We have various date selection widgets on our website, using a calendar picker format. But when the date is actually displayed as a date, Firefox (Mac) always shows it in US format rather than UK format. My other browsers - Safari and Chrome - correctly show the UK format. My Mac OS uses the UK format.

Our developers say the HTML5 date pickers in Firefox and Chrome follow the computer's locale settings, and that it's not possible for them to specify a format in the code.

If that's the case, why does Chrome correctly show the UK format but Firefox doesn't?

I've checked the locale info in Firefox - here's what it shows:

Internationalisation & Localisation Application Settings Requested Locales ["en-GB","en-US"] Available Locales ["en-GB","en-US"] App Locales ["en-GB","en-US"] Regional Preferences ["en"] Default Locale "en-GB" Operating System System Locales ["en"] Regional Preferences ["en"]

If I can't fix this I'll have to stop using Firefox as my default browser because the date format causes too much confusion. It's heavily used for admin functions on our website, and I need to know at a glance that 01/10/2019 is 1 Oct rather than 10 Jan

I've recently switched back to Firefox from Chrome. I'm currently running version 62.0.2 on MacOS (High Sierra 10.13.4). I mostly imported bookmarks from my old Chrome session, and I didn't have an Firefox Sync account so I created one.

I've been experiencing issues with certain websites such as Facebook, or Paypal. When I try to go on these websites, they won't load very quickly compared to others, and they end up breaking Firefox completely. By that I mean that other tabs seems to act as if there was no internet anymore. An example would be Spotify, who simply stops playing music as soon as I go on these websites, or Gmail that claims there's no connection to the internet. Opening new websites (that usually load without any issue) doesn't work anymore, I get a permanent "Waiting for <website.something.tld> in the lower left corner".

This was after a fresh installation of Firefox. I've also experimented these issues, with exactly the same websites, on my other computer which runs Firefox 64 (I think?), on a Windows 7 box. I've tried pretty much everything in the help section listing fixes for websites that load slowly, etc. including resetting Firefox completely, but the issue doesn't go away.

These websites still load fine in Chrome.

I would like to know if there are other steps I could follow in order to solve that problem.

Thanks!

I am on the latest Firefox (62.0.2) and macOS Mojave. Whenever I open the Firefox print or save menu, or any similar menu, and try to interact with a textbox, the entire browser becomes unresponsive and I have no choice but to force quit. I have used Firefox before but not very recently so I do not know if this is a recent issue or if it has always existed. I do not have any add-ons or themes installed. I tried Firefox 61and the issue still exists. I'm now thinking it could be an issue with my computer. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you.

I noticed few weeks ago that all my bookmarks have disappeared. Opened Bookmark Manager and except for a few generic bookmarks and folders, it was empty. I did not have time to immediately handle it, contemplated just moving to Chrome instead ... Today, I opened my profile directory and located bookmarkbackups. It contained few tiny recent files and an a bit older file which had more reasonable size. I then followed this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-bookmarks-from-backup-or-move-them to restore from that file. I used Restore, located the backup and confirmed OK when Firefox asked if to overwrite (duh!). Nothing happened. I closed and reopened Firefox, and tried one more time. Nothing. I then used this site to process my bookmarks: https://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/bookbackreader.html When checking for errors it said the 'Other bookmarks' is misplaced. If I fixed and reimported the json bookmarks, I got again mostly nothing, except maybe 2 bookmarks. I decided to export as HTML instead. The HTML look to contain the bookmarks, but I started to suspect that Firefox has changed bookmark folders/ordering in some way, until one day it stopped supporting the order in my bookmarks, so instead of fixing it, it just wiped it all clean. Indeed, when I imported the bookmarks HTML I did get bookmarks but in messed-up folders, many unnamed. The HTML did not look like that.

In any case, it seems I have now to edit the HTML to look similar to what Firefox would expect, or to edit the json file, which seems even harder, or import the HTML and cleanup the mess. A lot of work either way.

I am not happy with this at all. This, along with losing some of my favorite extensions, which stopped working on Firefox, is good enough reason for me to stop using it. At work, I have to use Chrome so it is not a hard switch for me.

Let me clarify that other than normal upgrades, I did not mess with the installation. I am pretty sure it was all Firefox doing when my bookmarks were just all gone one day. Unacceptable.

There have been many, many reports of Firefox (post Quantum) crashing when the Windows File Browser dialog is summoned. I've attempted a number of "solutions" proffered, none effective. Fact of the mater is, Firefox worked and then you went and broke it. I'm sure you suspect how you managed to break it. I've been a loyal user for over a decade now- but that is coming to an end with this debacle. Every time I'm required to interact with local files, I open up another browser to address the need. I begin to wonder why not just use the functional tool and say goodby to the Fox?

It was a good run, Firefox- I'll miss you.

A browser is a tool, not my mommy. On the Firefox startup page, I am told by my web browser of choice to "go take a break" (eat something healthy like an apple), I'm told how to protest political issues... reminded to register to vote and also reminded that mostly old people voted in the last election.

I don't want to see these political messages, or ANY life advice from my favorite web browser ever again. Just like I don't need my couch or my microwave to tell me what job to apply for.

How do I get rid of these ridiculous, obnoxious, over-reaching nanny state messages on the start page?
