After turing off dom.ipc.plugin at "about:config" I can view video, but Firefox became unstable. It crashes when I attempted to download a program, or open a site occasionally.

I do not wish to continue using Firefox 13, but to downgrade to a lower version (previous version), so that I may resume video downloading with RealPlayer downloader.

Problem: I am not able to uninstall or remove Firefox 13 using Window "Uninstall a Program" tool. Is there other way that I may I uninstall Firefox 13?'

Updated Firefox to newest version. Upon restarting Firefox it crashes with BEX error code. Deactivated all anti-spyware, removed all traces of Firefox and did a new re-install, and tried to open in Safe Mode but it still crashes upon start with same error code. (Firefox only runs on initial install but upon restart always crashes) Attempted to find an older version of firefox but can not find older version. I do not see any help related to the severity of my crashes. How do you fix the BEX crash?

Upgraded from FC15 to FC16. Firefox upgraded to version 11.0. Everything seemed to be okay post-upgrade (which happened on the 5th). This morning it had crashed and would not start even in safe-mode.

from yum log:
Apr 05 09:44:51 Updated: firefox-11.0-1.fc15.x86_64
Apr 09 08:06:22 Installed: firefox-11.0-1.fc16.x86_64

Removed/reinstalled Firefox. Tried a manual install, and firefox will not run.

./firefox
XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /home/jrmuir/firefox/libxpcom.so:
libxul.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Couldn't load XPCOM.

But both libxpcom.so and libxul.so exist, which doesn't make much sense. Based off an strace I'd say that it's looking everywhere ld.so.conf/cache indicate but skipping the install directory (which is the cwd when initiating the run).

Youtube videos freeze after 2 seconds of play...audio continues for about 5 seconds tops. The whole browser becomes unresponsive and I have to ctrl+alt+del to the process level to close FF16.

This is a fresh install after I uninstalled my customized version, so BONE STOCK FF16 is failing me. I have tried 11.4 flash current release and 11.2 flash release to get my problem solved.

NO CRASH IDs. No formal crash per se, just a totally unresponsive browser.

By the way....Chrome runs youtube without incident. WTF.

Additionally, this problem doesn't exist on my install of Waterfox...an open source 64bit variant of FF 15. Maybe I have some sort of x64 issue. I think that might be the issue with the 32bit standard FF16 build. Still wonder why this happened in the first place.

Hi. Whenever I tried to change language input to enter other languages Firefox freeze (program not responding).

It happens as soon as I hit alt+shift or when I click language bar to select other language.

It also happens with several languages (that I tested, might be all), and I tried various input software/mode including windows default, all freeze. Reset Firefox under help does not work either.

This issue occur with Firefox and Chrome, but not IE... Might not be Firefox problem as it happen w Chrome, but and ideas please? Thanks.

J

Edit:

  • regedit might be changed, but do not believe touched internet setting.
  • I can enter foreign language as long as I set that language to default, and do not change to other language in the language bar. Currently I am using foreign language input software as default, and switch to English input within that software.

I need help. Since at least in v14 and now v15, FF hangs becoming unresponsive whenever plugin-container.exe is loaded in memory, as monitored with Process Explorer of SysInternals. This happens in FF with all plugins manually disabled and with no extensions, loaded in either "normal" or safe mode, even after having reset it to default state in about:support. (The unresponsiveness is not absolute, since every some 90 seconds there is a brief refresh of the screen as indicated by an acknowledging screen change due to a prior click or mouse motion. (In this quasi-frozen condition, FF slowly ramps up its memory usage while plugin-container keeps alternating between two smaller vales in Process Explorer.) After some 15-20+ minutes, plugin-container unloads itself and FF starts responding again. If I then visit a page that triggers the loading of plugin-container, the described problem develops once more. Blocking the loading of plugin-container (e.g.,renaming or moving it out or blocking it with the firewall) hangs FF. The solution for FF 3.6.6 for dom.ipc in about:config does not work in these versions.

Ironically, the Mozilla support page about "Firefox crashes when loading certain pages" (http://goo.gl/i02Xz) is a page that loads automatically plugin-container and hangs my machine, so I had to enter the forums by selecting a different problem.

This occurs in a Windows-7 machine with sufficient memory (1025 MB physical, 1025 MB virtual) and a lean configuration (monitored and enforced with Autoruns and Process Explorer), which runs very well other browsers such as Chrome, Opera o IE9. I have been using FF since its v2 and would hate to switch permanently to a different browser. Any informed advice on how to fix the problem (or disable the plugin- container in a working manner) would be much appreciated. TIA.

ieSnare is a "protection system" used by certain websites (often gambling) which installs a *.sol file (flash cookie) into a file system, supposedly indicating a fraudulent machine. This may then be read by other sites using ieSnare, who often just shut down Firefox when encountering it. It's possible to find and delete *.sol files, but they are quickly reinstalled when an ieSnare site is entered. BTW - I'm not a fraudulent operator...
