Jim, have you tried typing the password into a text editor application to see if this is a keyboard issue?

This is to rule out, for example, whether the caps lock is on, or if the keyboard layout has changed resulting in a different symbol being typed than the one expected. Or whether a key has become faulty and isn't typing, etc.
