I could use some instructions on how to migrate from TDS web-based system. I have done thru the download and can see e-mails but they aren't current. I am not receiving anything current.

The general rule is that you find the email server settings from the provider's website. Then, in Thunderbird, start the new account wizard, enter your email address and password and let it look for the account. If Thunderbird can't find it, manually enter the server settings. (I had a brief look at a TDS website. It was very heavy on corporate stuff and very light on hard technical information. So light that I wasn't able to find any mention of POP, IMAP or SMTP. Good luck!)

And then I found this: http://www.tdstelecom.com/support/help?answerid=3145

Whilst it doesn't specifically mention Thunderbird, it gives all the server addresses, ports and security settings. I note that you need to enable "email forwarding" (poor choice of terminology) and IMAP appears to be available, though they don't seem to encourage its use.

If the email service offers only POP then the bad news is that POP will let you see only your Inbox. You need IMAP to see any other folders.

If you have an address book on the TDS server, you'll need to export it (probably to a CSV file) then import this file into Thunderbird's Address Book.

I found the IMAP port (993) and SMTP (587)! I can receive email but I cannot send it. My category folders also did not port over. Neither did my addresses but I'm not so concerned about those. Any help you can give to me on sending e-mails and getting my folders would be great!
