After providing my existing twc.com email address and other requested information, Thunderbird did a search and came up with "The following settings were found by probing the given server." I used those settings and attempted to create a Tbird-based account. I got this error message: "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account." Which seems odd since Tbird provided those settings by searching the server. What can I do now? I hate to go back to MS Office but I need email and I've spent two days trying to figure this out, including a couple of hours on the phone with Spectrum (they were just as baffled as I am). I still can't use Tbird for email but pls email me at [edited from community support forum] @twc.com and I can access it on my old MS Office computer.

Hi
Just checking when ThunderMail and Pro will be available? I'm in need of email services for my small business and just don't want to subscribe to Google. I love Thunderbird, glad it survived so many transformations over decades and would like my subscription contribute to further development.
Can you, please provide me with at least estimated timeline?
Thank you S

Scary behavior of 'Local Folders': I'm moving an IMAP account from one server to an other. I copy all emails from old server IMAP account to a place described as "Local Folders". I then delete the account connected to the old server. WTF: the the local folders to which I copied the messages are now GONE. My plan was to recreate the account to the new server, then copy messages from LocalFolders to IMAP. But the LocalFolders got deleted along with the IMAP account. This I was doing in a separate profile from my own, as it's for a friend I'm helping with a hosting move.
In my own profile: For more than a decade, I have been maintaining the size of my mailboxes, by moving older messages to LocalFolders. As it happens, for these, I did indeed direct the folder to a separate drive, which also gets backed up offsite. My concern is that 'Local Folders' are portrayed as being INDEPENDENT of IMAP accounts. This is VERY POOR design, to allow a user to delete data they thought was safely stored locally while they recreate a moved or misbehaving account. I have dozens of Local Folders. Five years ago, I abandoned an entire domain name and it's email accounts. I know I still have those emails in my local folders despite having deleted the IMAP accounts from my profile. I fear that the current version, by default, might not be so respectful of my data. Can someone please explain? Where are the links that TIE an IMAP account to Local Folders, and how do I sever that link?
In my case, the source account still exists. I can repeat my steps, but for some other unfortunate users, this may not be the case.

Cut the cable a couple months ago. Have been using Firefox/Tbird many years. Stopped being able to access old email address of 25 years a couple days ago. When opened Tbird would always got to old email and say "couldn't log in" or something. Would cancel out of that twice, click on new address and collect new address email. Old email was always there, used it as reference during transition. At settings chose new as default and deleted old address. Looks like the boxes checked would not have deleted old email but it's gone. 3500+ of them. No warning, message, choice, nothing. took zero time. Cannot change in Mozilla login to new email address. Tried Tbird import tool, could seem to figure it out. Also need to update email in Mozilla. Help. Tks. x@yahoo.com

Dear Sir / Madam, I am still running a perfectly good Win 7 computer. My Mail Inbox & Sent Box have a huge number of Emails i have been trying to delete in batches. They initially go to my Deleted folder which shows the number of emails collected. I then empty the deleted folder. so far so good, except the huge file size in my inbox or sent box hasn’t changed! But the deleted folder is now showing empty! The emails i selected to delete seem to have disappeared, but i have not recovered any disk space! I am running out of disk space in C drive because i cannot seem to remove these emails. I have tried shutting down my computer & rebooting (i shut it down every night) this has no effect.
If i had a tool to open the sent / inbox file i could manually delete emails in old date order? Hope someone out there can help.
Kind regards Nick

I am really in a panic: Using ubuntu 22.04 and Thunderbird 140.7.1.esr For my main account I keep some 40 sub-folders and sub-sub-folders. All but the most recent mails in my sub folders are gone, something like 4 years of email. I asked chatGPT for help and found inside the /mail folder that most of the files with the names of my sub folders with no extension have 0 kb. I don't use IMAPS because I wanted my mails on my computer so I use only POP. :-( The interesting thing is that this only happend to my main account. I have 6 more accounts in Thunderbird and they seem to be fine, at least for now. Thank you for any help. Kind regards Frank

Hallo,

I accidentally deleted a folder (that I thought was empty) which ended up having important saved emails in it. I thought I had transferred the emails to a new folder...but unfortunately they were still in the old folder. I am running Windows 10 22H2, Thunderbird 140.7.1esr.
I cannot display some emails that are found when I make a search for a specific word and partially displayed. Therefore I understand they are still there.
However, when I request a list of these emails, none is found. Same thing if I try to fully edit them. I understand the index is somewhat damaged. How do I fix that ?

I have a local folder which has 90 folders within it. These are folders brought over from Eudora (the mail system I used before Thunderbird). It would help me if I could easily move all 90 from their current "Eudora" folder to the big "main" folder that Thunderbird has. To make it clear what I'm asking, here's an example, using two folders, Danbury and Fritz.
D (folders whose names begin with D) Eudora folder, which has two folders - Danbury and Fritz F (folders whose names begin with F)
Is there any way to move the 2 folders that are currently within the "Eudora" folder so that they're "first level" folders. In other words, Danbury would be among the "D" folders and Fritz would be among the "F" folders.
The only way I know to achieve this is by manually creating the new folders, moving the items from the old folder to the new folder, and then deleting the old folder. This is cumbersome.

After deleting a large number of historical emails, including emptying the Deleted items folder, and emptying the Archive folder, Thunderbird restores a large number - but not all - previously deleted emails. Oddly the emails that are restored to the inbox are only ones from 2022. I have gone through and deleted them multiple times but they keep coming back. Any suggestions? Thanks, Simon.
