I'm getting this problem on my laptop that I use when away. Comes up when I send a e mail but I think the mails get sent. What causes it & how can I clear the problem? Thanks in advance

Is this for a Yahoo POP account?

Got this reply, to be blunt I did not understand it. Please would you just answer my question in simple words.

You provided no details on your system or the error messages you see. Did you look at the references supplied in the link?

Sorry, thought I had given the error details. Yes I did read the links but they were too complicated for me.

I'm using a Asus Laptop X102B I get e mail on Thunderbird from BT Yahoo. When I send mail on the Laptop I get error message :- "Unavailable UID Fetch" But i've checked by sending mail to myself & they go through. But I would like to know how to clear the problem of error message. Hope this is enough information for you to help Thanks

There are some instructions given here:

"This error can occur with Yahoo IMAP accounts. It seems to mainly occur when there is a problem fetching the contents of a message in the Spam, Bulk Mail or Trash folder. Deleting the folders contents, emptying the trash, and compacting the folders works around the problem."

After you do this, does the error message remain?

I've emptied & compacted Junk/Bulk Folders. Can't see "Trash" folder Sent mail to myself & error message still shows. But this mail was delivered to myself. So most important question, does this mean all "Sent" messages are being delivered? If so problem, I think, is less important Thanks for help

If you can't see the Trash/Deleted Items folder, right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, Refresh, and check the folder if it isn't subscribed, then empty and compact. Or, access the Trash folder from the webmail interface.

Have now emptied my "Trash /Deleted" & compacted. You food me on this just stating it was "Trash" rather than "deleted" Anyway it's done. But you have still not answered my basic prime question:_ If I get this message are mails that I send getting delivered? This is the fundamental question

If messages are copied to the Sent folder, that means they have been received by the outgoing smtp server. What happens after that is dependent on the recipient's mail server. The 'UID Fetch' error is not related to the sending process, as far as I can see. Check that you have the correct settings for the Yahoo smtp server, and check if an app password is required.

Thanks for your support. I've checked both Server settings & they all look correct. When I get back to home I'll check that Laptop T.Bird settings are in line with those set on Tower computer. Sent another mail to myself this morning, it was delivered to in box & copy went to Sent Folder but when the "Sent Copy" showed the UID Fetch error message box came up. You infer it is not to do with sending process, so is it to do with the copying to Sent Folder?
