Problem installing latest Java
I am running Windows XP, am perfectly satified with it and have no interest in paying Microsoft for their latest bloatware. Firefox now gives me
Java Runtime EnvironmentNext Generation Java Plug-in 11.31.2 for Mozilla browsers vulnerable 8.0.31
Clicking on the appropriate link, I download jre-8u45-windows-i586-iftw.exe, but when running it I get the message
Java 8 requires a newer version of Windows. You may continue with the installation, but for Java to work as specified we recommend upgrading your computer’s operating system. Please refer to http://java.com/sysreq.
It may require it, but it ain't gonna get it from me, so this recommendation is rejected! What are the problems with running on XP? Is my only option to just keep on with Plug-in I have?
