I understand the charter on this is to "check-in" once every time the program is turned on, and then once every 6 hours after that, or, once every 24 hours presumably. But the phone-home-effect is over-stepping these basic parameters. If a user turns their browser off and then on, Firefox is still obligated to "check-in" even if it just checked in 3 minutes prior. If the coding is not pre-designed to overstep, or act excessively in a redundant focus, the instance of once every six hours or once every 24 hours, is still overmuch if a user has been doing this (non-voluntarily-participating) for 9 months or longer.

Whenever I am using firefox ( daily) it seems to use up a huge amnount of memory. It uses so much that loading pages slows to a crawl, and so do any other applications I am using. This happens even if I have only 2, or even 1 tab open. I am pretty sure I don't have any viruses-- although I admit I suppose this is possible--

but why would firefox be using this much memory/ space?

I have Firefox installed in a linux-system, everything was working fine, then i moved all extensions to the global extensions folder, now the problem is, Firefox will not start unless i remove extensions.rdf in the profile-folder, no errormessage is shown, as soon as it starts it recreates extensions.rdf and then won't start the next time. I've already tried cleaning out the complete profile, which will work the first time firefox starts, but as soon as it has created extensions.rdf it will not start again.
