Running TB latest version 115.11.0 on Win 10. Multiple gmail and other accounts, both POP and IMAP.
Following a catastrophic loss of accounts and messages, I made a fresh TB install then I restored from a previously saved profile from a month ago.
Accounts and folders with messages all now appear.
With one POP gmail account, the inbox and sent folders are stuck at last month's position. I expected the last month's messages to be downloaded as soon as I log into TB, but I'm not able to Get Messages.
My TB log in to collect gmail messages is rejected with this message - The STAT command did not succeed. Error getting message number and sizes. Mail server pop.gmail.com responded: [AUTH] Invalid credentials.
I have checked the account settings server address, and password is set to 0Auth2.
I have changed the gmail password on the gmail website (browser is Firefox) - which is accessed without problem, but only incoming mails are visible, my outgoing mails should be on my PC.
Every time I get the "enter new password" dialog I enter the password that gets me into gmail's on-line website - it is rejected with the STAT message.
I cannot send or receive gmail messages through TB - how can I force gmail to let TB access my emails?

It seems that I need to upgrade but find out by chance by looking under About under Help. Should there not be some other prompt as it is very confusing and some may have no idea what is happening?

I have used Mail Merge addon for years and it works fine. But I would like to use the if then else capability in my TO line. I have the authors page on usage but everything I try seems to be wrong. I have a spread sheet with the following headers: Email Veteran
Under email is the email address. Under Veteran is either Y or N. If used as stand alone {{Email}} in TO line substitution is flawless.
However if I use {{Veteran|Y|Email}} it doesn't work. I have tried enclosing the Y in both single and double quotes and that does't help. I have replaced the Email field name with some text and that doesn't work. So I am thinking that I must have an issue with the way the fields are being interpreted.
I just downloaded and installed the latest version of Thunderbird and MailMerge addon.
Any help greatly appreciated.

I've noticed recently that addresses that were in my personal address book have disappeared, basically they've been deleted. This next bit is from memory so excuse the vagueness. The last time I looked for these I found them in a bin marked as "deleted by thunderbird".

When googling stuff they changed something to where it now opens youtube and autoplays a video when I click on a search result drop-down arrow(image 1). It just it to dropdown to give more info and I could choose to watch the video if I wanted to, like it used to(like image 2). It is getting annoying to switch back to Firefox every other time. For clarification, I don't want to completely disable redirecting but just change it back to how it was. Can't find any setting to change it, does anyone know how to fix this?

I have many programs/apps in my Windows 10 task bar (at the bottom of the screen), and when one of those programs is minimized, the task bar icon for that program has a blue line under the icon, to show that it is still active, but not showing on screen -- that is, except for Thunderbird. If I'm not writing a message in TB at the time I minimize it, there is no blue line under the icon. The problem is: when I'm ready to shut down a session and I've been using Thunderbird at some point in the session and have minimized it, I can't tell from the task bar icon whether TB is active or not, without clicking on the icon. I don't want to have to do that every time I close down the computer, and I don't want to close the session with TB still active. It seems that a simple coding addition would fix the problem, and I can't believe no one else has mentioned the problem. This is not new with 15.1 -- it's been going on for several versions. The ONLY time the icon appears is when there is more than one page of TB open (like Main & Write).

My favourite weather app is not working on my phone, but they also have a website, so I decided to use the 'install' option from the menu to install a direct link to the website.
When I use this website in Firefox, the first question I get is my location. When I open the website again this is not asked again.
But when I use the installed link on the homescreen it ask's my location every time, like this is not saved or something like that, a bit the same as 'ingognito mode'.
Is there a possibility that when I used the installed link on my homescreen that it save's my location (history) so that it not asked every time I open it ?

I have a new email which has been set up in outlook 365. I have created the new identity in thunderbird which thunderbird set up. The new identity will receive emails, it will send read receipts, but will not send emails. It just says "sending message" but it never goes. I have waited for about 3 minutes and it doesn’t even seem to time out.

I have subfolders under sent for particular organisations. These have worked well for several years, but recently have found that many are not moved to their relevant folder, and some sent mail that should stay in the main sent folder, end up in just one of the sub folders. If you move it back the the sent folder it returns to that sub-folder The only change that I have made is moving from Plusnet to Zoho to host my mail around the beginning of the year. However, this problem has only been seen relatively recently, and IIRC first seen after a TB update, though there have been other updates since. When I first noticed that the sent mail was not moving to the subfolders I ran the filters manually and all of the other sent mail disappeared, including on the server. Luckily I had a backup.
I may have to make the sent subfolders as subfolders of the incoming mail though I don't really want to do that, and I don't know if I wil still have issues.

Manually copying files from the old profile is not a solution - it's a workaround and not a great one. Lots of things get left behind. Alternatively: what file in my "old" profile do I need to manipulate to trick Firefox into using it with the new version?
