the xhtml 1.0 tag 

 <object data="stubdir/filename.pdf" width="711" height="956" type="application/pdf">
    browser does not support pdf embedding</object>

does NOT show the pdf file in embedded pdf viewer when all files are LOCAL. 

(no http access, but only file system access.)

Current version is firefox 43.0. It worked fine a view updates ago (ca. version 39 etc.) (Please help, I urgently need this feature for scientific work !-)
