Mozilla/Firefox is my browser. Lately, every time I am on a website where I need to open a pdf document, like a bank statement I want to download, a pop-up appears that advises me to sign on the dotted line or anywhere and shows a little pen writing something. Underneath is this sentence: "Draw, type or upload your signature, then place it exactly where you want. Save your go-to signature for next time."

Where did that come from? It blocks my view of the document and if i try to capture it in a "screenshot" nothing appears. Is this a Mozilla/Firefox thing or a (Acrobat) pdf thing? And what can I do to stop it?

So when I read and edit documents (PDFs), I need to manually select the highlighter and other tools, and it is very painful and tedious. Also, there is no option for different modes, such as solarized mode, and I need to install extensions, which are not compatible as well. Now is there any way to enable and fix these?

For the past YEAR or more, every time I choose to download a PDF (whether by saving a web page via file/print/save to PDF or by downloading an actual PDF via emailed link) my saved PDF has a padlock. I am forced to remove each padlock individually by adding 'users' under permissions. There is no way to do this for more than one file at a time.

This never used to happen in the past and I've made no changes to my PC or to my Firefox settings. I know it's a FF thing because if I save my own MS Word files to PDF there is no padlock.

Is there ANYTHING I can do to finally stop this and download PDFs without a padlock?

Thanks.

I create and save files in OneDrive. When I open a file, it always opens in the Microsoft Edge Browser which is a problem for the old guy, me. I prefer that they open only in the documents folder as their specific kind of document; Word, PDF, and Excel spreadsheet files so that I can then move my files into various folders and sub-files. Hopefully, someone can figure out what I have said and help me. • I'm uncertain if the topic I chose accurately describes my question.

There is an issue with PDFs downloaded using the Firefox PDF viewer. The PDF contains a valid digital signature. When I set the parameter pdfjs.disabled = true, everything works as expected, the PDF is downloaded correctly, and when I open it with Adobe Reader, the signature is valid. However, when I set this parameter to false (default value) and download the PDF using the built-in Firefox PDF viewer, the signature becomes invalid. I compared both PDF files using a text editor and a diff tool, and the only difference I found was a specific change in the content. 1)pdf- signature is valid Ψα Exif II* μ Ducky d α http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/ <x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" x:xmptk="Adobe XMP Core 5.6-c138 79.159824, 2016/09/14-01:09:01 "> <rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"> <rdf:Description rdf:about="" xmlns:xmpMM="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/mm/" xmlns:stRef="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/sType/ResourceRef#" xmlns:xmp="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/" xmpMM:DocumentID="xmp.did:FF61BC20787811E896E6E83BD502C18A" xmpMM:InstanceID="xmp.iid:FF61BC1F787811E896E6E83BD502C18A" xmp:CreatorTool="paint.net 4.0.16"> <xmpMM:DerivedFrom stRef:instanceID="452A56456B1E68A148301EBAD51349D5" stRef:documentID="452A56456B1E68A148301EBAD51349D5"/> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF> </x:xmpmeta> ξ Adobe dΐ Ϋ „ ΐ F F Δ • 2)invalid pdf Ψα Exif μ Ducky d α http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/ <x:xmpmeta xmlns:x="adobe:ns:meta/" x:xmptk="Adobe XMP Core 5.6-c138 79.159824, 2016/09/14-01:09:01 "> <rdf:RDF xmlns:rdf="http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"> <rdf:Description rdf:about="" xmlns:xmpMM="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/mm/" xmlns:stRef="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/sType/ResourceRef#" xmlns:xmp="http://ns.adobe.com/xap/1.0/" xmpMM:DocumentID="xmp.did:FF61BC20787811E896E6E83BD502C18A" xmpMM:InstanceID="xmp.iid:FF61BC1F787811E896E6E83BD502C18A" xmp:CreatorTool="paint.net 4.0.16"> <xmpMM:DerivedFrom stRef:instanceID="452A56456B1E68A148301EBAD51349D5" stRef:documentID="452A56456B1E68A148301EBAD51349D5"/> </rdf:Description> </rdf:RDF> </x:xmpmeta> ξ Adobe dΐ Ϋ „ ΐ F F Δ • I cannot understand why the Firefox PDF viewer modifies the PDF content. I'm viewing a pdf that seems to be made of stacked images. While viewing this pdf in firefox it has these black lines between images, as seen in attachment, these change slightly as I zoom in. These lines do not appear when viewing the pdf in brave, see other attachment.

Also, this happens both on my desktop and laptop that have very different firefox setups.

How can I fix this without fixing the pdf?

Unfortunately, my workflow involves dealing with multiple PDF files per day. However, for some reason, Firefox's behavior with regards to PDF files is inconsistent.

  • If I set the Action to Save File, Firefox downloads all PDF files, including those that it can normally open in the browser when I click a link (e.g. files hosted in servers that allow direct access to PDF files). As such, my Downloads folder is cluttered and needs to be cleaned regularly to delete the PDF files that were downloaded even if I could have opened them in the browser.
  • If I set the Action to Open in Firefox, Firefox can now open those hosted PDF files in the browser instead of downloading them to disk. However, every time I download a file, Firefox then opens the file in Firefox after downloading, even though I need to edit the PDF file somewhere else.

Would it be possible to set Firefox's behavior so that it does BOTH of these things:

  1. Open PDF files that can be opened in the browser without downloading in Firefox without needing to be downloaded, AND
  2. Do not open downloaded PDF files in Firefox after downloading is complete.

this is supposed to have a QR code, but it does not load. I have attached a still screenshot below.

I also cannot upload images using Firefox to Messenger. The large purple image is a result of an upload, but it should be a picture of a woman saved from Krita.

I tried a setting called "Refresh Firefox" and that fixed it but only for less than a day. whats going on?

When printing a PDF with custom page ranges, the footer text in the print preview (see image) does not match the actual page. As shown in the example image, if I want to print pages 2-16, the preview indicating page 4 is actually page 5.

So, if I want to print with a very custom range, such as 2-4, 6-10, 12-14, 16, it will be very confusing and will take longer to adjust.

And I also print custom ranges like this very often for daily tasks. I’m not sure if this is a bug or just a minor adjustment needed in Firefox’s coding. Thank you in advance for your help.

I am using Firefox version 136.0.1 and we have multiple PDFs that are password protected (please see attached screenshot from Adobe Acrobat).

When the PDFs are opened in Firefox, it allows the user to add annotation/text/draw which we do not want to happen hence we added restrictions to the PDF. It seems to me that Firefox does not respect the security added to the file. How can I restrict annotations to the PDF or at least require password when the user tries to add text to it?

The following viewers/editors ask for password before you can edit them (expeted): - Chrome - Edge - Adobe Acrobat Pro

Thank you.
