Using Firefox with a VPN

I work from home and use OpenVPN for work. When I am connected (most of the day), I have noticed that I receive the "PR_END_OF_FILE_ERROR" on every website I try to visit. Is using Firefox not compatible with an independent VPN? Or is there a setting of some sort that I can adjust to make it work? Thank you!
