Thunderbird automatically updated a couple of days ago and I emmideatly noted missing icons of the Mail Toolbar. The image holders for drop down arrows are there, and when I 'mouse over' the intended icon, they display (except fot the 'Write Mail' icon.

I either need a fix or I need a way to roll back the update to the previous version - I think that was 38.

Please advise ASAP.

Thank you!

I followed your suggestions - disabled all add-ons - and the new version 45 loads correctly.

This is good to know, however, it would also be good to know who to roll back the upgrade in preference of being work productive rather than the risk of a security breach.

Prior to posting this issue I searched both in TB forums and Google to learn how to ‘roll back’ and upgrade and did not find a solution. While I realize that is a different topic, is it possible you cold point me in the right direction?

Thanks so much!

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

As suggested I closed Thunderbird and opened in safe mode. The 'Mail Toolbar' displays correctly. After going to 'File / Exit' (not Quit - does not exist) and reopening ver 45 in regular mode, the Mail Toolbar is again as described and shown in the screen shot.

The suggestion to open in Safe Mode did not say the purpose of doing so. Was there something else I should have looked into?

I also not looking into 'Add-Ons Manager' the following:

Extra Folder Colums is incompatable with TB 45.0 - I removed it, exited the program, and relaunched in regular mode. Same issue exists.

I also note that ver 38 has ALL Mail Tools at top of page (parrallel to the search line). Ver 45 in Safe Mode has some of those (reply, forward, etc) at the top of the open email window.

Also, my previous ver 38 included the add-on 'Enigmail' which included a button which is also missing from the program - the 'Menu Bar' still includes the Enigmail drop down list.

I closed and reopened in safe mode and disabled Enigmail. Upon opening in regular mode the issue still remains.

Safe mode disables all extensions and themes. When the problem does not occur in safe mode, that means it's caused by one of your extensions or themes.

Disable all extensions and make sure you do use the default theme.

Then enable your extensions one at a time until the problem occurs again.

Extra Folder Colums is incompatable with TB 45.0

As of Thunderbird v38 the functionality is built-in. So get rid of the Extra Folder Colums extension.

the 'Menu Bar' still includes the Enigmail drop down list.

Make sure you do have the latest version of Enigmail, which is 1.9.2.
