Firefox does not ask me if I want to store a password for sites that do not have a stored password. I have stored passwords for several sites but can't add or change any passwords.

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Never remember history).

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • Deselect: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
