Also have tried 3 different graphics drivers, currently running latest Nvidia.

Could you submit other crash reports that currently do not have a bp- prefix?

If a line on the about:crashes page doesn't start with "bp-" then click the line to submit the report and the link will be updated and gets a "bp-" prefix if the report is submitted successfully.

It does seem to be related to the graphics display driver.

Did you try to boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Hi--here are the other reports (there are several in the first post without the BP but I will add more) have run all the malware programs and rootkit already, and tried windows safe modeas well. eeb18fcd-d3e9-4fd7-abba-ab57956e0acf e9df9078-a99d-44d9-8957-484c7d729d17 af1da434-4659-42fd-bf6b-c902a5e378f9 9/4/2015 12:01 PM 3e50a89a-11fe-4c47-adae-b1d83537d36a 9/4/2015 11:49 AM 52d530c1-9b20-476e-acbe-cc73d1fdbfc7 9/4/2015 11:46 AM e5debd7f-00e2-4235-8976-a46c164fa5f7 9/4/2015 11:24 AM 22b32f30-b9e4-4c96-be04-cbebf59fb940 9/4/2015 11:04 AM 8461812f-d1d8-4f68-8ea6-92a37f8ce474 9/4/2015 10:47 AM 35415a88-3e4b-46ee-833f-b824d6b4b633 9/4/2015 10:23 AM a5a067e3-d8e1-49ee-81eb-a0da7e231126 9/4/2015 1:58 AM 9b8a761e-6777-4c95-8d37-6aef8b081edd 9/3/2015 11:29 PM 95c6d566-a478-4445-b38e-c576a8f5497e 9/3/2015 10:53 PM 32073ae7-eacc-4eae-b779-863110e4e6ff 9/3/2015 9:09 PM e8344ce8-59a6-4b5e-b5e5-89b0b2808b89 9/3/2015 9:05 PM 30b2db84-c4dd-482a-a1df-bef681e9ff6a 9/3/2015 5:25 PM c00e48c1-4c72-4a21-9524-0b2b504aaf11 9/3/2015 5:00 PM 3e3697f2-367c-47ae-9266-c6a9991c9732 9/3/2015 4:13 PM 22934817-be7b-46db-8eb7-ff0b8a89b5ed Thanks so much!

Only crash reports that start with bp- are of use. A crash report that doesn't start with 'bp-' hasn't been submitted to the Mozilla crash server. As I wrote above, you need to click a crash report that doesn't start with 'bp-' on about:crashes to submit this report. If the report has been submitted successfully then the report will get a 'bp-' prefix and you can inspect the report on the Mozilla crash server site (crash-stats.mozilla.com).

This forum will automatically linkify a crash report that starts with bp- as you can see in the first post.

This supersedes the bp report in my first post

You can check for issues caused by plugins and set plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page.

  • plugins are not affected by Firefox Safe Mode

Did you try to disable protected mode in the Shockwave Flash plugin?

Hi--yes have tried all those already. Just installed Nvidia driver from 2010. Thanks *so* much for taking the time to trouble shoot this, I'll continue to focus on the graphics driver if you think that is the issue.

Thanks to those who tried to help. Since co-rel mentioned that it was likely to be a driver issue, I focused on that. I have an Nvidia GT 240, which is perfectly fine for most computing. I can imagine that upgrading the card might have solved this particular problem, but what I did was to install a driver from around the time the card was made. Managed to get through a whole day without a crash for the first time in months.

I'm not marking this as "solved" since installing a *really* old driver is probably not a great idea. But I'm writing this down in case someone has an older card, you might need to really turn the clock pretty far back to get FF to work.

Obviously, even with WHQL certified drivers, FF has some issues, and maybe there needs to be a list of recommended cards and drivers for FF, since other browsers don't seem to have this issue. Also, earlier versions of FF did not have this issue, so something has changed as far as Nvidia compatibilty.

Anyway, happy I don't have to change to Chrome.

So sorry, meant to say cor-el!

Based upon the limited research and support threads that I viewed in a number of support fora that I did back in April & early May 2015 when I was looking for a video card for a new PC that I was building for myself - Nvdia seemed to be the most problematic brand, at least concerning Firefox. AMD/ATI based cards seemed to be the least problematic given my parameters . I installed an ASUS built AMD Radeon HD 6450 Silent which cost me < $50 USD - HDMI, DVI, and VGA compatible ports.

Yes, it is possible an earlier version of Firefox may not have had a problem. Mozilla is tweaking the graphics core in Firefox with almost every new version to attempt to make graphics performance better in Firefox overall. But like with many things, two steps forward sometimes has one step backwards included.

Thanks very much for your recommendation--I may make the switch to ATI!

ATI was acquired by AMD in 2006, so the AMD name usually appears before mention of ATI, if ATI is even mentioned at all - Radeon was the chip family name used when ATI was started in 2000. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radeon

It is possible that AMD has other "family" names for its graphic processing chips (cross-licensing and such) - so I think Radeon is the name to look for to get away from Nvidia when "shopping" for components for D-I-Y builds or mods.

Sorry that I wasn't clearer about that before.

No worries! Cheap as chips.
