In the past few weeks my Firefox 55.0.3 (32-bit) keeps crashing continously. The problem started with tab crashing, which was solved temporarly by the

browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false

After this, suddenly the entire browser started to crash randomly (even with fresh reinstall). I have tried the following, but the browser is still crashing, even though my previous install was about 5-6 years old: - Changing performance settings, changing hardware acceleration - Safe mode - Removing addons - Memory check with Windows Memory Diagnostics - Malware, virus check

The crash reason is EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION_READ in every case, however the memory diagnostics didn't show any problem.

Interesting thing that I tried Opera with uBlock Origin plug-in and it also produced the tab crashing symptoms. I am not sure now whether this is hardware or software related problem.

I noticed a few months back that Firefox quantum 65.0.2 (64 bit) uploads are extremely slow. A 186kb image that is uploaded instantly in Chrome or Firefox developer edition (65.0b11 64 bit) takes about 30-45 seconds in quantum, a 900kb image jumps to 14% when I hit upload, then super slowly climbs up by 2%-4% at a time, finally finishing the upload 3 minutes later, and by the time the upload finishes the google captcha I entered has expired and it tells me to retry the upload. The same 900kb image uploads in 2 seconds on chrome and firefox dev. Also some websites like twitch.tv are super slow to load, not even a video stream, the homepage takes about 20 seconds to load, then another 30 seconds for the video to start playing, while the site loads and starts playing the homepage video within a few seconds on chrome and firefox dev. I've tried everything, launching firefox in safe mode, reinstalling firefox and trying with no plugins, switching between system proxy settings and no proxy. Is there anything else I can try? Super annoying having to launch chrome every time I need to upload something.

Thanks

Dramatis Personae:

Me (a Chrome user, but attempting to help a Struggling Co-worker) Struggling Coworker (co-worker who is not tech savvy, prefers Firefox, and would like to keep the Firefox settings he has been using historically) Poser Coworker (the guy who broke Struggling Coworkers Firefox)

Issue:

I am submitting this on behalf a Struggling Coworker. Last week, Poser Coworker made some kind of changes to Struggling Coworker's preferred Brower, Firefox, supposedly to speed up or make Firefox more efficient. Struggling CW is unsure of what Poser CW did, aside from "remove a series panes." As of writing this post, his Firefox runs for a few seconds or minutes and then crashes. Any fixes involving the search box will not work, as the search box does not execute on anything inputted therein (Firefox just sits there doing nothing, no error message, no thinky icon, just the original input information as entered). The issue is not the internet connection nor the hardware, as Struggling CW is using successfully Chrome as a workaround.

Our IT vendor has traditionally been of limited assistance, so while Struggling CW has engaged IT vendor, it may be more efficient to receive feedback from the Mozilla community, where there are people who know what they are talking about and are motivated to fix the problem (as an example, IT vendor cannot even successfully explain to me or provide me instructions for the proper Outlook settings to get it to work with the email server and security settings that they have arranged, while sales tech company's IT successfully instructed me to set up a complicated security device on a different network, so it's not me!)

I have already attempted the fix recommended here (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1075976); the problem persists as described. My objectives here are to get Firefox fully functional without losing any Struggling CW's settings or profile data. The issue, I am guessing, is either with Firefox or some process that Firefox uses with his operating platform and/or his PC).

Hello,

I have two issues and think they might be related somehow, based on date coincidence.

Earlier today I successfully updated Firefox on my Windows 10 computer (54.0.1 to 55.0)

When I went to update Firefox on my Windows 7 computer, it tells me my "Firefox 54.0.1 32-bit" is up to date.

Why is the 55.0 update not appearing? I worry about security vulnerabilities, am I at risk here?

The second issue is that all my Extensions no longer appear under "about:addons", while I am logged into my standard user account. Adblock Plus and Fireshot should appear here, but it tells me "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed". However, the ABP icon appears on the upper right of the browser window, and is working properly. I keep Fireshot disabled most of the time, only enabling it when I need it.

This has never happened before, and things were like they should be just a day or two ago.

I noticed this on the same day I installed Firefox 55.0 on my Windows 10 computer. Oddly enough, on Windows 10, Firefox marks ABP as Legacy, saying that a big change is coming up regarding add-ons in November, and marks Fireshot as not compatible with this version of Firefox.

However, Firefox 55.0 hasn't been installed on my Windows 7 computer. I have automatic updating turned off, I check for and install Firefox updates manually.

I'm not sure what to do. I'm tempted to see if this sorts itself out if I wait, or when I can install the 55.0 update.

Any assistance you can give me is appreciated...

I need to configure Firefox in an enterprise environment. Other that using 3rd part group policy templates which I do not want to do, the only option I have found to lock it down is using preference files. This will lock down Firefox but I need a way to stop an admin user from manually editing the configuration files.

I thought of using a group policy preference to copy the preference files on every GP refresh but it can take up to 90 minutes for the policy to apply. Is there a better way to lock down the files themselves?

Firefox automatically opens www.salesforce.com/products/sales-cloud/overview/ on startup, instead of my designated homepage. Strangely, it only occurs on one of my computers, even though I'm using the same sync account on both. I've tried deleting the cache, all cookies, and even deleted the Firefox profile and created a new one, to no avail. I also verified that the website is not included in the Windows shortcut target. This is on Firefox Quantum 59.0.2 64-bit on Windows 10.

So basically, Iv been trying to access steam & thesimsresource but weirdly an error message comes up It looks like this:

Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at www.thesimsresource.com.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Im really confused as this has never happened before. If you have an answer to my problem please explain in a simple way as all this is extremely complicated.

When I clink on a link in an email, how can I get Firefox not to open to my home page and the link from my email? It always opens 2 pages. One is the link page and one is my homepage. "The confirmation email we sent to n*******@****.** was returned and we’ve locked your account to protect your Firefox data."

I'm pretty sure emails to that account are not bouncing. Could you please unlock my account so that I can access my sync account through THAT email, which actually accepts emails as I've tested many times? (For example, this mozilla account is linked to the same email address, for which I received a confirmation email from Mozilla itself a few minutes ago)

After my husband logs in and Firefox starts up, he continues to get window to Restart Firefox To Update. When I click on About Firefox it also indicates that we have to Restart Firefox To Update. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from Mozilla.org 3 times now and this problem continues. Refresh also does not eliminate the problem. Clicking on Firefox in Applications file identifies version as 49.0.2. Operating system is OS X El Capitan 10.11.6

When I log in to Firefox under my user, I do not have any problems.

Ever since the new update, thanks Mozilla, my problems with Plugin-Container have returned. By now you should take note that this application doesn't work for everyone and that disabling it shouldn't be an Einstein project.

So now Flash Player is back inside the app and the following things happen: -Jittery effect in full screen, lack of V-Sync -Slow loading times -Tabs using flash acting rusty

Deleting the program and using the MOZ_DISABLE_OOP_PLUGINS method doesn't work. And also inside about:config I can't find anything. It hurts just to watch a 20 second video, let alone a 20-40 minute episode.

Edit: Another problem can be included in the list. From time to time I take screenshots from videos at full screen. Previously this would result in a very nice screenshot, no problems. Now I either get a black box or a screenshot as if I didn't enlarge the video to fullscreen.

Hello. I am experiencing constant BSOD crashes since Firefox updated to Quantum. It happends shortly after seemingly unrelated actions: opening a link, clicking video to play, or even attempting to close the app. Turning hardware acceleration off didn't solve the problem, although my PC is Sony VAIO laptop with combined Intel/Nvidia graphics which (probably) may complicate things. Resetting Firefox didn't help either. O/s is Windows 7. I also have KAV.
