Why does Firefox keep losing my open windows and tabs after a restart?

Over the last 5 or 6 months, Firefox seems to have lost the capacity to remember my open tabs if my Mac is forced to restart. These open tabs are vital to my workflow. If this can't be solved, I shall have to migrate to another browser, which is something I do not wish to do.

My Firefox version is 147.0.4; my computer a Mac Studio 2025 M3 Ultra; my OS Tahoe 26.3.

Please advise.

I have upgraded my PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11 and my Firefox bookmarks have disappeared. I understand that Firefox keeps a copy of my bookmarks which appear each time I start Firefox, so how can I make them appear again automatically when I open Firefox?

My previous attempts to recover the data via standard recovery functions have unfortunately been unsuccessful.
