I have always been able to delete just downloads, that functionality does remain, however, some times it works, most of the time it doesn't work, simply can't delete the downloads.

I don't want to delete history and downloads, just downloads.

Any idea why this function works randomly?

Thanks.

Trying to allow a manufacturers' system scan after suffering longstanding desktop issues but before this can happen I have to download their support assist launcher. So the problem is, the download is blocked after the run/save window with another saying unknown publisher and so refuses to start downloading. The manufacturer says check internet connection. It's fine Now I've allowed the name of the support launcher in firewall via exceptions but it still won't load. Even tried it with firewall turned off. The download Icon TzsetupSfx, is shown in the downloads folder along with its file version 1.2.0.715 and name of publisher. So what can I do to get the download accepted by Firefox. I'm running 52.7 in win XP 3 pro. The manufacturers' URL is a www.

I need to block my default firefox downloader and use downthemall for every single download but there appears to be no easy way to do that. There used to be an addon named "Public Fox" which did exactly that but Public Fox isn't now compatible with the latest version of Firefox.

In simple words maybe I just need a version of Public Fox compatible with Firefox 55.

I run FF 38.0.1 on Win7. I download MP3 files from our audiobook forum by right clicking on the link and selecting "save as". Since moving to FF38, using "save as" method to download a file gives me only a file fragment. I am able to use "save as" to download the complete MP3 file with IE or Chrome.

For an example of the files I am trying to download, see "Listen" links under "Listen URL" here: https://forum.librivox.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=56485 (This is a sample project file - we have a couple hundred of these projects open at any point in time, where we collect the MP3s until it is time to put them in finished audiobook form. The issue seems to arise across the board on all of the MP3 files on our open projects.)

We have quite a few FF users among our audiobook community - and several people have now reported this problem when they updated their FF to FF38. This was not an issue with earlier versions of FF. None of the other reports indicate what OS is being used. We download both MP3 and FLAC files, and the people with this problem have it with all files that they try to download using FF (so it's not that some MP3s can be saved and others can't - the "save as" function doesn't work for any of them). They also report no issues using Save As to download any files using IE or Chrome.

One of our forum users reported that if you begin playing the MP3 file by opening the link to the MP3 in a new tab, you can then navigate to the new tab, right click anywhere in the page and click "save page as" to successfully download the MP3 file. I have tried this and it does work. But it would be quicker to be able to use "save as" without having to begin playing the audio file first in a new tab.

I have tried using "save as" to download an MP3 file for one of our finished projects which are hosted over at Internet Archive. That works fine, and "save as" results in the entire MP3 file being downloaded. As an example, I successfully downloaded the MP3 of chapter 1 here: https://archive.org/download/drjekyllandmrhydedr_1505_librivox

Thanks for your help in checking this out!

I am using Firefox 38 on Windows 7. I can download some pdf files, but not always. Sometimes I get the error

"C:\Users\[user]\AppData\Local\Temp\[tempfilename].part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read." I also sometimes get the message "pdf file is corrupted"

I tried disabling add-ons and restarting in safe mode, but that didn't help either

If I click the shortcut, I can choose to open it directly or to download it. I choose open in with excel (2013) but before doing that, the file download first and then opens in excel. If I refresh firefox, the problem is solved but after one session, the problem occurs again. Other times, it last for a week or serveral weeks and then occurs again. Some pc's have this problem, others don't. All have the latest updates of firefox / windows... There's no logic explanation, it occors with windows 7 - 10 thanks in advance...

With any pdf file, the downoad progress bar indicates all is well until the end when it says "a few seconds left"...for the next 5 minutes. Only then does the download folder show the file had more than 0 bytes and can it be opened. I can open Chrome, copy and paste the URL for the pdf site and download it there before Firefox is done. Or If I select the "open" radio button in the popup window, Foxit Reader allows me to immediately save a copy.

I have changed download folders and disabled all add-ons. Yesterday I did a firefox reset which seemed to fix it. After reloading and configuring all my plugins, it still worked. But today the problem is back...

Any ideas? Thanks...

Title pretty much covers it: When I try to download .exe files Firefox says "Unknown time remaining - 0 bytes (0 bytes/sec)"

I've already tried all the tips suggested here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/cant-download-or-save-files#w_check-the-downloads-panel-for-blocked-downloads But none of them worked.

The only antivirus software I have installed is Windows defender. I have done a bunch of Firefox refreshes, but to no avail. And I did a fresh install of windows just days ago. I also have a lot of add-ons installed, but I was already having this issue the first time I started Firefox so it can't be them.

The issue seems to be limited to .exe files, but I'm not sure about that.

Just got a new computer with windows-10. Nothing but problems. I had no issues with foxfire when using windows-7. But now with windows-10 .. I can not download/save charts from the web. It must be something within my/the firefox settings. ps ..... I have no problem doing this using opera. In Opera when I click "save chart as image(.png), it magically appears in my downloads as a photo.

Step by step --> 1) Website has an option "save chart as image(.png) 2) When I do that, a windows box appears because it sees it as a text (box tells me that). I am assuming it wants to take a picture of the graph. 3) In the box I am asked what do I want to open the file with (and it states that notepad is the default) 4) I can change the default of notepad, and I can access my C drive .. but i have no clue what to choose to open the file with and have a picture taken, then downloaded it.

ps ..... in Opera, I do not have to click here & there to get it done -- I simply click "save chart"

windows-10 firefox 60.0 no installed plugins

I would greatly appreciate help with a fix for this so I can continue using firefox. tyvm

So here is the problem. I can save any file with no problem when it comes to the default DOWNLOADS folder. But I like to save files to my desktop. Used too, from version 30 and older, I could save to desktop with no problems. But ever since version 31, it has been failing more and more when it comes to EXE files. I have reset, reinstalled, fresh installed, even an I.E. reset and many other options suggested on many forums. After a lot of digging I tried to make the problem show up when I save to my Downloads folder and the fails do not happen. But i save the EXE to my desktop and it fails 100% of the time. I have tried running firefox with and without administrator mode. ( Right clicking and choosing Run as Administrator )

This problem has creeped into firefox over the last several version updates. ( 31.x + )

Side note : It happens at random websites. In I.E. or Chrome, those sites save the files just fine, but in firefox it will fail if I save to desktop. Again, If I choose the Downloads folder it saves just fine. I have tested this with and without ad-ons. So the ad-ons are not the problem. In fact the only ad-on I currently am using is the adblock plus. I have tested this without that ad-on and the problem still persists. I have even tested this problem without an anti-virus, and the problem still persists.

EXAMPLE : Test with Blender.org.. Choose the USA x64 Bit version and save the install EXE file and you should be able to duplicate the problem.

Hi,

Recently whenever I save an image in firefox to my desktop or a desired folder, the image is saved as a jfif file. This makes it complicated to upload images to my website and I now need to convert all the files before I can use them. It doesn't matter if I "save as" or drag and drop, the result is the same. How can I stop this from happening? I don't want to switch browsers as I've always used firefox but this issue poses a major inconvenience for me when I'm working.

Hi !

Suddenly I can't download any smaller file on firefox. It started to happen probably from last firefox update. Every file is - failed. Only files that i can download are bigger files (+100mb) but these files are also interrupted so you must always "retry" them. Smaller files simply fail to download.

I tried many things from troubleshooting tutorial but nothing works. I have many tabs, sessions, bookmarks etc that I don't want to disappear so I don't want to delete profile.

Thanks
