Why does the new update now automatically put my uid/pw in the box? Previously, I had to click on the box. This is a security risk.
The latest update in Firefox now automatically puts my uid/pw in the boxes. Previously, I had discretion because they did not display unless I clicked the box. Now anyone who uses my pc (even family), if they "just happen" to go to my bank or other personal sites, the information is displayed. Even though the pw is "starred out" it makes no difference because it's automatically displayed. My concern is that the additional security of "not appearing to be there" has now been taken away. This was not a well thought out update.

You can toggle signon.autofillForms to false on the about:config page.
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

You can tell Firefox not to save passwords, or alternatively, create a master password to lock your Firefox down. Protect your Thunderbird passwords with a Primary Password Password manager - Remember, delete and change saved passwords in Firefox
This was a change to not allow websites to block you from having your login information saved, now Firefox will just do what you have told it to do, not what other websites want.
I understand that I can tell F/Fox not to remember my pw's. My problem is that I do not want the uid/pw "pre-displayed" simply because I go to the site. This is a recent change that needs to be reversed.
