After update I have no letters on the screen any more,just icons
Hello! I need help.I tried to update from a really old version 30.0 to a latest version and when I do I see no letters on the screen any more,just icons.So I switched to the old version again.Absolutely no letters on the screen,not one.
When I tried 34.0 version only icons appeared and when I tried 40.0 strange signs appear,like Chinese letters. For example,I open Google and it does not say search,instead I have weird signs.
I tried to update my graphics driver since this seems like some kind of a graphics problem,but computer says my driver is ok. Not just that is working properly but also that I have an optimal version.
What do I do.It is really important that I update because of Paypal.They are changing something these days and it is important that people who receive money (I have an Etsy shop) have latest browsers.

Your System Detail list still shows the Firefox 30.0 version.
Did you already update to the current Firefox 40.0.3 release?
Can you attach a screenshot of what you see on the Firefox page?

- Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
- Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB
What encoding is selected?
- Firefox > Web Developer > Character Encoding
- View > Character Encoding
Your System Detail list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts. The user.js file will only be present if you or other software has created this file and normally won't be present.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click). The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.
Thank you for responding.I switched back to 30.0 because I can not use the computer at all with 40.0.3 . or any later version. I can not take screenshots so I took a photo. First photos show the situation when I installed 40.0.3 and the last photo shows the situation after I installed 34.0.5
My character encoding is set to unicode. and I will now check the user.js file that you mentioned.Maybe that is the problem.
Not sure in what profile folder should I look for this user.js file ?

I found the profile folder,deleted the user.js file and tried to instal latest version and it all happened again.No letters So I am back on 30.0
Start Windows IE. Is the problem here also?
Download Firefox Full Version For All languages And Systems {web link} Save the file. Then;
Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.
Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.
• Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder Firefox in your home directory.
Look for, and rename any Mozilla or Firefox folders by adding .old to them.
After rebooting the computer, run a registry scanner. Then run the installer. If all goes well, remove the OLD folders when you are done.

"AppData" (XP: Application Data; Mac: ~/Library; Linux: ~/.mozilla) is a hidden folder.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
