Win10/64-22H2 New installation of TB.

Attempting to create an email account in Set-up Your Existing Email Address. After entering the email information and clicking "Continue" the IMAP data popup showed correct information with the "Configuration found at email provider". Clicking "Done" causes a loop on "Checking password". Attempting to "Configure Manually" and Clicking on "Done" gives me an "Incoming server already exists." message.

The only option I have is to cancel the configuration and start over. I have done this several times.

Issue 1385895: Checking Password loop Issue 1380451: Incoming server already exists message

My contacts (email address lists) have disappeared. My Thunderbird account requested that I allow it to compact the email account a day or two ago - could that have caused this problem? Or is there a way to get the contact lists back?

Is there a way to play a certain continuous tone when an incoming mail from a certain sender (e.g. xyz@example.com or just @example.com) comes in? That would be an extremely useful function, e.g. if you are waiting for particularly important and urgent mails and, for example, want to be woken up in the night when this particular important mail arrives.

I used to use Thunderbird exclusively, but GoDaddy dumped my three main mailboxes into Exchange Server; even with Owl, Tbird could only be used for one of them, so I was forced into Outlook for those accounts. But I kept Thunderbird to use with the non-GoDaddy mailboxes. However. I did not remove the GoDaddy accounts from Thunderbird, as I was busy. Now, when I click the Thunderbird icon on my taskbar, Outlook comes up instead. Ditto when I enter Thunderbird on the start menu! It's not even my normal Outlook, which has my main three mailboxes. but an Outlook that shows only the least-used of the three. How do I get Thunderbird back? And when I do, how do I delete those three mailboxes from it?

I have been successfully accessing my icloud account with thunderbird on Windows 10 for years and then on Tuesday (June 4th) it went weird. All I am left with is thunderbird's cached inbox e-mails. If I try to update the list of new e-mails, it just sits there with no errors reported. If I try to read some cached e-mails I can see the full text. (I am setup to always read plain text), but for some, I just get whitespace. I see "myname@icloud.com connected to imap.mail.me.com..." on the status line for most folders, but some just clear that status message.

I am not receiving emails and when I try to send an email I get a warning "Sending of the message failed.Peer’s Certificate issuer is not recognized. The configuration related to smtp.themessagingco.com.au must be corrected" I have made sure that the account information for incoming and outgoing mail is correct, but that is the limit of my understanding of what I can do. How can I correct this problem?

I am running 115.4.1 (64-bit). I noticed fairly recently that my main gmail account is not downloading the latest emails. I went to "Help", "About Thunderbird" and got the following error:

Update failed. Updates available at https://www.thunderbird.net/

I'm including a screen capture of the error.

Am I supposed to simply download the version at "https://www.thunderbird.net/" and then run that?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Everyone. I'm sure that Thunderbird used to have the option to show conversations (received AND sent messages) in folders especially useful in the Inbox. However I can;t see a way to enable that in the current version. I know I can go to conversation view in the context memory but it seems crazy that is an option by context but can;t be set as a default for 'normal' viewing in folders - all I can set is to see half the conversation with the trail of received messages but not my replies intermixed with them so I see the whole conversation. Am I missing a setting somewhre? Thanks fo any help.

I’m not able to download any of my emails. This is the message that senders who try to email me receive.:

“A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

laurie@scottspencer.net     LMTP error after end of data: 452 4.2.2 <laurie@scottspencer.net> Not enough disk quota:     retry timeout exceeded”

I searched online for troubleshooting guidelines and did everything suggested that I found. I also uninstalled and then reinstalled Thunderbird. None of those things that I tried worked. I’m also not able to delete any messages. When I try to trash them, they just pop right back up.

This is my primary business email account and I would appreciate any help getting it up and running as soon as possible. Thank you so much!

I use comcast.net for my mail email, Gmail for my second, and I want to add both. THat is another topic I want addressed if it is possible to have tow simultaneous email accounts with the same Thunderbird email program, so I can switch back and forth when I need to.

My main concern is that when I go to add comcast email, it automatically forces me to sign in to the Xfinity website. I also have two-factor authentication where I click on the Xfinity app on my phone giving me permission to sign in.

It tries twice even after I click on the Xfinity app to give permission, but it fails. So, Thunderbird is pointless without me being able to successfully add my email client. What say you? And do not in any way point the finger at me, my devices, my phone or Comcast. Please get the solution, without being a narcissist, to fix my problem. I have all I can stand of this in the past. I appreciate it kindly, and thank you.

And I am not allowed to use any other form to sign in, even a text message because I use the Xfinity app. I am unable to change that, so get this fixed for me. I used Microsoft Outlook in the past with no issues with Xfinity and Gmail. See image screenshot on this post

Everything is successful up until when I click on "Done" and then TB hangs on "Checking password...".

Old topics on this have stated the issue is resolved by "uninstalling then reinstalling Thunderbird".

Not very practical for me - I have 37 email accounts.

I need another solution to the problem.

And I'm also curious - why I'm able to add (over time) 37 email accounts and now suddenly I can't add any more because of this issue?

Please, can someone provide an alternate solution - "uninstalling and reinstalling" when 37 accounts are involved doesn't make much sense.
