This is driving me a bit mad...
A while ago the spellcheck in FF just stopped working. I literally only have a single add blocker installed that I've always used. I've not made any system changes lately beyond installing a few games.
- I have the "check spelling as you type" box checked in the browser options. - I have the English language pack installed from here (The British pack installed currently) - I've opened about:congif in the browser itself and made sure the value for layout.spellcheckDefault is set to 1.
It doesn't work on any site.
Chrome is working fine, but I prefer to use FF.
- I've tried reinstalling. - I've tried unchecking and rechcking the box.
Any ideas where what I should try next?
Any help really appreciated!

I'm running Firefox 84.0.2 on Fedora 33. I have just created a couple of profiles via the profile manager, but attempting to start with a specific profile from the command line, like this:
firefox --profile default
Causes Firefox to complain:
Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible.
Even though:
[Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=8hiuv29u.default
$ ls -ld ~/.mozilla/firefox/8hiuv29u.default drwx------ 11 lars lars 4096 Jan 12 16:13 /home/lars/.mozilla/firefox/8hiuv29u.default
This is happening with multiple profiles; not just the default profile. These are all profiles that were just created.

I do not know where to post feedback and the feedback link is down so if someone can get this to the Firefox development team, it would be a great help:
1. Feedback is important and to give it a user has to search this website and come here to write it. The help should be in the drop-down menu or menu items where a user can write to development team. This is in Google Chrome. Can be implemented in Firefox. 2. I never understood why title bar and the address bar are separate. They can be merged. The mass horizontal space in title bar is unused forever. Please implement this. 3. The auto-hide/intel-hide of address-bar and title-bar option is not available to the user. Please make it available. This is available for bookmark though and it is working well. 4. If given a chance the user will not want to see the address in the address bar. Most users have utility of copying the address, not much. Can the address be hidden when user do not want to see it? 5. Modern phones have camera not on the top-left edge nowadays, but in top-center. Similarly the tab should open in the center. The minimum development team could do is to provide user with this option that he only can move it to center. Very good improvement this would be. 6. Word-wise feature of Amazon Kindle + Hard-word meaning show on mouse hover features requested. Few extensions available which are not very good in quality and these features should be default. This will save users time to search for new words, will reduce internet traffic. 7. When I save a dark theme in Nightly using customize option. It stays for few seconds and then reverts back to white theme. This could be a bug. Please investigate it. Thanks.

Whenever I add something to my "other bookmarks" folder it forces itself onto the right in my favorites tool bar. This hides my two rightmost icons (besides me just not wanting it there. There is no reason for it to be there).
I have gotten around this by creating a new folder named "other bookmarks 2" and just immediately dumping everything into it if I by mistake add something to the "other bookmarks" folder.
How do I stop it from doing this? I have read people talking about changing code in Firefox etc but 1. I couldn't find out where to do that and 2. I'm not comfortable doing so (especially when this should not be an issue in the first place).
How do I fix this please?

Hello, I use DuckDuckGo as my default search engine. Is there a way to have my DuckDuckGo search settings load automatically when Firefox opens? It is such a nuisance to manually reload my settings every time I open Firefox. Is there perhaps a way to store the DuckDuckGo settings in Firefox? Thanks for your time.

After Firefox crashed a number of times in quick succession, I got it up and working again. However, the Dashlane ad-on/extension had disappeared. When trying to re-install it, I get the message:" The ad-on could not be installed, because it did not match the ad-0n Firefox expected.(ses screenshot). I would appreciate any help I can get to solve the problem, as Dashlane is not functioning right now.

Dear Mozilla Firefox Community: My question is about disabling an AddOn vs completely uninstalling it from a privacy/permissions stand-point. When I disable an AddOn from my browser, does that prevent the collection of data/revoke the permissions required to install it? Or does the AddOn sit idle, silently collecting data in the background? Also, when uninstalling an AddOn from my browser, does that instantly revoke all collection of data first allowed, or does it still collect residual data? Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely,

Firefox 84.0.2 (64-bit) in Ubuntu 18.04
I often load pages with many tabs. These tabs are NOT refreshed when loading, so data may be days old. It's easy to think data is fresh, since Firefox just started, but WRONG !
This wastes lots of time, both in errors and manually restarting each of many tabs.
I need to find how to set Firefox to NOT use old data when it starts. I don't need to refresh every few minutes or hours,, JUST when starting.
HOW do I accomplish this ?!?
Thanks!

I would very much like to adjust the text zoom of my (updated current firefox) browser (to 170%) and the normal zoom to something around 130-150%. That would allow me to read from distance and use the whole screen. However, firefox only allows "text-only" zoom OR "whole site" zoom (in "about:preferences"). Is there an addon or an "about:config" setting where I could globally adjust text zoom and website zoom to distinct values at once (without setting "website zoom" to 100% for example, when adjusting "text-only")
I would greatly appreciate a solution! Thanks, best regards Gregor

My first language is English but I live in France where, for some reason my Google search engine defaults to dot com. This means that I see results from France (good) and bucket-loads from the rest of the world which have no relevance to where I am or what I'm looking for.
I've been through the 'add more search engines' help pages and there is no answer there that I can find. I want to set my default not as google.com (as Google says I have to because I chose the English language) but google.co.uk. So, how do I do this in Firefox please?
Thanks in advance Kevin

In my notebook I have dualboot with Windows 10 and Ubuntu 20.04, and in Ubuntu Firefox notifications are integrated with the system, but in Windows 10 the notification is a ugly white rectangle. I tried to search how to change, and one site said I have to go to to Settings>System>Notifications & Actions and scroll down to Receber notificações destes remetentes and turn on Firefox, but Firefox don't appear there, as you can see in the screenshot. I'm Brazilian, so my system is in Portuguese.

I abandoned my effort to control policies using a policies.json file, since the posted instructions do not work and the moderator who was helping me didn't have any additional suggestions. So I'm now trying to do this via the local group policy editor in Windows 10 Pro with Firefox ESR 78.6.1.
I obtained the admx/adml files for that version of Firefox and placed them in the appropriate location in Windows\Policy Definitions.
Now I get the full list of polices in Firefox about:policies#documentation. There is also a Mozilla>Firefox node in the group policy editor with many options. However, AppAutoUpdate is not among them, even though it appears in the documentation. The only thing relevant at all in the GPO editor is Mozilla>Firefox>Preferences>app.update.auto, which both the GPO and about:policies says is deprecated and not supported.
So what is the actual truth? Is there, or is there not really an AppAutoUpdate policy that we can actually use to stop the endless pestering about updates in an ESR version? If there really is one, what are the actual steps to find it and make it work?
Thanks.

I should not have to ask this, but somehow this essential feature has been removed *again*. How in the world do we view the URLs of links in Windows 10 now? The status bar has been totally disappeared, and although there are a number of add-ons, so many of them are about other kinds of status, or only show the URL in limited circumstances, that I'm having trouble figuring out which ones offer the basic view-URL-on-hover. Does anyone have recommendations?
Even better, who can explain why it's a good idea to make it hard for users to see this absolutely vital information? If security is important then it's important to make it easy for users to see where links go before clicking on them. Full stop. And even if the web were somehow magically totally safe, people don't want to waste their time and bandwidth playing guessing games. We want to know what something is before we bother to open it up. Why is that so very hard to understand?????
