I see this is a known bug but this bookmark sidebar has suddenly started to appear on my desktop when ever I open Firefox and there seems to be no understandable method to turn it off although there are several arcane techniques that require me to go to weird places and change the names of files. No indication of what the unintended consequences of that might be. Is this something you can fix? Will the next update. This is really frustrating. Help please. So to be sure, I do not consider the challenge of getting into the pants of a program to fix a bug to be fun, exciting, interesting, etc. This is a tool and my browser is acting up. That is a pain in the butt not an adventure.

I've just reinstalled Windows and Firefox browser so how can I get back my Synchronized bookmarks??Are they all lost?Because I sing in and trying ot synch but nothing changes.Thank you.

I have a new computer with windows 11 and eset. eset used to open my browser to specif bookmarks for my banks and brokerage accounts. but not now. what is wrong. 127.0.2 and eset 17.2.7.0

I can't recover my bookmarks. I've used both available sites and it still isn't working. "Unable to process the backup file." And when I try to recover the HTML using the converter, it says; "JSON.parse: unexpected end of data at line 1 column 1 of the JSON data".

Hi, firstly, I am not very technical so I will describe my issue as simply as I can. When I open my Application Menu (3 horizontal bars on the top right hand side of my screen, underneath the X) and click on the Bookmarks heading, there is a heading showing as Recent Bookmarks. This then lists bookmarks that I have used. As I do not want this list. How do I stop/get rid of this "Recent Bookmarks" heading &/or list. Thank you to anyone who can help (without a lot of jargon/computer speak).

I would like to create bookmark folders WITHIN a bookmark folder. Example: I search the American South, so I have a SOUTH bookmark. But within that bookmark, I would like to have a subfolder for each state. Please help!

I'm using FF v. 127.02 and would like to delete recent bookmarks that show up under bookmarks/search. I would like to disable this feature.

It seems to be a very bad idea for privacy oriented browsers like FF. to store such info. Anyone including the kids can use my computer and see my search history. Several folks have tried various fixes without success.

I imported my bookmarks through an html backup but I dont see them on the bookmarks bar and when I sync my chrome browser data everything is all screwed up How can I import my chrome data minus bookmarks

I was having a problem recently with blue screens of death so I had to factory reset my PC - but not before backing up my personal files to an external hard drive.

Upon re-downloading Firefox, my saved passwords have pulled through with my profile (thankfully) but my bookmarks have not.

Am I missing something or should they have pulled through too?

I've tried the obvious like "Manage Bookmarks -> Import & Backup" and also looking for the file manually in AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\q6xxdvnd.default-release\bookmarkbackups

If anyone is able to help, it would be much appreciated

Hi! I was prompted earlier today to update Windows 10 on my laptop, and now adding tags to Bookmarks isn't working correctly.

If I try to add tags to a bookmark, normally - I start typing the tag and if I already have tags starting with those letters a list would usually show of my existing tags that start with those letters - and I can choose which tag I want to use.

Since the update, what I get is a list of what tags are already on the tag-line for my bookmark! This is terrible.

I have a huge library of Bookmarks - most of which are extremely well-tagged.

When I start typing a tag name, I need the interface to act like it did previously - and show me what tags I have that start with those same letters.

My Firefox browser is on auto-update so it's up-to-date.

I hope this gets fixed very shortly because I really hate it! And I'm constantly adding new bookmarks and editing my old ones - so this is such an annoyance.

I hope my description is good enough because I can't get a screen-shot (as soon as I try to activate the screen-shot thing, clicking to do that makes my Edit Bookmark window disappear).

I do hope this gets sorted out soon! BTW, I'm usually very happy with the Bookmarks system :) ~Liz

How do I get my bookmarks working? I have hundreds of them over the years and now cannot access any of them. I don't know what sync or .squigle is. Please help.

Hi, i formatted my pc and upgraded to windows 11 but before that i synced all my bookmarks of previous firefox to my account but after i downloaded firefox on windows 11 and signed in with my account the bookmarks doesn't import automatically but it is asking me to import from other browsers like chrome on which i have different bookmarks and i want my firefox bookmarks back why is it not seemless like google chrome.

I think it would be nice sync-ing bookmarks would include favicons too.

When I bookmark a site from my work computer, the favicon would not appear in the bookmark of my home computer.

When I reinstall Firefox the bookmarks are restored, but not the favicons.

So, it would be nice to sync favicons too. Makes bookmark more aesthetically pleasing.

Ctrl+Shift+D does not bring up bookmark dialog [no response]. Only way to "save all tabs" now is to press alt+B, then move mouse pointer to dropdown menu and select the "save all tabs" menu item with the mouse poiter [only]. This kind of defeats the "keyboard shortcut" approach to ease of use. Previous behavior was by pressing Ctrl+Shift+D would bring up a save bookmarks dialog, and I'm done. I use a lot of "save all tabs". This is only become an issue since apparently installing Firefox v115.12.0esr version 2 days ago, which I didn't hardly remember happening. Although I am running Win8.1, but as stated this was not issue before the newer version Firefox installed. This does not appear to be a Win8.1 incompatibility issue. I have intended to upgrade to Win10, but have other more pressing events recently [accidents, hospitals, etc, etc,etc.] My keyboard tests OK. The Ctrl+Shift+D combination registers as an OK keyboard combination. [?] I've run FF with extensions disabled - same results. [?] Thanks.
