I am an 84-year-old newbie! I have enabled 2 FA. But... when I click on Firefox in the taskbar F/fox opens and I can access all the bookmarks in the bookmark bar without any more security.

When does the 2FA come into this?

I have a very annoying issue.

I am on the Firefox ESR version which is deployed via Intune. I am on the latest 115.9.0 and on Windows 11 22H2

After a certain period of time (never took note of it sadly) tabs start crashing and keep crashing. The only way to fix this issue is to terminate firefox via task manager and relaunch.

What is the best way to start investigating this and try to understand what is causing the tab crashes.

I'm running Firefox 123.0.1 on Linux Mint 21.2. Something changed after my last update. I visit a number of web sites at which I scroll down a window to a link, click on it to open it, read that link, and then return to the previous page. Examples are news sites like slashdot.org, associated press, or arcamax. Firefox used to return to the place in the original site page where I had clicked on a link. Now, it returns to the top of the original site page, and I have to scroll down again to where I had clicked on a link. I can right click on a link, open a new tab, and then close that tab, but that requires multiple clicks, and I used to just click/click. Is there a way to set up Firefox to go back to the previous behavior? Thanks in advance. ;

I really wish I had taken a screenshot. Time to learn!

Hello, i need help. If I create shortcut, and start firefox in another profile, like this:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -class FF2 --profile "C:\Users\mire\Desktop\TEST\Apps\Instagram" --no-remote instagram.com

And if i set in "user.js" --> user_pref("taskbar.grouping.useprofile", true);.

For some reason after firefox starts, or after second start, firefox icon on the taskbar turns into a private browsing icon!

I tried everything to prevent this, I tried to add:

user_pref("browser.privateWindowSeparation.enabled", false); user_pref("browser.privacySegmentation.windowSeparation.enabled", false);

Nothing works...

I checked million times that im not in private browsing, and i'm not.

Then, after some tests I found that if I remove the flag: "user_pref("taskbar.grouping.useprofile", true);" from 'user.js' and 'prefs.js', and start profile again, taskbar icon becomes normal firefox icon.

Is this a bug?

And what should i do if i want to have separate grouping for the PROFILE2, and i don't want to have that private browsing icon?

You can see in the picture what was happening...

A certain set of plaintext files are rendered in a weird way when opened in Firefox.

Some plaintext files are rendered "MS Gothic", which is the default monospace font for plaintext files in Japanese encoding. (Also, if I change font.name-list.monospace.ja to "monospace", the font changes).

However, the files are not in Japanese encoding, they do not contain a single character in Japanese encoding. Since the files are local, they have no HTTP headers to determine the encoding, so Firefox must have guessed the encoding somehow. How can I stop firefox from detecting those files as Japanese while they are not?

Also, I noticed that this issue happens only with long files. The shorter a file, the less likely it is that Firefox renders the file as if it had Japanese encoding.

Since I cannot reproduce the issue with smaller files and the files contain confidential information, I am unable to provide a minimal reproducer.

As a workaround, I could change font.name-list.monospace.ja, but this would change (potentially break) rendering of Japanese websites.

I'm using Firefox 124.0.1 on Windows 10, although this issue has been present for at least some months (at least 4 firefox releases).

The screenshot shows an excerpt where the text "C:\Temp\2024-" is partially rendered with Japanese glyphs and fully rendered with "MS Gothic" font which is hard to read with ASCII characters.

PS: I [censored] some of the information in the "Troubleshooting Information" field below.

Everyone says my audio sounds distorted in google video chat. I had been using it for months without issue on Firefox, and then I got a new Apple computer and people started to tell me I had this issue. In order to isolate the issue I tried going on Teams Video chat and Zoom video chat and people said my audio sounded fine there. Then I opened Google Video Chat in Google Chrome and people said my audio sounded fine there too. Lately, it's only when I'm on Firefox trying to use Google Video Chat (aka Google Meet) to video chat and people say my audio sounds way too distorted to hear what I'm saying. I restarted my computer, I even checked for the latest browser, which is up to date, I can't figure out how to fix this. Sounds like a firefox issue. Any ideas?

I want to make sure that my sensitive information remains protected throughout the syncing process. Can anyone recommend a secure solution or provide guidance on the best practices for setting up Firefox sync? I recently started using Firefox as my main browser after using Chrome for awhile, and I'm now running into trouble playing music on Spotify.

Every time I try to play a song on the browser version of Spotify, it cycles through several quickly without playing anything and eventually displays an error message that says: "Spotify can't play this right now. If you have the file on your computer you can import it."

I've seen others with similar issues (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1431659) but the suggested fixes aren't working for me. My Firefox is up-to-date, I have DRM controlled content enabled, as well as the Widevine Content Decryption Module.

Looking for any suggestions!

Hello all. One of my 3 devices does not show up under the "connected devices" window. It's my Samsung A71 smartphone. It hasn't shown up for over 2 1/2 years. I have auto updates set up, I have sync set up, and I have checked settings. I don't know what else to check; I have been all over the place, checking. So, my question is this: how do I manually add it in? What happens after that, can I still sync it, but does that have to be manual, also? Much thanks.
