Hi all, In my notebook i use xubuntu 18,04 os with firefox browser pre- installed. As form April 2024 when ubuntu standard support ended i use an ubuntu pro security subscription. Then, some time ago i saw the browser was not updated for over one year remaining at the 113.02 version. So according to ESM instructions i had to go with snap firefox, which i downloaded. I have the following questions for solving some issues: 1. Now i have 2 firefox browsers, one from regular ubuntu deb repositories and the other with snap.I have now to uninstall the old outdated version without causing any problems to the system or loose bookmarks. I will do that via software updater program, via terminal, or is there a recommended procedure ? 2'. Using the snap firefox browser as a default browser, i noticed some kind of malfunctions. p. ex a) trying to attach a file from the computer to an email the browser doesn’ t respond to open file selection. when i press "attach". With the old version this works fine. b) When i tried to export an html bookmarks file for backup, again the browser didn’t respond. This also works fine on the old version. Settings are fine and saved automatically from the previous version Any recommendation will be much helpful.

If uploading a .gpx file (list of GPS track points - in XML format), FF will open a tab then another etc quite quickly. It also creates a 0 byte file in the downloads directory. This happens eg if using the Google maps to gpx converter (https://mapstogpx.com/).

If FF is closed down, on restarting it just continues - infinite loop.

The way to stop is invoke FF by clicking a saved link or from command line with a url as argument. This stops the loading of the gpx as your chosen page is loaded instead. You can then hover over the existing GPX tabs and select remove duplicate tabs.

I recently importing bookmarks from another browser accidentally. I'd like to try and restore the bookmarks along with the passwords that I previously had. How can I do this? I tried to do a restore, but only found options from three or four years ago. Is there a way that I can import the bookmarks from last November?

I am having problems with a page on my local network NAS server. In console this message appears on every page I access:

Failed to fetch moz-extension://84d877f6-188e-f449-9e14-68b144dea3de/inline/injected.js, Import failed 3 times. Final error: crypto.randomUUID is not a function

          inject-content-scripts.js:5:897

To check if it was my code I tried this simple html page (apparently the page has to be inspected so that the code appears):

Dumb Page

The page loads, but in console the above message appears. Also in my developing page using Bootstrap and jquery I have MANY CSS-related errors, starting with: Error in parsing value for ‘-webkit-text-size-adjust’. Declaration dropped. Unknown pseudo-class or pseudo-element ‘-ms-expand’. Ruleset ignored due to bad selector. Error in parsing value for ‘box-shadow’. Declaration dropped. .....(many other similar errors) My client environment is: Macos Catalina 10.15.7 Firefox 128.5.2esr (64-bit)

Hello,

so, when I opened a site, Firefox recommended to me that I import the necessary login data from another browser... However in consequence it imported EVERYTHING from the Chrome browser. I deliberately like to keep data separate from browsers, aside from login data. My Chrome browser has way more bookmarks, in other words, my Firefox browser gets cluttered by this and kind of indistinguishable. I don't like that.

I still have an installation of Firefox on an other system that's just a few months old that should be fine. Can I determine the direction of the sync, whether it downloads or uploads data? This could solve my problem. Alternatively, may there be different save states to choose from (although this may the same question)?

I'm trying to import my passwords; what I've read says I will find Logins and Passwords in the menu represented by three bars at the top right of my foxfire sign in page. The problem is I have three dots, not three lines, and nowhere do I see Logins and Passwords, just Passwords, and there's no import data option there. Sorry if this is lame. I'm old and clueless in the world of tech. Also, thanks for any assist.

All of my notes are gone and if similar URLs are doubled.

Hello, I'm currently using a Macbook Air, Early 2014, that still works perfectly fine for my needs. But it runs with OS X 10.9.5 and Firefox 78.15.0esr, that unfortunately can no longer be updated. That wouldn't be a problem to me since I do a very limited use of the computer, but now I'm getting the message "Your Firefox may start to have problems on January 14, 2025 since updates are not available for this OS". What should I do if I still want to use this device with Firefox to browse the internet? If it is impossible to keep using Firefox, any suggestions for an alternative browser that may still work? Safari is no longer an option. Thanks a lot for any and all replies
