Can't customize most of add-on bar, grayed-out/locked?

I've placed a number of add-ons in the add-on bar, but it seems that after a fairly short period of time, they become uncustomizable, with a diagonally-striped overlay.

Those add-on icons under the overlay can't be moved or removed, and not even resetting all toolbars to default fixes the problem. Thanks!

Mine isn't so bad, the whole bar isn't like this, just the far right, and its always the same icons (they don't "become uncustomizable", they were always uncustomizable). It has been this way even in previous versions, it just wasn't visually noted by having the diagonally-striped overlay.

My best guess is that the "addon bar" is made of two parts: extension icons added to the "addon bar", and older extension icons that were added to the "status bar", and those status bar icons are the ones that can not be customized. If this is the case, the blame will probably be put on the extension developers who need to update them to support the not-so-new-anymore addon bar.

But again, that's just my not-so-educated guess.

Edit: I'm running Firefox 12 on Windows 7 64-bit, not that it really matters.
