Hi, I am using Firefox browser (version 83.0) on my Mac running macOS Catalina 10.15.7. Both my browser and my OS are up to date. Recently I am noticing that some websites are not rendering correctly and the characters are all jumbled. I went through similar issues and tried the below but the issue is still happening. Can someone please point me in the right direction?

  • Deleted history and cache
  • Removed all extensions
  • Uninstalled Firefox
  • Deleted all profile data saved by Firefox from the system
  • Downloaded and reinstalled latest version of Firefox
  • Changed the browser preferences of network.http.accept-encoding.secure and network.http.accept-encoding to 'gzip, deflate' (without apostrophe)
  • Opened in Safe mode

Hiya!

My Firefox has this weird problem where the autocomplete for website adresses / URLs only works for certain URLs. For example, if I enter "python" it will autocomplete to "python.org/" but when I enter "paypal" it will not complete to "paypal.com" although I have visited that site many times and the address even shows up below the address bar.

I've already tried to go to "about:config" and set "Browser.urlbar.default.behavior" to "33" like I read on another topic here in this forum but it didn't work (it is already set to "true").

Does anyone know what to do to remedy this? Thanks in advance!

I am signed in to Firefox. Yet every time I open another tab or anything related to the page a popup asking me to sign in displays (see image). When I try to sign out in the account it pops up. Yet it will not accept my password. I have changed the password and it will not accept the change. I have tried to delete the checked box for the "Primary Password" but, it will not allow when that box pops up and again will not accept my password. I have tried to delete and reinstall but of course it say I have already had a installation and pulls up previous data. I have tried to refresh, no better luck. Do I need to completely delete including the registry and reinstall. It is irritating and frustrating. Windows 10, current Firefox,Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz 2.40 GHz, 64 bit

Hi everyone, recently on upon using my iPhone and browsing the web using Firefox, I cannot open any hyperlinks that are linked to external apps from Firefox. I am not sure if I have accidentally enabled safe mode or something like that. Would really appreciate any help in trying to rectify this issue. This problem seems to be you unique to my iPhone only and does not happen to my MacBook Air laptop

How can I fix the text file icons in the website when I unchecked the "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of your selections above" box? The entire website was made of text file icons like, for example, the speaker icon was named "volume_up" and the swap languages (reversible arrows cycle) icon is weirdly named "swap_horiz". It wasn't like that back in 2019 when I first brought my computer and before the last major update to the browser. So, I'm wondering, what happened in between the major updates (2019 to 2020) that cause this issue?

Apparently it is possible to write a web page such that it pops up the printer dialogue on load. That is, something in the page automatically launches the print dialogue. Usually that is wanted/expected behavior. For example, you just clicked on a "Print" button on the page. In my case, there is one page I use a lot that tries to auto-print a PDF. But I have PDF's set to open outside of FireFox. So the PDF loads in Acrobat (expected behavior), and FireFox tries to print the HTML page that is open in FireFox. Also presumably expected behavior, but not wanted if it is the PDF I want to print. This has gotten annoying, and so I'm looking for a control that suppresses printing. Ten minutes of googleing and all I can find are articles for the control to suppress the dialogue for printing, and instead print directly to the default printer, ie silent printing. I don't want to suppress the dialog. I want to auto-cancel the print job. That is, I want to disallow a web page from invoking the print dialog at all, by overriding the print instruction. Such as setting could either be set for a specific page, set or globally; either would work for me. Is there a control for that?

I just went in a day or so ago and deleted all other suggested search engines besides Firefox and/or Duckduckgo and just now when I came in to search for something the menu dropped down and all the stupid search engines were showing up again therein, so I had to go in and re-delete them! This is extremely annoying and clearly invasive on their part!!! I didn't think to do a screen shot of it before I deleted them but this is the page I am talking about!.

When I upgraded to Firefox 83, I discovered that the screenshot function, which previously appeared with a simple right click, had disappeared. I did some reading, and have tried the 'page actions' drop-down' menu, and the 'about:config' modification, but neither, frankly, did a thing. So, what gives? And why me? instead of, say, you? And, oh yeah, a solution would be cool, too...

The add-on in question is FlowCrypt (flowcrypt.com). We need to have a stable, predictable origin to enable in CORS, but the add-on ID changes upon every install. Is there a way for an add-on to have a stable ID/origin? How is this accomplished?

We are using the addons.mozilla.com self-publish mechanism, where I'm having Mozilla sign each release, but then we are self-hosting a json file at https://flowcrypt.com/api/update/firefox the individual xpi fles.

Hello, I've had the problem for a while now, and finally decided to do something about it. When I am visiting certain websites the fonts for the headlines are all messed up. I attached two images of the official website of berlin, one opened with firefox, one opened with safari. You can see that the font problem is primarily applying to headlines. Since this doesn't happen on every website, I was thinking this could be due to firefox not being able to handle one certain font. You will also notice, that firefox doesn't display german letters such as ä, ö and ü.

I have already tried playing around with the performance settings, and my language is set to german. I am thankful for every new idea.

Cheers

Using Firefox 83.0 on Windows 7 and Windows 10, no plugins or extensions installed.

  • I open a HTML page on server https://secure...
  • The page successfully loads lots of scripts and other resources from server https://deimos...
  • When using an XHR request to access an ODATA resource on https://deimos... the request is marked as "blocked" in DevTools, see screenshot
  • When hovering the "blocked" icon in the console, "blocked by DevTools" is displayed
  • The page works fine in Chromium based browsers (tested Edge, Chrome, Firefox)
  • The page works fine if it is hosted on https://deimos... instead of https://secure... (that's why I assume that it is some Cross-Origin issue)
  • The server provides Access-Control-* headers, see screenshot. The headers provided for the blocked XHR request are the same if I check them in the chromium based browsers.
  • There is no sign (like a pre-flight OPTIONS request) of the blocked request in the web server logs
  • Only requestr which use credentials are blocked. Other XHR-requests without credentials (like the one following the blocked request on the screenshot) seem to succeed.

I played around with the "Content-Security-Policy" meta tag in the document, with no success. For requests blocked by this policy, DevTools explicitly displayed the Content Security Policy as the reason for blocking the request.

I found lots of posts on the net concerning the Access-Control-Allow-Credentials header, also I found that for requests with credentials the Access-Control-Allow-Origin header must not return "*". IMHO those are correctly provided by my server.

Any idea of what is going wrong here? I can provide the link to access the page in a personal mail...

Kind regards Ted

Hi... I'm not a computer expert by any definition. I know my way around some apps and try to follow computer and internet best practices. I've used Firefox for a couple of years and have been satisfied with it... However lately I've been thinking about how I can ensure that when I communicate on the internet nothing is left on my computer, either where I've been or who / what type of communication has taken place. I perform several financial transactions daily with institutions local and out of country. I know of a very recent issue one person I know had on their PC, They lent it for use to someone they know and they were able find history of communications and email addresses etc. It was a very difficult situation for that person when their email was hacked and websites tracked from a person / persons unknown. I've turned on the Firefox option of deleting all history and cookies and have done that in Windows internet options (at least as far as I can determine). Based on what I've done, is there anywhere on my PC where internet communication is stored that I can remove when I've finished using the internet? My internet provider is Bell.

many thanks BEH

Hi, first of all we are happy with Firefox,my question is about: I turned almost all search enigines of but still all startup in the back, how do I know, how do I see this? When is use my CCleaner and look at start ups/Brouwser plug-ins under the Mozilla Firefox topic I see all on (Wikipedia, Bol.com, DuckDuckGo, Ebay, Marktplaats and more) and everytime I click them off they apear nexttime . just want to start with less as possible and never use to sites, at "Search" in options at the Firefox brouwser I deleted all search engines exept Google. Closed them severaltimes by Ccleaner but keeps coming back. So the question is how do i get those extensions off for real so i don't see them working at CCleaner.

Thnx in advance and have a Merry Hoho all and best wishes for the New year.

I administer three Wordpress sites, all of which updated to Wordpress 5.6 two days ago. Since then, I have experienced problems when viewing and editing these sites in Firefox.

The viewing problem is that reCAPTCHA does not work in Firefox - it appears to time out, which prevents a form from being submitted. This problem does not occur when I view the same sites in Chrome and Edge.

The editing problem is that the edit toolbar does not remain fixed in place at the top of the edit window when I scroll down a page but rather scrolls out of sight, which makes it very difficult to apply formatting to the text. Again, this problem does not occur when I edit in Chrome or Edge.
