This morning Thunderbird asked me to update which I duly did. Once done all messages started disappearing from inbox. Eventually I found them and moved them back to inbox only for it to happen again

Have now tried 3 times, same result, every single email from Inbox keeps being moved to deleted in Local Folders

All new emails that have come in since appear for a micro second in Inbox before being moved to Deleted

This is obviously not a great situation to put it mildly and as it has never happened before and started straight after this morning's update I can only assume that the update is to blame

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I thought I had opted for the release channel. But after a recent update, it seems I'm on the beta channel. I'm using a laptop with Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, Tbird was installed as a snap, and is updated automatically via snap. However, when I look at Help/About, the image says Beta.

When Updating from v68 to the next version up, the sub-folders I had on my 2nd email account (POP) all disappeared on the left panel but still exists on windows explorer as I can see all the files.

1. Using v68.12 with 3 Email Accounts (POP). I only download 1 email account from Network Solutions for the past 5 years. 2. Email 1 - name2.domain, Email 2 - used when Soccer Coach, Email 3 - everyday email I get downloaded from Network Solutions. 3. When I tried updating years ago, from v68.12 to the v 78s or so, all the local folders I set up under Email 1 disappeared but the folder structure remain on the hard drive. 4. If I move the files out, then in Thunderbird, right click and create the folder again called Email - BW the folder is created and blank. 5. Then I shutdown Thunderbird and move the files back and then when I go back into Thunderbird I see some of the folders. 6. If I repeat this process, I see some of the folders and I don't see other. 7. I am trying to export the data out of the Email - BW folder, but the Using IMportExport NG in v68 doesn't match up with the version with Thunberbird v153. 8. Do I need to try to load Thunderbird 78 and try to import the files? I have the data file. I have the msf file I have the folder.sbd file It just doesn't show up on the left panel? Help Please.

The latest Snap update on my Kubuntu laptop is marked as a BETA version. I haven't selected the BETA stream, and I checked and snap seems to be pointed at the stable version.

I like to keep track of changes at each install and there's no Release Notes available.

Is this an error at your end or do I need to change something to get back to a stable version?

I have had a problem the last few months with my power/sleep settings in Windows being reset to "Never" and it appears to happen when I get Thunderbird updates. Have I done something incorrectly?

I've often wondered what the point of 'extended support release' (I think) really means. It sounds retrograde. Should I switch/upgrade?

Your last update included a Yahoo signup splash screen. Please remove it in the next update. It is annoying and does not serve any purpose other than ccnect me to Yahoo web mail. If I wanted to use that service, I sign in for it. I am content with using Thunderbird. Or at least give me the option of removing it myself. Thanks.

brought up the computer today and all the email boxes were messed up. had to re-sign in on all of them and some still wouldnt work, some wont send and some wont receive. WHAT HAPPENED!!!! its all messed up all of a sudden, and why does the password saver convert all the passwords to gobbledegook, some encryption, instead of the plain english i put in it????? i cant used that encryption mess to sign in with, i have alot of email boxes and cant remember them all,. how is this going to get fixed???

Just updated to the latest version 153. No drag and drop ... message shown is 'Unspecified Error'. I made no changes when updating to this latest release. Appreciate some guidence. Thanks

Thunderbird did update while Thunderbird was running. Notice no new emails a few hours later. Icon changed to text picture and all folders showing. Received request if I wanted text icon removed? Said yes. Everything gone. Went to program file, x86 file and only file in Thunderbird visable last nigher were update logs. Now gone, everything in Mozilla maintenance folders gone.

Appdata shows 8/10 profile. Mobile email link to Thunderbird down, not receiving.

When I up dated the latest version of T.B.. when switching form the index desk top page to read the email, the page is blank EXCEPT for "SWITCH TO: EXTENSION" displayed at the top of the page

The T.B. icon is not is not displayed

I see 153.0 (the first release) is marked as ''esr'. But from 153.0.1, there are both esr and release. I would be great to understand the reason behind this approach.

my thunderbird freezes at the point of checking mails. when i try to update it, it opens a new application completely and doesn't update my present one. i also can't find the location of the app or the data. pls help!!!

I can't get Thunderbird to stop updating. My installation is currently set as follows:

Settings > Updates > "Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them."

That was done around the 21st July, and the version=152.0.1. I was never prompted to update. When I checked today (27th July) version=153.0 and Settings remains the same (as above).

The setting is being ignored. Is there a workaround? Like setting up my installation to deny access to something. (Maybe, like if the update process needs a certain directory to be present, remove the directory.)

I am trying to switch from the ESR channel to the release channel. I have Thunderbird 143.13.0esr and am trying to upgrade to 153 (not ESR). When I upgraded, Thunderbird could no longer find the inbox for my primary email and I had to restore both Thunderbird 143.13.0esr and my email library from my Time Machine backup.

I am seeking advice on how to do some cleanup of an inbox anomaly so that I can install 153 without losing my inbox.

Details follow:

My primary email account has had an oddity in Thunderbird for years in which I have two inboxes: an active one with lots of email messages as well as subfolders, and an inactive one which is empty and no subfolders. I have tried deleting the inactive one by selecting it in the sidebar and choosing File, Delete folder, but that command is gray.

By poking around in my Library, Thunderbird, my profile, Mail, my pop account of interest, I discovered the inactive inbox is named Inbox and has only two files, "Inbox" and "Inbox.msf". The active inbox is named "Inbox prev" and has these files: "Inbox prev", "Inbox prev.msf", and a folder "Inbox prev.sbd" which has a bunch of files and more subfolders. All of my four email accounts have multiple folders and subfolders, but I was able to identify both my primary email account and my active inbox from various folder names that were unique to that account and inbox.

Today I followed the following procedure:

1. Quit Thunderbird (and all other apps) 2. Force a Time Machine backup 3. Download Thunderbird 153 for English, US 4. Verify the SHA hash 5. Install Thunderbird 6. Verify the signature 7. Launch Thunderbird

Both my active and inactive inboxes in my primary email account were gone from the Thunderbird interface. I checked my library and the files appear to still be there.

I proceeded with the following remediation:

8. Restore Thunderbird 143.13.0esr from Time Machine, replacing the 153 version 9. Restore the Thunderbird library folder from Time Machine

I launched Thunderbird and my inbox has been restored to the UI, but I am on the esr channel and not the desired release channel.

Is there any kind of manual cleanup I can do to get rid of the inactive inbox, rename the active inbox from Inbox prev to Inbox, and then re-upgrade to 153?
