Seemingly randomly, when opening a new tab, FF freezes up completely.

This has only started happening today. After starting my PC, I opened up FF. Upon opening Dicord in a tab (3rd tab, YouTube and Twitter were previous and still open) and clicking on it while loading, it froze. A white line appeared at the top, and FF overlapped, and thus hid, my task bar. Waiting (5 min) did nothing, so I clicked and the "... is not responding" dialogue popped up, and I closed it.

Upon starting again, it restored the tabs that were previously open. I could swap between use them normally. However, when I opened a link in a new tab, it froze again.

After another restart, not even the new empty tab would load, freezing again, and every try afterwards.

Starting in troubleshooting mode or reseting did nothing (though I may not have waited long enough, an 'Old Firefox Data' folder was created and filled, but no window opened). I ran the installer again, which resulted in me having to redo some Addon settings, but worked fine for a while (~1h maybe?), before freezing again. A PC restart fixed it again for a longer while, but then it happened again, this time while trying to write this. Additionally, there was a freeze while clicking into the Subject field here, after which the even the new tabs froze again.

Another PC restart seems to have allowed me to use FF again, while I tipped this on my phone.

Hardware acceleration is off, History deletes every time I close FF, Addons on or off don't seem to matter. CPU and RAM aren't even near fully used. Drivers are up to date, Windows as well. (Running a System File Check right now, as I have upgraded to Win10 only a few days ago, although I was able to use FF during those days without issue, and the PC has been shut down in between as well. The SFC said it found and repaired files, though it didnt say anything other than that, so that might just be a "We found no issues and fixed those." translation kinda thing.)

I really don't know what else to do.

Hello, I listed this is the "Other" section because it involves more than just installation of Firefox. I am using version 97.0.2 and will be installing the most current version within a day or so. I have NO issues with the current version, nor expect any with any future updates I install. With that being stated I will ask my question...

I have a CCTV setup at my home that have the feature of web remote viewing and control. I don't use any other browser other than Firefox...have uninstalled both IE11 and Edge, blocking Edge from being reinstalled. I can NOT use the CCTVs remote web feature because their software is out-dated and I suspect unsupported any longer. I have already downloaded and installed the Firefox required web plug-in but the version of Firefox is TOO NEW. The Software suggested that I install an older version of the 32-Bit Firefox, version 56 or 57 if my memory is correct...

I current Firefox is 64-Bit, installed on the C Drive. Can I install a second Firefox, 32-Bit on perhaps my D or E Drive without corrupting my 64-Bit install and profile? I understand that doing so, and using the older version then there would be a security issue fore prolonged browsing. But, when using this older version to access my CCTV...once done, I would no longer browse with that older version of Firefox. A temporary and quick solution. A 10 minute browsing in a once in a great while exception.

Your feedback and support would be greatly appreciated?

Update 99.0 made my firefox unusable-It would operate for a few seconds to a minute and then stop responding and would stop immediately if adding an extension or signing in to my profile-mouse still moves but can't get any response clicking on anything, even closing the program-had to repeatedly close using the task manager. Cleared using the firefox reset command did not fix. Uninstalled then reinstalled 99.0 and the behaviour resumed. Uninstalled and reinstalled 97.0.2 and is working fine. What's up?????????????????????????

Hi,

Something seems to be happening with my Gmail. After some time, it stops updating. When attempting to reload the page, no requests are even sent from Firefox. When attempting to load it in a new tab, I get an endless loading sign but no indication a request is actually being sent (no request in network tab, no domain in the bottom corners as happens when loading a page).

All other Google products load correctly.

The solutions I've found are to log out of Google and log back in or clear cache/cookies/etc for Google. However, after some time this issue pops up again.

I've already rebooted the machine, done latest update, cleared site cache etc etc etc. and this keeps happening.

When I try to click "upload" on any website, the button doesn't respond at all. I don't get the dialogue to choose a file, it's as if I never click the button in the first place. On certain websites I can get around it when they offer the feature to drag files to upload, but there are a lot of times where I can't do that and I have to try Safari to see if that works. I've tried to clear all cookies and cache, and that didn't solve this issue. I've attempted to turn off the "Enhanced Tracking Protection" for websites where I regularly need to upload files just in case that was blocking the script, but I have no idea what's going on or how to solve this.

Hello, please see the subject line for question. I goofed when writing. Thanks for your help we appreciate it. our operating system is windows 10 not 8 as listed.

I'll repeat, whenever yahoo.com is being accessed from Firefox there is an error message. This is a first as we have used this browser for many yrs. After relocating this has become a problem. Edge browser seems to be interfering. Please fix and thank you.

My computer almost feels like it's been infected with some sort of virus but from the other posts I understand that this is, for some reason, an issue where user control has become non-existent and that's how it was built. When I try any of the workarounds mentioned here I still have a choice between only gray and white for the background depending on what the theme is? I've tried both and many pages with the gray background open with red or green text and other sites with the white will show bright yellow text. I use Firefox for the outstanding privacy and speed and have for more that 10 years. Another reason was the control I had in making the page my own but that seems to have been taken away for some reason. Does anyone know how to actually regain that control without unsupported workarounds. Apparently the only actual choice is to install WIN11 (which has, once again, changed where menu items can be found and some disappeared altogether). Two miserable choices because someone thought forcing all pages to follow simple, but nonsensical rules. I've added a screenshot page from Ars Technica to illustrate. (I can't seem to add a link to the article without the long URL showing) The entire article is white text and simply disappears. What can I do to regain control?

Recently, a few days ago, I've switched to Windows 10 and had no problem before switching. Now, some videos are being played like: https://old.reddit.com/r/CatsBeingCats/comments/t7dio2/cats_can_play_fetch_too/ And other don't like: https://old.reddit.com/r/CatsBeingCats/comments/t76xw0/what_he_comes_out_of_a_crack/

I have installed the Media Feature Pack already and cleaned the cookie cache and all of the history and updated the blockers and disabled all the plugins (including the theme) and completely reinstall the whole browser while not logging into my account and it still doesn't work. But it has no problem in Troubleshoot mode or if I open it in Internet Explorer.

The video bar, settings, fullscreen mode, all comes up, but the video is stuck in a loop of loading forever. Never stopping and playing the video, just loading and the circle just rotating.
