Hello,
Since a few days I cannot start Firefox. The process starts, but hangs with a fixed memory space and zero cpu usage, and the main window simply does not start. No crash report is created. Killing the process and try again is the only option.
I tried starting Firefox as Administrator, which does work (but is hardly recommended from a security perspective), and so does starting Firefox when Windows is in Safe Mode. Firefox also starts when the TrendMicro OfficeScan processes are stopped, but this is hardly a solution in a business environment, being admin on my machine is already a special case.
Periodically, in rare events, Firefox starts, but the next time the issue is back.
After trying several troubleshooting procedures, I have tried performing a clean install, to no avail:
- Delete Mozilla folders from App Data (both Roaming and Local)
- Uninstall Firefox
- Delete possibly remaining Mozilla Firefox folder in Program Files (x86)
- Run CCleaner
- Restart
- Re-install
Currently I'm looking into a procedure that would help me determine with certainty if OfficeScan is indeed guilty, and try to prove it to my IT service in order to get them to escalate to TrendMicro. Of course, if OfficeScan is not guilty, finding a solution would be perfect, too...
System information:
- Windows 7 Enterprise SP1
- TrendMicro OfficeScan
- Firefox latest release, 40.0.2 at the moment, from stub installer.
