I totally hate the new firefox 4, want to go back to firefox 3.5-3.6 how do I do this.
I don't like the new tabs. I cannot get my Norton toolbar to show, it contains all my passwords. I really just don't like the new firefox.

I agree with jeep2004 100%. I'll be going to a different browser in about 30 seconds so I can get my work done. What a pitiful browser.
You can get the older version here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
You can change where the tabs are and the general layout of the new version, but if Norton is your main concern, I would revert until they update to work with Firefox 4.
I agree also. I can't get the search page to work even after following all the directions and it is SO lame compared to the 3.1.15 version. As soon as I can figure out how to dump this thing without clearing all my saved information then it's going into cyberspace.
I did locate an earlier version on line and reloaded it, much happier now. Thanks for taking the time to find the answer to my problem.
I'm tearing my hair out with Firefox 4. No refresh button except Command R. 'Open in New Window' bumped to second place in context menu. My bookmarks toolbar into which I crammed a ton of stuff - is now twice as long, because, in addition to the one or two letters or numbers indicating the site (e.g. 'D' for answers.com's dictionary: the less, the more I can cram into the bar) all these stupid little square pictograms appear beside them: they're pretty, they're useless, they take up precious space and I can't get rid of 'em. 3.6 here I come!!
I've only had the new version for two days and I'm thoroughly frustrated and disgusted. It is the most un-intuitive firefox yet. Tabs and refresh options are placed in really awkward positions. And some command options are missing altogether! Like the back button arrow that allows you to return to the 5th page previously viewed rather than hitting the once back option over and over again like a Neanderthal. I'm definitely reverting back to version 3.6 - firefox, what the heck were you thinking??? Granted, it is faster but it needs some serious tweaking before it can be used efficiently.

Blacksheepgirl - you don't have to hit the back button repeatedly to get back to an earlier page - just left click but hold down the button - the list of pages will appear. I know - NOT intuitive at all, is it. I lost the ability to use my bookmarks toolbar and some add-ons I liked. Returned to 3.6. I hope they work out the kinks and I may be back to the newer version when they do.

I totally hate the default layout of firefox 4. I tried to install forcast fox and after install I could not find the stupid thing. I like security and speed but hate lookalike web browsers. I am sticking with 3.6.
I went back to 3.6 as well. Although firefox4 was faster and more secure it certainly looked like a dog and was trying to look like chrome…
Seriously Firefox3.6 looks better then Firefox4.
Also Delicious plugin isn't firefox4 compatible…
Time to go back to the drawing board…
I'm never using firefox again until you change it back. this design is awful. I hate tabs. I'm writing to you on Safari which I'm sticking with from now on. Used to love Firefox.
i hate this stuff . it takes a while to load and some times it stops . i hate the new version . i go to find another browser

I couldn't even log in to post this using Firefox 4. Look Firefox devs, good job at trying, but this just isn't your style, stop trying to be like Microsoft, let them handle the idiot-friendly UI and hidden settings, step by step wizards, and generally useless visual "improvements". If I wanted a browser that looked and was as slow and buggy as Internet Explorer, well, I'd use Internet Explorer. I don't think the average user uses Firefox. no need to dumb it down, hide things, move stuff around, and make it look all pretty with "Do you want Firefox to remember this password" pop-ups taking up a significant portion of the screen. Just leave things alone, like they were, that's why so many people like Firefox.
The problem here folks, is that Firefox has already made the jump to, well, whatever they call this new version. And because of that, management, programmers, and probably everyone else working there will just say "Oh well, they'll get used to it". They wont go back to the old style, it's here to stay. And I'm just one person, but that's one less person who's not upgrading. Just wanted to throw that out there, yeah, I feel better now.
Yeah, seriously Mozilla, you might of kicked yourselves in the ass for this one. The tabs being on the tip-top of the browser was a stupid move, I have a menu dock sitting at the top of my screen that now gets unintentionally interrupted every time I try and open or select a tab. What was the reasoning to move the refresh button way over to the right? If you're going to upgrade something, make sure to stay consistent. Oh, and why in f*cks sake does this browser now imitate Opera?! Be original. I'm sorry, I've been a supporter for Firefox for many years now, but this new browser just plain stinks.
Firefox 4 was the BIGGEST MISTAKE Mozilla has EVER made!! What were they thinking??? It was TERRIBLE!! I upgraded several times, and each time had SO MANY PROBLEMS that I downgraded back to 3.6.
Why do you think v5 came out SO SOON afterwards?? I evaluated v5 and found it to have many of the interface and navigation functions of v4 which I despise!! WHERE DID ALL MY FEATURES AND FUNCTIONALITY GO??
I have already installed Chrome and Opera, but I really don't like them as well as I did Firefox 3.1. Firefox 3.1 was the best browser on the market - Hands Down at the time. The range of features and functionality were outstanding. So, I don't understand why Mozilla had to change the interface so radically in Firefox 4 and now Firefox 5.
Mozilla and all software companies need to learn what the auto industry learned decades ago. They need to understand the concept of "Transparent Technology". Change anything and everything you want to make it better, just DON'T CHANGE THE WAY I USE IT!!
