I have seen where Google Chrome will be ending support for Java in their fall 2015 release as well as Microsoft will be doing the same with "Project Spartan".

Does Firefox intend to continue supporting Java into the future?

What I am reffering to by "supporting Java" is in the educational world we use software that requires direct Java support for the software to be used. In particular I am reffering to Ellucian's BANNER and Evision's ARGOS.

Without Java support we cannot use these two very essential systems unless we continue to hold onto operating systems that are slowly but surely becoming out dated. ie... Windows7 and even then we have to turn off or refuse updates of the browsers to maintain useability.

When logging out of Hotmail. The page loaded is directed to MSN, which I don't want. I want it to default to my home page. There used to be a user script loaded automatically when using GreaseMonkey add-on. This made Mozilla go to my default home page. i.e Google. Now I can't stop MSN loading. Where has the user script gone? It used to work fine but seems to have disappeared with the Mozilla upgrade.

The LONG list of sites that I go to ,like Ebay.com, or WalMart.com, you know 'address'. I have like a list of 15 that wont go away, i click on the tiny box that is next to each address and it just sends me there. Or highlights it in light blue, then zips me there. I try to delete them and it just sends me there. I mean saving a few is ok, ones i go to alot, but ones that I have gone to once, are being saved on that list. And I would like to get rid of them. Hope this makes sense. I am using Windows 7, and obviously FireFox.

I've noticed recently that Firefox stopped playing YouTube videos and showing only black screen where supposed to be a video. So after a lot of research, many people claimed that this is flash player problem. I tried to install earlier version but that didn't change anything. So I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded older, but stable version (34.0.5). And voila! YouTube shows videos again. After a week I noticed that YouTube again shows black screen box. Unintentionally, I opened Revo Uninstall and saw that there's TWO Firefoxes installed - one is that I personally installed and another is newest Firefox 37.0.2. So I uninstalled latest Firefox, but unfortunately it also uninstalled my older version Firefox. So this time I again installed older Firefox (34.0.5) and made that it never look for updates and won't install them. YouTube started to play well. After a few days, again Youtube doesn't show videos, only sound plays, and you can see actual video frames by pointing cursor on video time line. So I checked installed applications and AGAIN found mysteriously installed latest Firefox with the old one. So can anybody help me to stop latest Firefox automatic installation and only leave the old one? Any solution would be very appreciated.

Hi folks, I've been trying to make changes to the height of the TAB and Bookmark bars to make better use of area in Firefox, similar to how Chrome has a condensed 'control' area. Firefox uses about twice the vertical space as Chrome does - all for the same content. See attached image.

I've found a few posts with chrome/userchrome.css stylesheet additions. But they seem not to work as expected. tabbrowser-height seems to stick at something larger than 20px - setting 15px doesn't reduce the tab height. I've looked for a way to mod the icon sizes (since they are probably why the tab height is sticky). But I have only found the bookmark bar icon size control.

Last - it seems I don't really understand the syntax for the .css, since chaining these also is problematic.

Is there a concise .css guidebook and .css for Firefox primer?

Or, anyone know how to do this that would care to provide a corrected version of this:

.tabbrowser-tabs *|tab {

   font-size: 12px !important;
   height:    15px !important;
   min-width: 8px !important };

.toolbarbutton-icon {height: 15px !important; width: 15px !important }

Ok I was wandering what would happen if I would have full html5 features on youtube So I searched on internet and found out how to enable the features so I ended up enabling this on firefox

media.mediasource.enabled;true media.mediasource.mp4.enabled;true media.fragmented-mp4.exposed;true media.fragmented-mp4.use-blank-decoder;true

After I enabled this features I got the ability to watch 1080P videos and even 60 fps versions were available but the sound did not work anymore. Instead of the original video audio I was getting one long tone sound.

So is there a way to fix this issue or I should create a bug report?

Thank you for your time

On Wednesday I opened Firefox on my WORK computer (PC) after a long hiatus and it recommended I refresh Firefox since I hadn't used it in so long. It said it would preserve all my bookmarks, etc. Did so, everything was fine.

Yesterday I logged on to Firefox on my HOME computer (Mac) and then about a minute later my very detailed Bookmarks toolbar started to change and is missing tons of bookmarks and looks completely/different disorganized. I logged onto Firefox sync hoping it would look like my WORK computer again but it did not.

Today I'm back on my WORK computer. I logged into sync since I guess the refresh on Wednesday had logged me out. And now my WORK computer looks like the same bookmark mess as my HOME computer. I wanted it to sync the other way around - make my HOME computer look like my WORK computer!

How can I get my bookmarks back and make that happen? Thank you!

Hello,

Recently my C: Drive keeps filling up due to tremendous amounts of Crash Reports being generated by Mozilla. Within a couple of hours use I am filling up 2-3Gb of space.

I identified that the culprits are '*.dmp' files located in c:\Documents and Settings\Myusername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\pending.

I uninstalled and re-installed Firefox but the issue is still there. I never had this problem before but noticed that my C: Drive started to experience this problem when I added 'Ghostery' and 'Script Blocker' as Add-on's.

I have disabled the Script Blocker but this has not helped either. Can someone please advise as to why Firefox has started to create thousands of dump files all of a sudden?

Thanks

Spell check stopped working a few days ago on my Windows 7 desktop computer. I use the same version of Firefox on my Windows 7 laptop and the spell check works normally on that machine. The "Check my spelling as I type" option is ticked. I have used Firefox for many years and gone through many versions, and never had this problem before.

I use the English UK language version of Firefox.

When I visit the same websites on this computer using Internet Explorer, the spell check works. This includes Outlook.com web based e-mail and numerous forum sites I frequent. No problem when using Microsoft Outlook for my ISP e-mail nor with MS Word.

I disabled numerous plug-ins that I rarely use, and this had no effect. I tried the "Refresh Firefox" option and then completely uninstalled Firefox and re-installed a fresh copy off the Mozilla website, and neither one of those options corrected the problem.

What now?

A few days ago I've been unable to watch YouTube videos in 720 or 1080. The videos themselves play just fine but the only option available in quality is 360 and that's it. Even on videos that I know can be watched on settings that are higher especially the HD ones. I have no idea what is up. Nothing seems wrong on my end and I have no viruses. I'm hoping this is something on YouTube's end and that this problem will be fixed up soon. I also notice that speed option on the videos are back again and whenever that appears something seems to go wrong with the videos. For me at least. Any ideas on what this could be? Is anyone else experiencing this too? I'm hoping it goes back to normal but it's been a few days and it's still like this.

I think it started happening with Firefox 37.

I'm trying to process a credit card payment for Norwegian Airlines. When taking me to the Verified by Visa page on my credit card account ( https://www.vpv.scddesjardins.com/ ) I get the secured connection failed page: "An error occurred during a connection to www.vpv.scddesjardins.com. SSL received a record with an incorrect Message Authentication Code. (Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_read) " Their server seems to be still running SSL 3.0 and some other terrible things, but on another website I had this issue I got a different error message. Should I be contacting my credit card company, and if so what should I be asking them to do? I can't give a public page, obviously, and though I tried to test it on Chrome, they're charging me 7 EUR more for the flight on Chrome than Firefox (just another reason to use FF!).

Firefox Sync on my laptop does not work when my laptop is connected to my home network, but e.g. if I'm at my office.

The internet connection at my home is fine, I can surf the web with that very Firefox on both IPv4 and IPv6, DNS etc. is also working. Logging in to accounts.firefox.com also works, as does connecting Firefox to the Sync account. Only the process of syncing itself fails. On my desktop computer at home, I have exactly the same problems. When I open https://sync-209-us-west-2.sync.services.mozilla.com/ in a browser tab, I see a confirmation message that sync runs on that server, so apparently the network path between my computer and that server is free.

Upon investigation with Wireshark, I see the successful TLS handshake, then some packets from the client that are not answered and after some time the server closes the connection (Encrypted Alert). Apparently, no content is transferred between client and server. I attach a screenshot of how Wireshark sees the conversation between server and client (The image upload here didn't work so I put it on the web: http://ibin.co/1zXABHKdj5mA).

To exclude a possible misconfiguration or bad add-on, I created a clean new Firefox profile and connected it to my Firefox account, but this shows exactly the same problems.

Fun fact: Firefox on my Android phone does sync in my home network.

Below, I will link two log files, one successful sync (office network) and one failed sync (home network): Sync @ office: http://pastebin.com/rZmfrbdL Sync @ home: http://pastebin.com/a3KUCevJ
