I have an AJAX web application which is very sensitive to the number of connections allowed by the browser. Bad things happen when the limit is set up low: frozen screens, uncommitted transactions, deadlocks etc.

In order to prevent this I need to check the current value of configuration parameter "network.http.max-connections-per-server" programmatically (i.e. by the javascript code) and reject a request if the limit is too low with appropriate instructions to the user.

I guess it's possible because "about:config" renders all parameters values and even lets user to modify them. However the code behind the page is very complicated so I can't figure out how to perform my task. All I need is a function or method returning the current value of a given config parameter.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

All I want to see are the "typed urls" in the address dropdown list. That's the way it was for years. Now, you get icons and website names/info with the url. It takes up too much real-estate on the screen and makes it necessary to scroll the dropdown list. This is a feature I don't need. Is there maybe something in about:config that I'm missing?

I've been trying to connect to a FTP server using WinSCP, but the server just won't allow it, despite me having the right login informations and all.

I tryed it on Firefox, and I could connect and see the files just fine. The problem is, Firefox doesn't do uploads and file edits.

My guess is that the problem comes from me selecting the wrong port to connect with on WinSCP.

To test my theory, I wanted to check which port Firefox was using to connect to the server. But I searched in every menu option (I think) but didn't find the info I wanted.

Any ideas on how to find it ?

Internet Explorer gives the following options for opening a new tab: "When a new tab is opened, open: - A Blank Page - The New Tab Page -Your first home page"

On Firefox 3.6.10 the only option is the new tab page. If you click "close" a blank page appears. There is no option for a new tab opening your home page.

In addition, you cannot right click the home button to "open in a new tab".

Is there a shortcut for this, and if not, can firefox include this option in it's next version?

When I go to my Page Setup dialog box, in Margins tabs, I see that I can specify the margins in inches. However, in my friends PCs, I have seen Page Setup dialog boxes that use millimeters for handling margins.

How can I make my version of Firefox to use millimeters instead of inches? Using this obscure unit is inconvenient for me. I prefer to use the internationally-accepted metric unit.

I think I saw this addressed in the forum under another question about sessions, but wasn't particularly excited with the add-on solutions.

Simply put: I have 2 FF windows open, each with multiple tabs. When I close the first window, it just warns me about closing multiple tabs. When I close the 2nd (last) window, it asks me if I want to Save all Tabs and exit.

Problem is, I want to Save all Tabs for BOTH FF windows. I see no way to do this, and am curious as to why this isn't an option in FF (at least that I can find). Any pointers anyone? Thanks. (I guess I could start Task Manager anytime I wanted to close all my open FF windows, close (crash) the FF process, and then get the chance to open all windows up when it starts up again!) :P
