I have an hotmail.com account with no problems whatsoever while logging into Apple Mail, G-Mail etc. but when it comes to Thunderbird it does not let me login. I tried to login first to outlook itself, changing the servers ports etc. but nothing works.

For refrence my current server settings are: Incoming (IMAP): Server: outlook.office365.com Port: 993 Security SSL/TSL and OAuth2

Outgoing (SMTP): Server: smtp.office365.com Port: 587 Security: STARTTLS with OAuth2

Locked out of my emails since Feb 26 2026: [redacted] @hotmail.com [redacted] @hotmail.com [redacted] @hotmail.com

Hello, I use Thunderbird to manage several email accounts, one on them is not active anymore but I still want to be able to access the emails stored in my thunderbird directory tree, so I keep it active. And the fact is that every day this account tries to access a remote server that does not exists anymore to retrieve email that can not be retrieve, and every day I am asked for a password that cannot work. But the fact is that I did deactivate all options to read remote emails for this account, so that behavior is odd and I am not able to find a way around it. Any idea what to do not to be bother anymore ?

At the beginning I see some message disappear (moved from inbox to the folder but never show in the folder) then following some advises I made a Repair Folder, then all messages in the folder disappear.

As you can see, on the gmail picture there is 114 emails in this folder, in the Thunderbird picture it count only 7 and display none.

Please any one have a solution ?

Hi, a long-time Thunderbird user here using 140.11.1esr (64-bit) Thunderbird for Linux Mintmint-001 - 1.0 with e-mail set up as IMAP for a hotmail.com e-mail.

I'm having (and always have tbh) had problems with saving only one copy of "Sent" e-mails and it's driving me scatty. In "Thunderbird setup" for my hotmail.com account, I always de-select "When sending messages, automatically Place a copy in "Sent" folder" as I know my Hotmail account does that and then Thunderbird will pick that up to store locally as part of the IMAP syncing. I get, as expected, only one "Saved" copy which is fine.

Then, for no apparent reason, I suddenly start to get duplicates even though the "de-select" is still there in Thunderbird setup for the account. The cure seems to be to select it as if I want 2 copies and send myself a test e-mail, then de-select it again so I only get one at which point I only get one copy again. It then works fine for weeks (or months!!!) then, bang, 2 copies start appearing again with nothing (seemingly) changed.

I also have a gmail.com account set up as IMAP which never changes - I've always only ever got one "Sent" copy as expected. Clearly, this points to some sort of weird Thunderbird/Hotmail config issue which is odd as the "mechanics" of Thunderbirds internal handling of copies should not be affected by the remote e-mail and yet the issue is with hotmail.com but never with gmail.com accounts. As a Comms/Radar engineer it's really got me!

Anyone else seen this and, if so, are you able to tell me what's up? What am I doing wrong? It's very odd. Cheers!

People are not receiving my emails. I am receiving other peoples emails. I am using Linux Mint 22 and Thunderbird 140.11.1esr. If I send an email and look in the sent folder, it shows that it has been sent. If I log into my Bell Webmail portal and check the sent folder there, it shows that the email has been sent. But no one gets my emails. If I send an email from my Bell Webmail portal, people receive that email. I have re-installed Thunderbird and allowed Thunderbird to autofil the incoming and outgoing server information after entering my user name and password. No change. I have contacted Bell my internet provider and they have told me that because I can send from the Webmail portal and not from my Desktop, it is a Thunderbird problem. It seems that this problem may have start just after Thunderbird received an update about 2-4 weeks ago. It has been around a month since the last time I had a back and forth email exchange. Searching the forum has been difficult to find an issue similar to mine. Any help would be appreciated. Robert

My Yahoo account on Thunderbird sees no email found.

My eMail Providers: Yahoo, AOL, Gmail.

AOL and Gmail(2 accounts) work fine. Only Yahoo doesn't respond. As you can see in the attached screen shot, it shows a "No Messages Found" message.

I have tried everything listed in the support page.

I'm sure it is something simple but I can't see it.

My email provider provides "Disposable Email Addresses" - aliases which still direct mail to my inbox but don't expose my primary email to any web sites etc. I provide them to. It's very handy for registering for mailing lists, product vendors etc. since if one gets leaked, it's no big deal. I can drop the email again, but at least I know who was responsible for leaking it (I still get spam to my old Myspace account). My problem is that I'll occasionally have a need to reply such an email, and by default my From: address is my primary email address, not the one in the To: header. This is confusing to the recipient (since it's from some unknown email) and also exposes my email unintentionally. Is there any way to configure Thunderbird to always reply using the To: address? If there are multiple To: or CC: addresses, it could perhaps be specified with a wildcard matching any of my aliases. I can do it with Identities, I know, but I have to set that up before replying and I frequently forget.

Hi, I can receive emails (via satellite internet) but not send. I logged on to my email provider and I can send emails from there but not from here. any ideas?????

thunderbird refuses to connect with my email account. it says, either the name is wrong or the passwort, or the settings. name and pssword is proofed, so its the settings. where can i find them, and what is to do ?

TB connects to Yahoo Plus just fine. Folders display but no emails display?? I fixed this once a while back by deleting config files in TB and re-adding Yahoo. It has happened again?? Forgot which files I wiped (in Linux Mint). Anyway to avoid doing this continually and what's the fix?

Il me dit que ce ne sont pas les bons alors que je verifie sur MOZILLA mon id et MP et tout semble correcte car je peux me connecter sans aucun problème. Had my computer recently setup linux mint with Thunderbird for my email access. I used the automatic setup to transfer across from Microsoft Hotmail/outlook system.

now all my emails -time sheets pay advice plus plus important emails are now being delivered automatically to deleted file. Not the inbox

I had a file callede archive where I would store all my previous timesheets pay advice these apart from previous month have been deleted - suspect its a automatic clean up after ex many days so thats lost permanently

How can I resolve this issue of the inbox going to deleted file/folder ?

I have seen this problem with roadrunner listed in the forum but my situation is a bit different. Neither my wife or I can send or receive roadrunner emails with different machines. She uses a Mac (sonoma 14.8.7), up to date, I use Linux Mint ver 22. We also have iPhones and iPads. none of these units send or receive emails for the last 24 hrs but all worked just fine before. Spectrum says it our problem not theirs. The tech person at Spectrum said they partner with Thunderbird but they did not know of any changes made.

I have changed passwords used different routers and anything I can think of to connect but the devices now all time out when trying to connect.

Send Message Error "Sending of mmessage failed. An error occured while sending mail: Outgoing server SMTP error. The server responded [192.1680.166] Helo command rejected: IP address 204.237.106.179 Blocked due to Abusive Authentication Behavior."

Problem recently developed. So far on 2 different addresses but could be more. Additional info, hotmail and gmail accounts sending work OK; xplornet.com account is the problem interface but the C/Svc folks say it's a Thunderbird mail issue.

I tried everything and I mean everything and I am still getting this error shown in the image attached. Can someone help?

• Un installed and re-installed thunderbird
• created new profile

There used to be a way to block sending an e-mail to a particular recipient, how can I do this now? When using reply to, there is a defaut address that is used that causes an error. I need thunderbird to block this recipient ( only from sending as they are the default sender ). Thunderbird used to have this option for "sending rules" but it appears to have been removed.

I use Thunderbird 140.9.esr and happened to notice some strange behavior a few weeks ago: I have 5 email accounts, all of which I access via IMAP. Immediately upon syncing, some (not all) emails disappear from the inbox of the first account and appear in the inbox of the third account. When I then manually move the emails back to the correct inbox, they remain there permanently.

When I check the accounts via webmail, the emails have indeed been moved from one server to the other. At first, I thought it was a problem with my filters, but none of the filters were set up to move emails from one server to another. When I disable all filters, the problem persists. Could it be that I made a mistake in the account settings? However, the accounts have been set up for several years now, and I’ve been using Thunderbird for just as long. I didn’t notice this error in earlier versions.
