I normally use Firefox desktop on my Linux computer.

Last week, I started using it on a public computer running Windows. I installed Firefox Portable and then logged/synced into my Firefox account on this Win computer. I noticed that in the Firefox Portable Windows “about:preferences” page, it says “Your browser is being managed by your organization”, which links to about:policies. In that “about:policies” page, it shows this https://i.imgur.com/JmD8nXg.png Policy Name: DisableAppUpdate Policy Value: true. Now I’m back on my Linux desktop computer and it also has this “managed by your organization” message in “about:preferences” and the same “about:policies” stuff. In other words, it appears that this policy was copied from the Windows public computer to my personal Linux computer. I don’t want that.

How can I undo this? And how can I block this sort of policy syncing?

I begin to use firefox developer edition alongside firefox regular version. I've read some article that say if these 2 difference version using 2 seperate different profile, but it seems they're not. For example, when I change the theme to light for firefox and dark for firefox devedition, they always syncing each other so it use the theme the last set regardless where is set.

My question, is firefox and firefox devedition really using 2 seperate different profile? Can I use different setup like themes, addons for only one version? Where I can read the official documentation?

Hi, Approximately 8 years ago, I deleted my google account, which I use on firefox. And 5 years ago, I lost my computer as well. When I tried to sync firefox data on my new computer, firefox asked me to verify via email, which is deleted. I have no longer an access to my google account to verify, and the only way to sync my old firefox account is losing my old data. I had to create a new firefox account. Is there any way to restore my profile data? (Note: I am sending this question via the same account that I need to restore profile data from). Regards

Two Qs Please.

If I have 2 computers that are out of sync (for an unimportant reason):

1. To which computer does it sync? I have one I want to sync to the other, but am not sure how to chose which one is the one that is synced to. -- Is there a way to direct this?

2. If I unistal FF on one computer and not the other. When I reinstall which computer will sync to which? (If unistall makes the above Q have a different answer).

Very similar to posts in previous years that are archived and largely unanswered or not up-to-date.

I opened up my a Firefox session to find out I was logged out of sync and when I logged back in all my passwords where erased.

This has been stable for the last 10 months and Firefox has provided a reliable password archive with nice syncing features. However, this is a deal breaker, since I cannot loose the login credentials randomly.

No updates. No conscious logging out. No disregarding warnings etc.

Anyway to revert or retrieve?

I've lost the password to my Firefox account, which hasn't been a problem moving onto new mobile devices since I can just use the QR code generated by my PC browser to Sync. But now I have a new laptop and I've downloaded extensions/apps to read those same QR codes from the new laptop's webcam, but Firefox is still prompting me to put in a password. Is there a way around this or am I going to have to reset my password and lose all my encrypted data? Thanks for the help.

Hi!

Yesterday I installed Linux Mint. Before that, I was using Windows 10. Now, after signing in to my Firefox account on Linux, all my bookmarks and passwords are gone. Then I tried to log in again on Windows, but everything was gone. Is there a way to get back and recover all my passwords and bookmarks?

Okay, so I decided to sync my Firefox from my laptop with my work computer. I wasn't thinking about it also making all my passwords available on my work computer, which I do not want. I thought just signing out and using the browser 'un synced' would mean the passwords weren't available, but nope. While signed out, if click into passwords I can still see them all. So my question: If I delete the passwords from here (signed out) on my work computer, will it also delete them from my laptop browser (that is signed in)?
