I just installed Thunderbird, linked it to my primary email account (ok!) and then tried to import one year's worth of email messages exported from my Apple Mail client as .mbox folders with an underlying folder structure (1 per month). Thunderbird went away for about 2 hours "downloading" and importing ( ... looking good!), but at the end my "Local Folder: Apple Mail Import" still shows no messages. Where are they and how can I access them in the Thunderbolt client?

Hello, I have problems to use Thunderbird client in my Win11 laptop. In late 2023 windows introduced modern authentication and after that I have big problems to have just any mail client to work. I used to use Outlook classic but that one failed I stared to test different clients e.g. Thunderbird, Mailbird, emclient but with no luck! My feeling is that it has to do with my Windows 11 installation. The process always fails when trying to log in to the IMAP server. When googeling around my impression is the Thunderbird should do it - but sadly not in my laptop.

I decided to dive into the details and try to find why it fails, so please see below analyse.

Problem description: Thunderbird 128.6.0esr(64-bitar) works in Windows 10 environment but same thunderbird version fails to log in to IMAP-server in windows 11.

Analyze logging created using .bat file with: set MOZ_LOG=IMAP:5,timestamp

       set MOZ_LOG_FILE=%USERPROFILE%\Desktop\imaplog
      "%ProgramFiles%\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe"

Observation: Windows 10 where login works: 2108499af00:imap.privat.bahnhof.se:NA:ProcessCurrentURL:imap://mb111111@imap.privat.bahnhof.se:993/select%3E.INBOX: = currentUrl

Windows 11 where login fails: 243f98e5900:imap.privat.bahnhof.se:NA:ProcessCurrentURL:imap://mb111111@imap.privat.bahnhof.se:993/select%3E%5EINBOX: = currentUrl %3E = ”>” %5E = ”^”

It looks like the dot (.) has been incorrectly coded. Is this difference the problem and is it connected to windows 11 or?

Hello dear helpers!

I am currently trying to register my Gmail account with Thunderbird. Unfortunately, this is currently failing.

After I have entered my access data and confirmed in the Google browser that pops up that Thunderbird should have access to my Google data, the Thunderbird that pops up again says at the top of the screen that “the password is being checked” and at the bottom left of the screen it says “the access data is being sent to Google” or something similar.

After that, nothing happens. I get no error message and no message that anything has gone wrong or that there is an incorrect entry. I have waited 20 minutes, but nothing happens.

Then I tried to close the program, but this didn't work because it hung up or crashed. I then had to close Thunderbird manually via the Task Manager because it didn't respond even after repeated attempts to close it normally.

I then tried the same registration again. Unfortunately, the result was exactly the same.

The registration request also seems to be received by Google. I get the security notification for my login in my mail app. Google allows you to “Check activity” if you believe that the login attempt is not yours, but here it was me. I didn't click on anything there, so that can't be the reason.

Would someone be so kind as to help me here? I don't know what else I can do to link the accounts/register them with Thunderbird.

I have a large amount of emails stored in a mail server (almost 22G), and the service will expire next month. So I want to use Thunder Bird to keep these emails in my local drive for later access. I am new to this software, and have a few questions. 1. Should I use IMAP or POP3 for my purpose? 2. Because it is a huge volume, I guess it may take several days to download all emails. Then, can I turn off Thunder Bird while it is downloading or pause the download process and resume later? What if the downloading process be interrupted due to internet disconnection, power failure or other reasons? Can the software resume where it leaves and ensure the integrity of all emails? I have Version 128.5.2esr (64-bit), it says it is up to date.

So I've been noticing a couple of days now that I can no longer view messages in the message pane to the right of the screen. When I click on an email in the list on the left, the top of the pane on the right shows me the To, From, subject etc, as well as a yellow bar saying "Warning: To protect your privacy, Thunderbird has blocked remote content in this message." Then, nothing underneath this. Where it used to show the email contents. I do NOT want to have to double click every single email in my inbox to look at them in a separate tab. Most of what I get is not useful. I want to be able to click once and preview the email, then click Down to check the next one, and on and on the same as Thunderbird did it LAST WEEK.

Can someone help me get it back to working please? Thanks!

Thunderbird started crashing randomly about 2 days ago, however, after restart, it would remain running if I switched to troubleshooting mode. I removed an add-on from Bitdefender in troubleshooting mode.

Today I can't even open Thunderbird-- it crashes on launch. It won't launch even if I hit the Shift key or if I turn off antivirus.

I have apparently unselected the composition toolbar which contained the option of sending the current email. This has also forced the "File: Send Unsent Messages" option is grayed out. I do not have the option of selecting the Composition Toolbar. My Email provider varies. I have Gmail, Yahoo mail, and AOL (Netscape/AIM) Mail. ISP is Verizon. Firewall, Antivirus and VPN is Bitdefender Total Security | Build 27.0.46.231. Operating system Windows 11 Pro; Version 24H2; Build 26100.2605; Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0. Thunderbird freezes on loading. It seems to be working (window notifications show incoming mails). The top bar has one item which says "loading" but never does! I am running WIN 11 pro with AVG. I have tried the following: - open TH in program safe mode - Open TH with laptop in safe mode - uninstall and reinstall - Open with antivirus turned off - Deleted all .msf files in current profile (judging by time and date) which seems to have been called xxxxxxxxx.repair . On restart TH did not reinstate the .msf files and the blank frozen screen was still there. - there were about 4 other profiles in the directory although in reality there should only be one. These profiles have various names: defaultnew, default (2 off), default-release and repair. - All profiles except the one with ".repair" were copied to another location before restarting. Any help would be appreciated.

After around five minutes or so a couple of emails will load and then it's back to "not responding." Then another few or more minutes of waiting and another couple of emails download and back to "not responding." This goes on for hours. Tonight I have been waiting for eight hours and I'm still waiting with no end in sight. I can't do anything else with email until it finishes. This is very frustrating. Can you help?

What do people mean by "Unsubscribe" from the Gmail "All Mail" folder.

This folder looks like a "duplicate" as I have read here, but when I delete emails from this folder, they get deleted from the inbox. So I'd just prefer for "All Mail" not to appear in Thunderbird. But I don't see how to make that happen.... Never had so much trouble trying to understand the bizarre behaviors of Thunderbird.

peculiar problem, my wife's installation of Thunderbird seems to be corrupt somehow. she cannot make a new folder or subfolder, when you right click the option to create a new folder is not even there, the only way is file/new/folder but nothing happens...now that was weird enough but since this started we have both got new machines with a new installation of windows 11 and a new installation of thunderbird and yet the wife still has the same problem, we did import the profile from the old hard drive so could the problem have been imported with the profile.

I have changed a thousand settings from various help pages, I can program, build and repair PCs, and I run my own dedicated server so I am not a noob.

it seems that something somewhere is restricting the right-click menus and the facility to create folders and subfolders. HHHHEEEEEEEELLLLPPPP

Im the Adjutant of the local chapter of DAV. I have a email list of all the members I would like to send Meeting notices and other information out to. It is related to the chapter only and not to be used as spam mailings.

How do I take the list and make a mailing list out of it?
