I am trying to install the OpenH264 Add-in from the Add-ins section on a Firefox 68.9.0-esr.1 version running Raspbian "Buster" which is up to date. Even though the Firefox is installed correctly and connected to the internet this add-in keeps displaying a warning or info sticker saying "OpenH264 Video CODEC is provided by Cisco Systems, Inc - Will be installed shortly.

I have waited hours for it to start to download, tried restarting Firefox, even rebooted the entire system will no success.

Even tried to download it manually from the OpenH264 site but could not find a .xpi or .jar file to plug in.

Can anyone help as to how I can make this Add-in download happen inside Firefox please?

Looks like Firefox has a default directory for file selection dialogues and automatically creates the directory when the directory does not exist.

If I can specify a different default directory, this problem will be solved.

I also noticed that I cannot remove "$HOME/Desktop" item in the side bar in file selection dialogue. This is also disturbing. Is there a way to remove it?

Hi,

I only get gifs to play if I hover the mouse over them. They take a very long time to load, and if I move my mouse off they stop trying to play. I'd like them to just automatically play and not have to baby every single gif I come across.

This problem has been going on for serveral months now, and I've tried deleting cookies, clearning my cash, removing and installing firefox, starting in safe mode, making sure addons were all turned off....

I have autoplay in preferences turned on, so I'm at a loss here on how to fix this.

I don't know why, but when I try to open a file in firefox 77.0.1(64-bit) It's not opening even though I navigate to file -> Open File, it's also not working, even though I press ctrl+o it's also not working. Am using Debian 10.

Some background, Debian default is Firefox ESR which works flawlessly, but it's missing my favorite Firefox feature Screenshot, i take a lot of screenshot in a typical day, of the web stuff am doing. So what I did is to install another Firefox using snap, and it has it(screenshot), but this snap Firefox's CTRL+0 does not work. Even the File -> Open File does not work.

I am using Firefox in Ubuntu 18.04 and Title bar disappears randomly. Also while Title bar is missing Firefox window never comes to top if under another window. Customize > Title Bar Checkbox == ON.

I was trying to use F11 with no success.

Workarounds that works:

   - Grab one of tabs and move outside of existing window (title bar restored), then other tabs moved to such window are OK.
   - Go to Customize > Title Bar checkbox (is ON) / deactivate and activate again. After "checkbox restart" Title Bar is restored back.

All SW is up to date. Any clue? Any hints please?

Thanks!

Dear Mozilla Supporters,

I tried many different Firefox config combinations with force_acceleration, as well as X11 with UXA, without success. I tested OpenGL support in native X11 with glxinfo and glxdemo, and hardware accelleration does work.

I believe this worked in the past without issues, I have been using the same machine on older Lubuntu and recently decided to upgrade to the latest Debian eqivalent.

Any ideas why Firefox does not see and use the OpenGL accelleration available in X11?

Hey, So I have set my homepage to netflix and it until recently would always open on netflix whenever the firefox icon was clicked on the desktop. recently it stopped doing that and only shows a blank tab. The settings for homepage are still set to netflix. If I load firefox in safe mode then it does load netflix. I have deleted and purged firefox, deleted my profile folder, and removed all extensions. But it is still just showing a blank page when opening a new window. Also if I create a new launcher on the desktop and have it load firefox and any webpage it will open firefox but not the page. When I click the homebutton it takes me to netflix. I know this isn't really a major issue, but it's pretty annoying. Thanks for your help, Jim

Hi folks,

I have endured the sync problem for months. Today I struggled for solving it.

I have a Firefox 68.0.1 esr manual installation on Ubuntu 16.04. The sync worked when I signed in the first time. But the bookmark can not longer be updated afterwards.

If I add or delete a bookmark on my Firefox 68.0.1 esr on Windows 10, the change will not be updated to the Linux version. And vice versa.

On the Linux, I tried to disconnect my account (in the preference about:preferences?entrypoint=fxa_app_menu#sync ). I click "Disconnect" and "Just Disconnect" in the prompt, but the account is still logged in.

Another way I tried is to have a fresh new installation of Firefox 68.9 esr. Then I was asked to sign in again. After typing the password, the new bookmarks were updated. But If I make further changes on the other devices, these changes will not be sync to Linux. And I can't disconnect the account on Linux.

It looks like a new install, which resetting the login process can temporarily solve the problem.

Here is the content of the sync-log file. Can you see what is broken? Thanks in advance.

I'm practicing my Javascript with a very simple static HTML page.

I have a sticky footer on top set with CSS. I attached click events to the page's menu anchor tags to jump to the section in the page. Since the header is fixed, the jumped-to section will be covered by the fixed header's height. Therefore I have something like this in my JS script.

     elemTarget.scrollIntoView(true);
     window.scrollBy(0, -parseInt(fixedHeaderHeight.slice(0, 2)));

I have run this in the debugger and everything works in my script. The page gets scrolled back to header's height. However, when I keep on entering the scripts built-in Firefox I stumble upon a function that register's a click event in `content_script.js`.

this one:

window.addEventListener("click", function(e){

 if ( document.body.classList.contains("js-fbc-prompt-active") ) {
   const activePrompt = findActivePrompt();
   const activePromptTarget = document.querySelector(".fbc-has-badge.js-fbc-prompt-active");
   if ( !activePrompt.contains(e.target) && !activePromptTarget.contains(e.target) ) {
     closePrompt();
   }
 } else {
   contentScriptInit(true);
 }

});

after returning from the function above, window.scrollBy() gets undone, meaning that my section's title gets covered by my fixed header.

Why is this happening? Shouldn't this script NOT intervene with anything that happens in my own script?

Hello, I am a Firefox user for a long time (before 1.0). I was seeing how the user base is going down lately. I wondered why. Now, I start to understand.

I've been using Linux for more than 20 years. Several flavors. Now, I use Sabayon and KDE Neon. I understand it's not a big user base for Linux in the world, for desktop.

Still, in the last years, I have had a BIG problem using Firefox under Linux, regardless the theme I chose, the Linux distribution, or its base distribution. The radio and the check boxes. Can't see any if the site does not have some override of the common controls. Can't filter when shopping, can't set addresses, can't pay.

I've found many people complaining about. The solutions provided were to try finding some theme or hack the site pages by inspecting elements and changing styles there.

Are you serious? Do you think the Linux users are all IT web specialists? How do you expect people adopt Firefox back? Even my son simply switched to Chrome due to this. Because it's practical.

I have tried so many things, none worked so far.

You blew your knee by changing the plugins API, that disturbed everybody's productivity, but people were patient, waited many years to have their stuff back, still not there yet. But missing such basic feature as common controls makes it unusable.

You must do something, as Google does, as Microsoft does, even Opera.

Using Firefox on Linus Mint

Before the latest "upgrade" there were two options relating to tabs "Close Tabs To The Right" and "Close Other Tabs" Now there is an options marked "Close Multiples Tables" which means I have to make an extra, painful and unneccesary click before being able to close tabs.

Is there a way to return it to how it should be?

Firefox 77.0.1 (64-bit) for Ubuntu

When I click on the chat icon in the old Reddit, it doesn't load. It loads fine on the Redesign. It works fine on both old Reddit and Redesign on Chrome, and another Reddit user has confirmed the same experience.

I see this version was updated on June 3, 2020, and while I don't use chat very often, I know it has been only recently unresponsive. Problem is, I use old Reddit almost exclusively when I'm actually using Reddit because I prefer the way it runs.

Hello, I was wondering is it possible to get Reader Mode on PC to fill the whole screen space instead of the stripe in the middle? Its quite useful for getting only the relevant text out of a web page and yet it feels the amount of screen space that's actually useful is becoming less and less lately. (I'm hoping for a solution that doesn't include any scripts, but if they're necessary I'd welcome any solution really)
