My windows 10 pc is set to dark mode, my win 11 pc is set to dark mode, my firefox theme on both pc's is set to dark mode, my phone is on light mode. On my windows firefox which is updated on both devices the top bar will stay dark in dark mode (default firefox theme) but after certain pages it resets itself to light, is this because of my phone being on light mode and themes are syncing over? its extremley annoying and after using the debug: page to try and force darkmode i had to reset firefox due to debug causing issues, now im using an untouched firefox version and it keeps changing from dark mode to light mode!

The LastPass add-on has somewhat spontaneously stopped auto-filling passwords even though I have that option enabled. I assume this is a Firefox issue because my vault is there just fine and recognizes the website and passwords (just won't autofill). Has anyone else run into this issue? How did you resolve it?

Is there a way to autofill for most sites but not autofill for certain sites while still saving passwords through firefox for those sites. I like to store my bank information on firefox behind an master password but it automatically autofills with out asking for the master password. Can I limit the sites that autofill passwords or require the master password in order to autofill? Any suggestions?

Sometimes, if the computer is offline and Firefox is open, when the computer goes back online Firefox can't connect to any website, with the page "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.". The only fix is to close Firefox and open it again. Going offline doesn't always do this, and while I'm not sure of what exactly causes this to happen, a way to easily reproduce it is:

  • Turn off the Wi-Fi;
  • Reboot the computer;
  • Open Firefox;
  • Turn on the Wi-Fi;

After the computer is connected, refreshing the page sends you to "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.". You have to restart Firefox.

A way that doesn't 100% reproduce it, but works enough times, is to reboot the computer without turning off the Wi-Fi, and open Firefox as soon as possible (before the computer manages to connect to the router, which is the part that isn't always consistent). Rarely, it happens after suspending the computer, or after a disconnection due to an unstable connection. I can reproduce it in Firefox's safe mode. I have a hunch that maybe this is related to networking drivers.

I'm using a Lenovo IdeaPad 5 14ARE05 (Network controller: Intel Corporation Wi-Fi 6 AX200 (rev 1a)), Linux NixOS 22.11 (I don't know about Windows).

Ask me for any log you might need.

This is kinda a duplicate of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1078253, except that their solution does nothing to me.

Hi All

I manage my cookies manually as I keep many tabs open permanently. Having to constantly log back in to those accounts would be onerous if cookies were deleted on close of browser. Managing this via manually adding the website exceptions function is also a drag.

Would it be possible to have a 'keep cookie list' that are saved when the browser is closed?

Cheers M

When I right click on an image in Firefox, and choose the "Copy Image" option, it never works. In fact, it hasn't worked in years for me, and that's on numerous PCs, with Windows 7 and Windows 10. I'm doing this so I can paste images into Photoshop. It looks like, instead of copying the image itself, it's just copying the image file, but this means I can't paste it into Photoshop.

There are a couple car forums that have a thread called “Create a Quick Thread”. It appears near the top of the thread listings & is there for convenience.

However most times this thread is opened automatically when I access the forum & opens a text box which in turn I have to close. This started happening about a year ago & I thought it was a forum problem but no one else seems to have the problem. Not the end of the world but the box takes up the height of a full screen & is a PITA to keep closing something I never wanted opened.

I tried the MS Edge browser & a Chromebook & neither automatically opened that line so I’m presuming it’s a FF issue.

If I close out of the forum but keep FF open & go back into the forum, the Quick Thread does not automatically open. IOW FF must be remembering to not open it. I wish it always remembered not to open it. I cannot find any FF setting that would control this behavior.

Any suggestions on how to stop this thread from automatically opening?

The first image shows the line the thread is on.

The second image shows what I normally get greeted with.

Hey folks,

I hope you can help me.

If I press the Escape key three times, it obscures the screen for a second and then rebuilds the frame, so I guess it reloads the page? The attached picture shows my Youtube start page - as you can see, it's just the frame itself but not the scroll bar, so it's about the page, not the whole firefox window itself.

If I press Escape four times, firefox closes the current tab and opens a new one with my start page loaded.

What the Eff is happening here? That can't be a feature, can it? Has anybody experienced anything similar and can point me in the right direction?

Much appreciated

Firefox Browsers recognised as one device in account management after copying profile files to two devices

Hello,

I am using Firefox for PC/Win10. I have recently got a second laptop for work purposes and being familiar on a basic level with transferring data, I copied the files for Mozilla Firefox from appropriate AppData/Roaming folder, from my private computer to the new laptop. I guess I was just being lazy to reinstall all extensions and configure it from scratch and now it backfired as follows:

The two devices are not shown separately in the devices list on my account, which for me suggests something is wrong. It's either showing a "Device A with name X" or "Device B with name Y"; sometimes it also was just without difference, just like it was the same device. It's quite concerning to me, I don't think it should be this way. It also seems it's not syncing the open tabs correctly, as there are no suggestions from the other device when I type in a website address, which I used on the other one. Also no entries through the account buttons/menu in the browser. So, now I have different tabs open on both of them and no distinction. The bookmarks and other things seem to be synchronising as they should, though. I kind of wouldn't want to lose whatever I did on the new laptop.

Is there something I can do, apart from removing everything and starting from scratch, to tidy this up? I don't fear editing files if it was necessary, but I would need a thorough explaination if that could be a solution.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure what is causing this, but it started at least a few months ago. I will be using firefox, and anywhere between a few minutes, or a few days, it will suddenly stop loading anything and I will have to completely quit it and restart it to get anything working again. No, it is not the HTTP3 problem; that was the first thing I tried. I've also uninstalled, and reinstalled the entire program, clearing all settings, etc. I am on windows. Generally good on firefox updates, will check and update usually every week or two.

Funny thing is, I also installed firefox nightly and that does not have this problem (although I have not used it as extensively as I normally do when browsing, so maybe I didn't hit whatever triggers this issue). It also works properly on other computers (as far as I'm aware). So I still think something is corrupt or wrong with my normal firefox program. I just don't know what or how.

Years ago I imported a Firefox profile from Ubuntu 16.04 to a PC running 18.04. It wasn't very hard. View Hidden Folders, find the old FF profile, copy it. Then go to the 18.04 PC, delete or rename the existing profile, and paste in the profile from the 16.04 rig. Restart the PC, Firefox came up on the 18.04 PC just like it did on the 26.04 PC.

But Ubuntu is doing something different now. Firefox is inside the "snap" folder. Apparently snap is some sort of new package mgr. (?)

I found a firefox profile a few levels down inside the snap folder: Home/snap/firefox/common/.mozilla/firefox/xxxxxxxx.default

Does snap complicate things? Or can I replace the new profile on the 22.04 PC inside the snap folder with the profile that I want to use from the 18.04 PC? Just like in the past, but inside snap rather than the .firefox folder in Home?
