My old computer got busted so I had to migrate to a new one. I tried syncing my account to this one to transfer my things, but the only thing that got transferred was adblock. I had important bookmarks on my other computer that are no where to be found. Can anyone help me with this?

Hi Overpowereducks,

I am sorry to hear that some of your sync profile was not synced to the new computer. I am suspicious that you may only have addons checked to be synced on your account?

I do not recommend sync as a back up service. However please makes sure that the sync account is still connected to the previous computer and that all of the features to be synced are checked in the Sync profile.

Do you still have access to the previous computer? if you do have access to the previous computer, see if you can find the Firefox profile folder: Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data

My other computer is dead, so I don't have access to it. Last I checked it was still connected to sync, so everything should've been fine. Everything is checked to be synced. I did this before without a problem, but I forget what I did to make it work.

Whatever you do or may have already done, if you request a new password for Sync {Firefox Account} your data will be wiped from the Sync server.

Note that it is possible that the hard drive is still working if the main cause of the failure wasn't the hard drive. You can try to mount the hard drive in an enclosure that allows to attach the drive via a USB port.

I'm confused.

Sync works by encrypting the data locally by using an encryption key that is derived from the password of the Sync account. If you do not remember the password and would request a new Sync account password then this will cause the Sync server to remove all currently stored data since it won't be possible to decrypt this data even if you could download it (only the original password would be able to decrypt this data).
