I seem to be encountering various problems since the update to 73, the main one is the profile folder, I dislike the default location so have previously just put my preferred location in appdata\roaming\mozila\profiles.ini but 73 regularly ignores this and puts a basic profile in the default location and alters profile.ini. Using the profile manager does not get any better results. I am also having problems with the home page, I have set a custom page but 73 often resets this to a blank page or sometimes the default home page. I have had to resort to a 'portable' version as 73 constantly resetting things was getting so annoying but the portable does not work well as a default browser.

Hi,

Using Firefox version 83.0 on MacBook Pro 2019 16 inch model. When I pause a video on any webpage, I hear a sudden loud "crack" sound from the speakers. It also happens when I unpause, jump backward or forward in the video. If I mute the sound of the video and try to pause/unpause, there is no problem.

I checked the same situation with other browsers. There are no problems with them.

I hope there is a solution to this.

Thanks.

I'm currently on firefox developer edition with the system theme. I've just now upgraded to latest version (v. 89.0b3 64 bit).

Everything is fine except the tab title of the current tab. The color is right but the shape is wrong. It should be rectangular but instead all four corners are rounded. Moreover, it's not connected to the rest of the page so there is a gap between the background color of the current tab (grey) and the background color of the page (black) making the whole thing look like it's floating around the browser space (see attached screenshot).

I've also noted that the top bar, the ones containing the title tabs and the main icons (close, enlarge, minimize) has become huge!

So my questions are:

- Is there a way to have rectangular tab titles again? If not possible through options, is there an add-on I can use? I search the add-ons page but the themes I found are for changing colors, they do nothing for the shape of the tabs. - How can I shrink the top bar?

Thanks

Hi! So I'm using a tool called Ice that creates special profiles for web apps (like Twitter or WhatsApp) to have them run in special browsers resembling Firefox' former site-specific browser feature.

Now when I click links in those web-apps running in special Firefox profiles, I would like to still open links in my default profile / default browser.

There is an about:config option named "browser.link.open_newwindow" which supports the following values:

  • 1: Open links, that would normally open in a new window, in the current tab/window.
  • 2: Open links, that would normally open in a new window, in a new window.
  • 3: Open links, that would normally open in a new window, in a new tab in the current window.

Ideally, there would be an option to open those links using the system's default (like using xdg-open on Linux), which would open the link using my default browser / Firefox' default profile.

Is there some config item that I'm missing - or an add-on for Firefox that does just that (letting the system handle opening the link)? Does anyone have another idea?

Thanks for your help!

Is the above popup legit? I ask because, MSFT has for about 26 years refused to fix the mailto: problem, meaning any mailto: link address had to be written down, and then typed out in whatever e-mail application the user had. One could not even copy and paste it.

This happened despite the fact that even under MSDOS 6.22 such links were easily automated and functional. Since it is unbelievable that Microsoft suddenly sees the light (any light), I am asking whether this is some kind of a scam.

Secondly, if it is legit, does this application link to a) The big complicated Outlook, or b) the Outlook.com you can reach via the www.msn.com page, or c) the Outlook Mail App one can find both on Windows 10 desktops or on any "dumb" smart phone?

Third, does this App destroy anything?

Fourth, can this App be removed without destroying anything?

Does anyone know anything about this?

If nobody knows, forward this to Satjan Nutella. Thank You!

I just reinstalled Firefox. It is up to date and is my default browser. It won't play movies on Netflix or Amazon. I get a thin yellow strip at the top of the movie window saying that WidevineCdm crashed. This happens every time I try to play a Netflix movie.

Before throwing my old Firefox off the computer and reinstalling the same version (78.10), Everything worked fine. but the old Firefox had some issues. It would crash sometimes and there were some security issues. Since reinstallation it doesn't crash but now it won't play Netflix or Amazon movies.
I went to Firefox listing of crash reports. Below is a copy of one of them:

Meanwhile, we know that Mozilla doesn't give a damn about anyone else's privacy either. This is partly due to continuous data sharing with Google and so on. Also the fact that Mozilla has no contact possibilities, they prefer not to get feedback apparently, shows that they don't care about the customer.

But now it gets even worse, the Nightly version now starts up automatically (without actually opening) with Windows. And immediately wants to share data with third party servers, I can see from the notification of my firewall. How can I turn this off?

And the new layout, with all its unnecessary extra space, doesn't look good at all. Yet another failure of Mozilla. It is that there is no better browser, but otherwise...
