I don't want my search queries to be saved in the firefox search bar. I usually open a new tab with Ctrl+T, hit Ctrl+K to go to the search bar and hit enter without any keywords. This opens the search engine page (in my case google.com)

Now hitting enter with an empty search bar does nothing. Started happening with the new version 128.

Is there a shortcut alternative to opening the search engine in a new tab?

I used to be able to press Enter in the empty Firefox search bar to bring up the (DuckDuckGo) search page and enter my search from there. Don't ask me why I like doing that, but now after the latest Firefox update, 128.0, on my MacBook Air I can't do that anymore. I have to type in the search bar to bring up the search page.

I know it's a small thing but I wonder if it can be put back to the way it used to be.

Some time back, for me, both browsers would crash frequently when open at he same time. Then, it stopped, but since I don't use Chrome very often, perhaps the behavior was still the in the right circumstances.

Happened today. I was working in Firefox, and had to open Chrome, and a sort time later Firefox crashed, with a crash message. Wouldn't restart.

After several minutes, I had to go to the Task Manager, to find about 20 Firefox processes still active in the "background processes", with one of them at about 31% cpu. A short time later, Chrome crashed.

Has anyone else seen this?

Unable to connect

An error occurred during a connection to www.counterpunch.org.

   The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

So, what should the network connections be (I haven't a clue)! As far as I know the configuration has been automatic up to now; for all other sites it works just fine! Yours is esoteric and has lost me.

I have the same problem as described here [1]: when I open a markdown file in Firefox it uses itself as handler opening it in a new tab, which in turn opens it in a new tab, ... The solution suggested under [1] is how to make Firefox usable again, stopping it from open this particular markdown file. But it doesn't solve the actual problem: either Firefox is capable of rendering markdown in which case it should do it; or it's not in which case it shouldn't try. Does anyone have a thought on that?

Hey guys. Just bought a new pc with a RTX 4070 ti super GPU. FF is my browser, and when i google i see VSR is supported in FF. But watching videos in FF does not activate RTX VSR, it stays inactive in the Nvidea control panel.

When i use Chrome browser it works as it is supposed to, it says active and i can see the video quality is improved. Is the feature just broken in FF at the moment, or is there some settings i can change in FF to make it work today?

(i checked about:config and gfx.webrender.overlay-vp-super-resolution is set to true)

Hi,

I am working on a website- one page uses websockets for data sync, activated with a button - and the socket takes a long time to actually connect (to locahost). During that time, an error pops into console- several of the same:

The connection to [url] was interrupted while the page was loading.

I found several bug reports in various places - most say to close the socket on page unload. I already have that implemented, and checking network dev tab shows all sockets are closed when the errors occur, and they also appear when tested in a whole new window. Also tested on chromium- no issues there.

Any help?

Hi, I have local saved html file which loads images from our security cams The html has only code like this

<html>
<head></head>
	<body>
<script type="text/javascript">
  var height_array = new Array();
<script type="text/javascript">
  var height_array = new Array();
  var width_array = new Array();
  width_array[1] = 320;
  height_array[1] = 240;

<img src="http://192.168.2.2:78/livefeed?oid=1&size=640x480&t=" width="320" height="240" onload='setTimeout(function() {src = src.substring(0, (src.lastIndexOf("t=")+2))+(new Date()).getTime()}, 1000)' onerror='setTimeout(function() {src = src.substring(0, (src.lastIndexOf("t=")+2))+(new Date()).getTime()}, 5000)' alt='' />

<.../script....>

No matter what I change in the "normal" settings - Firefox is not loading the page at all.(file:///Users/drew/Downloads/CAM2.html)

In the left bottom corner it only shows "Performing a TLS Handshake with 192.168.2.2". And thats it. Every other browser is able to open the page and show the camera pictures, only Firefox not. Is there a easy fix for this?

If there's an internal scroll bar for something within a website, Ancestry is a good example of this, I've had to stop using Firefox for it entirely now, you can't get to it, because every time you try, the Firefox one pops up over the top of the internal one. I can't work out how to deal with this, there's multiple sites I use regularly that I have to open in a different browser just to use effectively because of this one issue.
