Firefox and IE can access most web pages, but both go "unable to connect" on mozilla.org

Hello,

I'm trying to update Firefox on a relative's Windows 10 computer, but none of the installed browsers can reach the Mozilla main pages. We're stuck on version 72.0.2

Other webpages load fine. The only way I've gotten mozilla.org to load is by using a web proxy, but then the error appears when I try to download the latest version of firefox (it's always "download was interrupted" then). Going down the recommendations on this help page https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-and-other-browsers-cant-load-websites , I verified that windows firewall allows Firefox. Then I checked the system time and the wireless connection. Flushing the DNS cache was similarly fruitless. Other computers using the same internet provider in the same house don't have this problem, so I don't think the ISP is at fault. I even went looking for the DNS number of the website and tried inputting that into my address bar. Still no luck. I made an HTTP log file of the error through about:networking, as described here https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Mozilla/Debugging/HTTP_logging, and will attach it. I really hope you can help me troubleshoot this; it's been plaguing my relative for an excruciatingly long time.

... hm. Your attachments browser window doesn't see .moz_log files, so I've uploaded them to this ge.tt address: http://ge.tt/1ocAom83 .

Hello,

I recently installed the Multi-Account Containers extension but noticed that it also added some unwanted right click context menu items to assets for websites that I have put into containers. For example google.com and youtube.com are both put inside a "google" container. Now I have used the folowing code: "menu[label="Open Link in New Google Tab"] {display:none!important;} " in the userChrome.css file to remove the context menu item: "Open Link in New Google Tab" but it's only taking effect on the google.com website and not youtube.com.

Anyone know the reason why?

Thanks in advace.

Hello,

I installed a proxy on Firefox. On the website facebook.com when I click on a button that open a new firefox window to connect my instagram account to my facebook page, it opens a white page with "about:blank" URL instead of the instagram registration page. What does it mean and what am I supposed to do to solve it?

Thank you.

At first I was getting the something not wrong but don't fret we'll give it another shot message so I looked online and added Twitter to a block list and cleared all my cookies. This got rid of that message and I was able to get to the login page but when I go to login it still won't let me. I know the password is right (it also doesn't say anything like incorrect username/password). Someone in another forum had mentioned going into configs and flicking something from true to false or vice versa and that also didn't work. Most places I look just say the same old thing about cookies. It works perfectly fine on the mobile app and Chrome still but I prefer Firefox. I'm out of ideas.

Hi, I experimented for maybe 30 mins trying to get rid of a white border at the top of the browser but were unsuccessful and the others mentioning border problems seems to suffer more from a white thick line surrounding all sides...

Basically, I got a new computer and with it the latest firefox update. I never noticed how prominent the top border of the browser is, especially in dark mode and I'm wondering if there's a way to get rid of it and move the minimize/close browser buttons down to the tab section of the browser instead? And if that doesn't work, is there a way to darken the top border to the same black as the rest of the browser?

Kind regards Thomas

Hello Not responding Not responding Not responding  ??? This version of Firefox ( Firefox Setup 60.0.1 ) I installed 5 minutes ago, and it is the first day I use this computer. I don't know why this problem is common with a Firefox ? Sometimes, perhaps it is due to the computer ( not good performance ) But this a very modern laptop I use now. Then suppose it is due to the computer, why then it does not occur with Google Chrome browser ? Not responding Not responding Not responding It is very annoying If this will not recover, I no longer use this browser never and ever The browser is new to go and do troubleshooting or refresh even no add-ons it has ( none I installed) Even to do a slight touch it becomes irritating. If it is due to viruses , I have one good activated program ( Eset internet security )_ Moreover, I yesterday tested my computer with the anti- malware ( new copy ) ! So, what is the reason I see or think this browser can never be protected and as I think it sends more cookies to us the users One can go to library and read books or search about not to come to internet and use any browser Tow days ago my laptop ( Not this one ) became damaged and the smart hard disk exposed to a sever hurt and I left out ( cannot be repaired ) and the reason of course using the internet It is a new method to track users sending them malicious viruses just one presses on I accept to the cookies These cookies as much as I know are spy -tracking viruses So , what to do all pages behave the same manner. I excuse for the long post, but it also my right to complain Give me a solution to ( not responding ) for Firefox only.

Hey,

My employer recently updated its information security policy, and as a part of that disabled Firefox accounts on our work laptops. Is there a way to "manually" sync passwords, bookmarks, tabs etc. to and from a computer that is not logged in? Installing third party software is, because of the same security policy, not an option.

I've relied heavily on Firefox Sync in the past, as I often come across items of interest that I bookmark on my private laptop that I would like to access on my work computer and vice versa, passwords are updated often etc. The updated security policy has become a real nuisance, so I am looking for a workaround. ;)

(And yes, I am talking to our IT department, and they are at least semi interested in finding a solution.)

Appreciate any help!

-K

I have been having trouble with Firefox continuing to autoplay videos even with preferences set to "Block Audio and Video."

This is NOT about auto-fill. For at least a month now, Firefox has not been recognizing forms on a variety of websites. This morning I was looking at a clothing website, but no matter what I did, I could not enter a size and then choose a color for any items. I opened another browser, and the website worked fine. I just tried to renew library books, and again, in Firefox, nothing I tried to do on the website worked. In another browser, the website worked fine. I have filled out almost an entire form on some websites, and then one box that I must fill out ("state" for example) doesn't work, and I can't complete the form. In another browser, the website form works fine. What's going on? I am updated with the latest version. This is happening on at least two computers.

Saving Web pages as PDF - add-ins do not work properly - can we please have a native option like Chrome |?

Have tried a ton of add-ins to be able to save a web page with searchable text as a searchable PDF, complete with the images displayed on the page, and the links shown. So far I have not found a single add-in that creates searchable text from all the (searchable) text that is displayed on the web page, and all the images, and all the links. Some give a pdf output that includes all the text but not all of it is selectable or searchable. Some do give searchable text but do not display the images. I have even tried the option of using several different print to pdf virtual drivers, and all of them behave similarly, with one issue or the other.

This is a basic requirement, and it needs to work. So far, the only thing that works is a chrome=based brpwser using the native save to pdf function. (The pdf print drivers do not work with the chrome browser either - they produce the same problems as using Firefox.) I am flagging this so some kind person on the forum can step up to the mark - for finding or creating something that works. (FF latest). The solution needs to work without any third party servers - just the good ol' browser !

Thanks
