Any chance you have the Ghostery extension installed? The extension has been causing problems that sound like that for a few release versions now. If you have it, disable it and see if that problem goes away.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

i have Ghostery, & i find it necessary add, blocks unwanted stuff that Addblock Edge wont block, & if any suggest NoSctipt, its bad cause it block video players to, so can't watch videos, unless i white list the hole page,Ghostery has more options, i tried it once, quite a while back, i don't know any add as good (or better) as Ghostery

this issue started after update to 36!

if you depend on ghostery too much to disable it (though there would be various similar alternatives, firefox is also working on built-in tracking protection), another workaround would be to switch on the new firefox preferences interface which will place the preferences menu within a tab: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.preferences.inContent. double-click it and change its value to true.

the build in seems to not block all that i marked for blocking in ghostery, & i haven't found anything that come close to ghostery, example the options when u click on ghostery icon & it give u list of stuff that u can block on this current site for example, build in blocks only what is in Mozilla black list or how to call it, some adds have to meany options that even i don't know about & others don't have almost no options & work same way that firefox build in

What about Disconnect? It also does blocking of tracking. There is also Privacy Badger. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/disconnect/ https://www.eff.org/privacybadger

u know animeultima.tv? there is annoying chat box there to with pop sound each time some1 say's something, Disconnect & meany others i have seen do not block it, but Ghots blocks it (maybe Addbloc edge has the option to block it to, but its just a example), i do not know any way to add it to the neither, just installed DC, if i don't have control over what i want to block & what i don't want to block it makes it less secure, it has its on blacklist in it & block all that are in that blacklist, DC creators should add more items to block in there, they should take Ghost as example & add more control over the things u can block (u chose what u block), that why i'm not sure about adds that have less control over what i want to block & what not, or are so meany pointless things added to ghost block options what are no threat at all & DC only has important stuff?

that makes me hesitate

when i click on requests & mark it, dose it mean that i allow tracking or disable tracking? green ones are automatically blocked items?

Privacy Badger is in beta, & first time hearing about it

is this almost same https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/privacy-badger-firefox/?src=search?

its icon did not appear like in here https://addons.cdn.mozilla.net/user-media/previews/full/135/135248.png?modified=1398994341

does this add work same way https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/privacy-defense/?src=search same issue, icon does not appear, it makes me think it wont work

With regard to the Clear History: If you clear cookies, that will clear all cookies. If you want to stay logged in and not have to do that again, do not check that item. I clear Active Logins, and it seems to make no difference. Why is Site Preferences still in that list? It makes very little sense to me to clear all preferences if one has trouble with only one of those things. I actually removed that from the Clear list for Firefox, using my userChrome.css file.

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.

Active Logins apply to logins that you do via a pop-up like you get when you log in to an FTP server.

It doesn't apply to a normal login that uses cookies to authenticate you once logged on.

One solution is to just disable the ghostery add-on if you need to change something in options and then reenable it again afterwards.

Or type the following in a tab to open the options up in a tab as this works even with Ghostery enabled:

about:preferences

You can get the about:preferences page instead of the standalone Options/Preferences window by toggling the browser.preferences.inContent pref to true on the about:config page.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

i said to some1 above who also suggested to turn on that foxes build in tracer blocker that u mean, that option blocks whats on firefox list, but ghost gives me option to control what to block, i can decide what i block & what i won't block, i want to have control like i have with ghost, i hope ghost gets fixed or that some1 creates new add like ghost

the browser.preferences.inContent preference has nothing to do with tracking or ghostery - it changes how the firefox options panel is displayed (and incidentally that is in a way where ghostery doesn't interfere by showing a blank screen) - so just try it out...
