therefore can't install. I wanted to reinstall Firefox.

Have you tried to turn off the computer and turn it back on then try to move it to the trash? Do you have "Open at login" enabled for Firefox?

The computer wouldn't shut down as "force quit" on all the Firefox icons didn't work. I pulled the power cord out, then replaced it and the three Firefox icons were gone. Then in "Applications" I was able to move Firefox to the trash. Thank you so much for your help. It is appreciated. Yankey
