Good morning:

I updated FF 91 ESR to 102 ESR and I'm not liking the Print interface. The main problem is that the printer properties are not available. The printers default is to print from tray 2, but sometimes I want to print from tray 1.

If it can be changed then I prefer code that I add to User.js "user_pref("print.tab_modal.enabled", false); " is being ignored.

thanks Norbert

I'm testing FF102 for rollout in September and working through various issues. The latest one I've come across is the edit bookmark "button" on the right of the URL bar. It's a blank space on the URL bar, and when hovered over is a highlighted blank space. After clicking it twice it displays the Edit book mark menu.

How can I remove it completely? I've look at about:config and nothing stands out as obvious to me controlling this and I can't find a setting for it.

The image below shows the highlighted blank icon space.

This code in userChrome.css worked in FF91 but only hides the icon in FF102.

#star-button { display:none !important; }

Thanks

I have this problem. It just showed up after installing a brand new ARRIS modem exactly like the one I had. "Your connection is not secure" error when trying to log in to my modem's login page at the local address. There are several fixes that I saw, none seem to help. Tried the SSL refresh and it screwed up the browser. Now I get to figure out how I had it set up before the "refresh". Like I said this just started in Firefox and it prevents me from accessing the modem console period. If I use Edge it does not block me. (yuk) It does show a "Not Secure" message in the address bar but it will allow me to access my Modem. Why cant we get a fix for this. Its a local web address not on the internet. Should be a way to add to a allow local address list and ignore certificates or whatever else is causing it to block access.....

Email me when someone answers the thread seems to be broken on this page. I would like a email please so I can find a response.

Thanks! Roger

I've downloaded a couple of add-ons this week that did not do what they claim to do, so I wanted to leave reviews so other users won't waste their time. Except when i got to do so, i am surprised to see that therte is no clear way to write a review for an add-on. I am logged into the add-ons page, i can view the previous reviews for the add-on, but nowhere does it inticate how I can leave a review. Google led me to the Mozilla add-ons wiki which states "You can complete most of the review using the reviewer tools at addons.mozilla.org" except there is no indication to where one can locate these "reviewer tools." Seems a bit funny to me that Mozilla would choose to hide the functionality and make it so difficult to use.

Any help is appreciated.

Currently @ Ver. 102.0.1 Problem remains. Since the update to 102.0 my Win10 PC has problems with the page update. When the scroll slider gets near the bottom the page, new images begin to load. This reload results in 3-15+ newly loaded Fb posts scrolling past so fast as to be invisible. I have to keep my cursor on the scroll slider and, when the loading begins, start scrolling up if I want to have any chance to easily find the last post I was reading. I have seen this behavior, grossly exaggerated, when I was viewing a video. The reload caused the viewing to pause and upwards of 15 newly loaded posts scrolled past in this rapid manner. My work requires that I am able to view pages of Facebook posts and this is now massively time-consuming and intolerable. I may have to change browsers in spite of my reluctance to do so.

After doing an update to Firefox (currently on 102.0.1), the settings for what happens when I click on a PDF file always seems to reset to 'save file', when what I want (and what I have to keep changing back to) is 'Always ask'.

Is this a known issue or is it something about my environment that causes this?

My system is running Windows 11 on an HP laptop with an AMD 7-5800U CPU and 8Gb of memory. [I'm posting this on my desktop machine which doesn't seem to exhibit the same behaviour - Windows 10 on an Intel 8500 CPU and 16Gb of memory]

thanks for any advice.

Hi everyone,

a long time ago, Firefox on GNU/Linux didn't have this default behaviour I've described in the title of my question (but FF on Windows had this behaviour at the time, so I believe it was decided to unify the behaviour on all platforms).

The thing is: I truly dislike having the existing text selected automatically. When I click a precise location in the URL or Search field (where some text already exists), I expect the text cursor to locate at this exact spot, NOT the existing text to be entirely selected! With this "new" default behaviour, it now requires 2 clicks to achieve the same task (not what I'd call an improvement) and makes it really PAINFUL to construct a list of search terms (one by one) by copying/pasting them from the current web page (funnily, it proves to be less painful when copying text from another application, since the automatic selection of previously pasted search terms does NOT happen when pasting an additional term -> this is exactly the behaviour I'm expecting).

Historically, whenever I was willing to have the existing text SELECTED (I agree this can be useful from time to time), I used keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+L or Ctrl+K to move the text cursor to the URL or Search field (respectively).

All in all, the historical behaviour of FF on GNU/Linux was just fine (at least to me).

So my QUESTION today is: how to get this historical behaviour back? How to prevent the existing text from being selected when I just CLICK in the URL or Search field?

I've not been able to find a hidden option to configure this behaviour since FF on Linux changed the rule. So I'm afraid it doesn't exist... But if so, would it be possible to add such an option?

Thank you :)

Can I disable this behavior via about config or any other way? Now top plate consume much more space of screen (I use "Make text bigger" equals to 144%), very disappointed.

Some, but not all, videos on Twitter and tumblr don't function. On tumblr, the audio usually plays but the video is blank. On Twitter, the videos are always stuck loading. Thumbnails always load, there is no way for me to know if a video will work or not without trying to play it.

They work when I use a different browser, and Youtube is fully functional, so it can't be an issue with my laptop. The other person in the house who uses Firefox is able to play the same videos without issue.

I've searched for solutions and exhausted the possibilities in dozens of articles and support sites saying the same things over and over again. I'm at my wit's end.

I've tried: -disabling hardware acceleration -audio and video permissions -clearing cache and cookies -disabling enhanced tracking protection -switching off adblocker -running it in troubleshooting mode -refreshing Firefox

None of these did anything. Can anybody give me even a scrap of an idea as to what I can do?

Both Youtube, gfy, reddit, or playing any mp4 in browser becomes erratic, sometimes it wants to work, sometimes it doesn't. Simple as explained.

Twice I did a w10 system restore back to v.102 and playback is normal. Twice i update to 103, and playback becomes botched. sometimes videos work, sometimes they don't, no loading, then sometimes background loading for minutes but no play, very random, very erratic.

So now i have 103 update blocked to avoid this problem.

Hi,

I am testing v102esr of Firefox for a rollout in September.

One of this issues I have come across is the extremely high number of processes started when opening Firefox.

We have our own website run via Windows Server using IIS. The home page has no remote content - it's all local so I don't believe any remote content is being opened. There is only one tab open.

For each new tab I open I get at least one additional process. So with 10 tabs opened I ended up with 24 processes.

In FF91esr this was 3-5 processes. I also noticed under performance settings I can no longer specify the number of processes.

Is there any way to reduce this number to something more sane, like 3-5?

Also, why is there a Console Window Host running under Firefox?

Is the Node.js also new? I don't recall seeing it before

thanks

This happens Every.Single.Time I download photos and scanned docs from email. Again, this has never happened before - only with the recent Firefox update. I have 2021 a MacBook Pro.

Hi,

I'm trying to access locally-installed help files that are in /usr/share. When I try accessing anything starting with "file:///usr" in Firefox, I get "Access to the file was denied".

I've already set "security.fileuri.strict_origin_policy = false", which now let me access "file:///tmp", "file:///media" and "file:///home", but anything under "file:///usr" (and serveral other top-level directories) still returns the access denied error.

I'm running Firefox 102.0.1 (64-bit) on Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS.
