A couple of updates ago, I received the message that some of my bookmarks will not be available. So I ran through the trouble shooting FAQs and I ran into a problem. When I go into Manage Bookmarks and it brings up my now empty library, when I select Import/Backup then Restore, it will not show me any files to restore from. Additionally, I used Fx File Utilities and it show the corrupt entry that I cannot remove, but allows me to export the json file to an html file so I can import it, but once again, when I select Import from HTML, it shows me no available files to restore from. Lastly, I imported the html file in to Chrome and then tried the option to import from another browser, but again, it will not allow me to select anything.

I have confirmed the integrity of the db as instructed, etc. So I have run out of options. How can I get my 15+ years of bookmarks back?

One of the most useful features of Firefox is the PDF editor and with this update, I've found that after annotating a PDF with several text boxes, clicking the text box icon (as shown in the attached screenshot) does absolutely nothing and it is impossible to enter any further text. The only way out of this is to refresh the pdf (after saving otherwise all changes will be lost) and then starting all over again only for the error to repeat itself making the editor almost unusable. Would really appreciate knowing how to work around this especially since to make my notes clearer, I change the color and the font size which is all lost everytime I have to refresh the PDF :-(

Incidentally, why are there so many updates? I prefer stable software that works rather than 'new features' that I never use!

Finally, Firefox used to have an amazing facility of making the Firefox private browser the default browser for Windows 10 but this was removed some years ago and can only be reinstated by changing registry keys. Everytime there's an update, these registry keys are overwritten :-(. Why was such a useful feature removed please?

I don't know how to fix this in Firefox.

i want to set randome images for background on about:home and about:newpage i dont want to use extensions because it adding "Extension (name)" text in searchbar, also it changes firefox image near "new tab" text. i tryed to make userContent.css in chrome folder in profiles but it can do only 1 image. i cant make JS working for randome images. How to make userChrome.js working or how to remove "Extension (name)" from searchbar?

No bookmarks, says in use by another application. Tried all troubleshooting ideas Can't change name or delete places or favicons - again says in use by another application. Disabled all add-on security.

Download not adding a number to like files when saving. For instance (mycardexp.doc if I download the same named file tomorrow mycardexp.doc it use to add a number like mycardexp(1).doc FF has stopped adding the number showing that multiple files by the same name exist and how many.

Is there a way to hide bookmark names? I have several bookmarks that I keep in the bookmarks toolbar, and I can keep more links there only if I were able to hide bookmark names. I know what the link icon goes to, I just want the space without having to reduce the names of the bookmarks to a few letters. It would be even better if the name I set the bookmark to would appear when the mouse hovers over the link icon.

Why are you NOT clearing browsing data. I click on clear browsing data. Temp Cached files goes to zero. When I open a new browser that data still remains. I insist that you clear data for real not just for show!

15/12/2025 I need to sync my firefox data from my old windows 10 laptop to my new windows 11 laptop. Do I have to download the firefox app on to my new laptop before I can sync it, and will I need a new password if I have to download the app. Im using my old password on my old laptop to write this. On the new laptop, I tried to sign into firefox on the internet but, it said my password is wrong. I'm an oldie and have no idear what to do. Iwill be very grateful for any help. Many Thanks,

Firefox is working but my home page yahoo.com is not displaying. I can open other tabs at will and they work fine. Malware bytes has quarantined the mozilla .exe file and they say this is due to a problem with a firefox update. Do you have a fix for this? My laptop is running Windows 11. your recent upgrade removed my side panel search bookmarks except those that have icons ( icons only)! No description of icon. Those that don't have icons have links but can't read with out hovering for seconds. Impossible to find links quickly!

in the settings I set Google as default search engine. Yet, every once in a while, when I search in the URL field, it searches via Bing, and when I check the settings, it - for whatever reason- has reset Bing as default search engine. I would prefer to get rid of it entirely, is there a may to completely "deinstall" that feature or something?

My computer crashed and so restarted it, when went to open thunderbird got a couldn't load XPCom message. Followed directions to reinstall thunderbird without using the uninstaller. When I installed it, I reloaded my email to set it up. I have lost all my latest emails, only getting them from 15 years ago. and today, nothing from this year. All my folders have also gone and my contacts.

Can someone please help, how do I fix it, I have emails from this year that I need to keep.
