Hi. I have several folders and subfolders created under Local folders on Thunderbird for Mac 140.0 (aarch64). When I create a new subfolder under a particular subfolder the new folder goes to the bottom of the folder hierarchy and not inserted alphabetically in the hierarchy, I have to manually drag the new folder into its alphabetical place in the folder hierarchy. This only happens on this one subfolder all the other subfolders are fine. I have only noticed this recently but it used to be ok and position the new folder alphabetically in the hierarchy. I have tried compacting and repairing the folder but it still stays the same, any ideas?

Until a few days ago, I had a little button at the top left of my Thunderbird window to get any new mail. Now it has disappeared. If I've made that happen, I've no idea how. Please can someone tell me how to put it back? Thanks.

went to white text on black background after latest automatic update to Thunderbird (128.12 Oesr). I've tried all suggested fixes and can't get black text on white background active again. HOW DO I GET BACK TO NORMAL??

Hi, Is there a way to set up Thunderbird so that a thread of emails opens up in one window? Right now, every time I answer an email and get a response, TB opens up a tab for each separate email. I selected Open Message in an Existing Message Window in Settings, hoping that would solve it; but now it just opens a bunch of windows for each message. I just want one window that shows the thread of messages with the most recent response on top. Is that possible? I hate having to close 10 tabs every time I get an email.

I have Thunderbird 128.12.0. I accidentally deleted an old message and I quickly realized my error and went to the account's trash folder to recover it, but the act of opening up the trash folder seemed to trigger an automated deletion of old messages (at least that's what it looked like it was doing - maybe I'm wrong). In any case, the message is not in the trash folder, so it appears it was just deleted because of the age of the message. I'm wondering if there's some way to have the trash folder not delete messages based solely on their creation date, but also on the date they were moved to the trash folder. In other words, two conditions must be met. They must have been deleted x number of days ago, and they must have a certain age (based on the creation date). This way even a very old message would be available for a certain period.

I read a couple of articles about how trash deletion is handled, and I'm a little confused. For each of my three accounts, when I right click the TRASH folder, then click on PROPERTIES, and then click on RETENTION POLICY, "Use my account settings." is checked. That seems fine, but I'm not sure where the retention policy is established for the account. If I right click on the account name, and then click on SERVER SETTINGS, I see a "When I delete a message" heading. In my case the option checked is "Move it to this folder" and the folder is the trash folder. The MESSAGE STORAGE section has nothing checked.

Am I missing something? Is there a place where I can specify how long something must be kept in trash before it's deleted?

I updated my version but when I log in it wants me to donate. Donate implies you don't have to if you want. More important, I've already donated. So why doesn't the damn thing let me bypass the request

Please how do I recieve my new emails in decending order I am finding new emails at the bottom of the pile and I have to scroll down all my old ones to get to new...thank you for your time

Thunderbird doesn't natively show number icons for the number of emails in folders other than INBOX (maybe one or two others). I miss messages in other folders because they don't display emails present. How do I enable this for other mail folders? Checked interweb; didn't seem to apply.

While I am a management consultant and do not understand how to code and develop software beyond the most surface levels, I wish to contribute this idea towards development of Thunderbird.

One of the most important components of an email client is the editor. There have been many requests for changes in the Thunderbird mail editor in the past. I wish to propose a strategic solution to this issue.

The solution that I offer is that this team of independent contributors builds a word processor like Microsoft Word, does so under the umbrella of Thunderbird, so that there are no copyright issues in using that editor for composing email in Thunderbird, and uses that editor as a stand alone editor as well as an editor for composing emails within Thunderbird.

I am not aware if the Linux Word Processing Editor can be used for Thunderbird as a sharing between two community software initiatives, but that aspect can also be explored by talking directly to Linux.

I am struggling trying to get a consistent format in Thunderbird. First of all let me say that I am happy with the default use of paragraph style and if I want to have occasional single spacing I can use shift-enter instead of enter. Most queries on formatting seem to be about getting single spacing all the time. That is not my issue. That means that if I compose an email from scratch everything is just the way I want it, using the default settings. The problem arises when I reply to an email. The settings then seem to be ignored. For instance the line spacing can be fixed to single spacing whether I select paragraph or body text and no matter what I do I can't get it to follow the default behaviour. Also, I noticed that the font goes to "sans-serifArial" instead of the usual "Variable Width". In fact if I try to select "Variable Width" in the Format menu it is just ignored. How do I get the default composition settings when I reply to an incoming email?

When "Moving" emails to folder links that are 3 levels down in "Local Folders", the "Recent Destinations" listing will only save the link as 'Inbox - Local Folders' - not the email folder 'saved to' which may be more than one level down from 'Local Folders'.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Thunderbird and I get the same results.

I believe that some revisions ago one was able to clear the yellow bar in both panes by one action, that is , clearing it in one pane would result in it being cleared in both. This does not happen now (on my system, anyway). Am I correct in my belief? If so, can it please be re-implemented? Thank you. Regards, RDP.

Regarding the new Dark Mode (which is great!), is there a way to make the background a true black instead of the dark gray/light black that it is? I do use an extension to get this affect, which makes it easier for my old eyes to read (creates more contrast), but I'd love to have white text on a true black background natively.

Can I limit spell check so that it does not check the original message when I am replying to or forwarding an email.

I'm finding that the original email address is always being flagged and bad spelling by original author I don't want to correct.
