why does firefox think my xpPro is not capable of firefox 4?
I was sent an "update" by firefox asking to download new version firefox4-----when I did a popup said my computer system does not have the requirements. I downloaded it anyway, but it would not install , saying I dont meet the minimum requirements! I am running xp proffesional and have adequate space- ram etc.

Your user agent string (identifies the version of Firefox) is Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WinNT4.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
It is reporting you have Win NT 4.0 and not Windows XP Pro. As that is wrong you need to reset your user agent string, for details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Websites+or+add-ons+incorrectly+report+incompatible+browser
