I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

Formerly there used to be a Firefox icon in the top left of the Firefox window (left of the menu bar; I'm not sure if it was actually part of the menu bar or not). This icon no longer appears. I found it useful because I use several browsers, and it's handy sometimes to be sure which one I'm in! Also to tell the difference between regular Firefox and DeveloperEdition (Red and Blue icons respectively). Is there any way I can get this icon to display in current versions of Firefox? Please note I'm NOT asking how to display the menu bar. I can do that.

I had like over 100 tabs lol but I had a Windows Update. My laptop froze while I had Firefox open. After the laptop restarted, I realized the new patches didn't get applied before Windows started up again, so after Windows started back up, (I did not open Firefox at all during this cycle) I went to Windows Update and hit Restart to apply the updates. After the updates got patched in and Windows restarted, I went to open Firefox and it just opens the home page.

I do have Restore Previous Session upon Startup checkmarked.

Tried restoring from the 3 line Menu button but the Restore option is not there.

Did try under History in the Menu bar but my Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs are greyed out.

Tried the Library icon's Recently Closed Windows and Recently Closed Tabs within History and they both show up as (Empty)

Went to my Profile's folder into the sessionstore-backups folder and there's only 2 small 44kb files there both that were created when I started Firefox up: recovery.baklz4 and recovery.jsonlz4 ... the sessionstore-backups folder itself was also created when I started up Firefox after my Windows Update.

I read thru stuff like https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1204253 I do not have any files that have previous.jsonlz4 or upgrade.jsonlz4 like mentioned in my sessionstore-backups folder... not sure if they may be somewhere else like in 1 of the Temp folders somewhere else in Windows folder.

If I uninstall last Windows Updates, would it revert my Firefox Profiles folder to what it previous was or does Uninstalling last Windows Updates have no effect on the Firefox folder?

hi All, I had a disk crash and had to reinstall Win10, which cleverly backs up everthing in a .OLD file.

Back in the midst of time I did something 'clever' (Read: stupid) and by the looks of things (directory size) I kept my FF profile in MyDocuments (why???). Anyway, importing that profile has lost my passwords!!!

I have my bookmarks but they've been imported into a 'higher' directory and I need to view them through the popup box as they're not visible on the toolbar. I also have all my history and download history.

I'm a good boy and have a different password for every site and a variety of email addresses, so needless to say, it's going to be a pain to reset everything. I also imported the profiles from appdata\..\profiles but nothing of any use was there.

please help.

TIA Adrian

I subscribe to a number of separate "Things" hosted by a single company (silly example) http://stuffstuff.co.uk. My user name for each of the separate things is "mr-silly@silly.co.uk" and the only thing that differentiates them is that each "Thing" requires a different password.

Thing 1 Username: mr-silly@silly.co.uk Password: 1sillything Thing 2 Username: mr-silly@silly.co.uk Password: 2anothersillything Thing 3 Username: mr-silly@silly.co.uk Password: 3moresillything

and so on...

Unfortunately this Lockwise thing will not permit this to happen, presenting the following stupid message.

"An entry for http://stuffstuff.co.uk with that username already exists. Go to existing entry?"

How do I get around this Lockwise silliness?

The email address is required as the user name by the company.

Don't suggest having a different email address for each user name, that is not possible.

While the question maybe posed in a silly manner  :-) I am quite serious about the problem. Thanks Ax

why cannot we permanently get rid of the datareporting folder that is created in the profiles folder? It has been stated before that "no data is collected" yada yada yada when the particular options are set, and they are, yet the folder still reappears. I so not allow tab restore, all privacy settings are set to prevent this that i can find; changed in about:config toolkit.telemetry.unified to false toolkit.telemetry.enabled to false datareporting.healthreport.service.enabled to false toolkit.telemetry.archive.enabled to false user_pref("datareporting.healthreport.service.enabled", false); user_pref("datareporting.healthreport.uploadEnabled", false); user_pref("datareporting.policy.dataSubmissionEnabled", false); user_pref("toolkit.telemetry.unified", false);

Stop it please. It slows down page loads and if, IF, no data is collected, why create it???

Hello,

My wife and I both use the same computer and before, she used to use Firefox exclusively while I used Chrome exclusively. I've decided to move away from Chrome and into Firefox myself. I have discovered the use of different "Profiles" to keep our browser separate. I even created two shortcuts to load up our profiles separately. However, it keeps the firefox icon on the taskbar the same for both of us. While I don't see a Huge issue with it long-term potentially, is there a possibility I can make it so Firefox opens in a way that there are two different... programs? Where she has one icon on the taskbar, and I have my own? That way it is truly "separate"?

Thank you.

I use Firefox sync to share logins and passwords between my home and work computer. I set this up a few years ago. Now I want to sync another computer, but I don't remember the sync password. I believe it's written in a code book in my office, which has been closed due to Covid 19 since March. How can I change my sync password while preserving my login and password info? Many of my passwords were generated by Firefox and not something I would ever remember.

I can see my current logins and passwords on a sync enabled computer, so in theory I can copy and re-enter them all. But there are hundreds, and that would many hours. If I was willing to do this, is there a way that I can enter the logins and passwords into a table in Firefox without having to visit every website, log in, and re-save the login info? At this point my only two options seem to be to not use my sinced profile on that computer, or to spend all day manually setting everything up again. Thanks.

I am launching a website in the Site Specific Browser (-ssb) mode from a command line.

Command Line: firefox.exe -ssb https://appsrv38-eam.rizing.io:443/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/vesta/ge_lam_c/index.html?sap-client=200&&geoid=FLG01AGP&&lrpid=0100000032&&sapobject=NO&&strno=U-G-D-OH-M-44224-028

This site has dropdowns (HTML Select Elements):

<select class="inputInfo" id="objTypes" ></select>

After I launch the website the dropdowns will not expand with a mouse click. I have posted a screenshot of the site. If it is launched in -ssb mode the dropdowns will not expand. If I launch the site in -kiosk mode or with a normal Firefox browser the dropdowns expand fine. Everything works as it should. Its just with the -ssb mode that I am having these issues. I am populating the dropdowns with some Javascript but I have used normal HTML to populate the dropdowns as well but neither will expand in -ssb mode.

If anyone has any idea of why this is happening please let me know.

Thanks, Ray

In Windows 10, in a tablet environment, things aren't working properly. I'm referring primarily to the onscreen keyboard. In Windows Tablet mode, an onscreen keyboard should appear in address bar and text fields. Firefox is killing that onscreen keyboard. The keyboard appears, but then immediately disappears. There also is a visual glitch occurring in the title-bar simultaneous with the killing of the OSK (on screen keyboard). This only happens in Firefox. OSK in MS Edge functions great for example. In desktop mode, but still physically in a tablet environment (Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1, folded, portrait mode for example), no OSK appears at all anywhere. This is not working well for me and will likely be a problem for others as we continue to approach the future. I truly hope that Firefox prioritizes Windows 10 tablet environments. It really is going to be important to many users.

I am running firefox 82.0, 64bit. I came home today and when i opened firefox to my home page, the primary theme/background is the same, but the text boxes are now pure white. I had them set to a brown color, and chrome shows my homepage with the correct text box color of brown. I have tried using Options/fonts and colors, and it does nothing. What do I need to do to get the text box backgrounds back to a more soothing contrast color?
