FF was acting normally all day, including YouTube. I viewed some instructional videos, and they played fine. Then in the evening, I went to YouTube, and FF started crashing constantly. Sometimes a video would play for a few seconds before crashing, other times FF would crash as soon as I clicked on something. I changed absolutely nothing, no settings, nothing since when it was working fine earlier in the day. Sometimes it crashes even when I'm not playing any video. I assume that some video on the site I'm on probably started automatically (ads).

I've been looking through tons of questions, threads, etc. The only thing I can find is that it's probably related to Flash. I've uninstalled it (v17), reinstalled v18, hardware acceleration is off, Windows updated, etc. I can't find anything else to try.

Below are the crash reports. There's only four because usually when FF crashes I usually don't take the time to submit the report, so these are all from today:

bp-21329c08-0ba9-4ded-b9bf-bb19e2150612 bp-1dd0fd8d-d04b-48d8-8d17-3c1a32150612 bp-141d79d4-8e59-4d81-96e0-3dd252150612 bp-c7dc4c7f-c7eb-46a9-87a7-e8b222150612

One of the crash reports noted this: Related Bugs

723133 VERIFIED FIXED Crash Report [@ PluginWndProcInternal ] stack overflow from infinite recursion

But I can't figure out what to do to fix it. Any ideas?

When browsing certain pages (specifically Reddit.com), going back to the previous page will refresh the whole page, which expands the comments I've collapsed and I can no longer find the comment I was looking at a moment ago.

Currently I do not have any add-ons activated, but if I start Firefox in safe-mode the problem is no longer there.

I have tried to refresh Firefox, but this did not solve my problem.

I have also cleared my cache and this did not solve my problem either.

This is a problem that seems to come and go from time to time, without any reason that I understand.

Hi users !

I'm experiencing long seconds (up to few minutes) stuck aka freeze aka hang with newest Firefox, due to loading flash plugin used to play videos, advertisements on web pages (unfortunatelly most of web). Firefox is not useable, because it's happening so often. I'm not sure when it started (version of FF, or version of Flash plugin).

In this freeze case, when it is urgent, I turn on my Internet explorer 11.0.9600.17501 and it never fails, no matter I'm browsing.

To solve my Firefox issue, I have tried and didn't work: - turning off hardware accelerating - running in safe mode - make a new profile

I'm worried to use MozBackup to save all important personal stuff from my FF and total reinstal whole app. Because MozBackup is pretty old and last time I used it, I didn't know what all are files for, to move to next instance. Lot of rubbish was moved with it and if I cut more and more stuff, I don't know what is important for my personal settings, saves... what is essential for running it well and what is better to delete for smooth run of new instance.

If it's possible, I would like to try all solutions without reinstall whole FF please.

My system: FF 38.0.1 Flash plugin 17.0.0.169 Windows 7 32 bit older laptop, but hardware performance is not a problem

Thank you

Hello,

I am running the newest update for firefox (Version 38.0.1) on Mac OS Version 10.6.8. When I open a new window in firefox, the close, maximize, and minimize buttons are located in the top left corner, as usual. However, if I enter fullscreen mode on a video, and then exit, the buttons are not there. They are not simply invisible - clicking in their usual location has no effect.

Thanks, ReOsIr

Absolute murder over 100 crashes in a very short space, done everything disable add ons/offs and it crashes whatever. I am absolutely stuck......reloaded FF safe mode and fresh FF so many times...and it simply doesn't work. I've checked Firewall if FF was loaded with permissions and it wasn't... but that didn't help. The bogey is "server not found". What the heck is the cause of it ?

I run FF 38.0.1 on Win7. I download MP3 files from our audiobook forum by right clicking on the link and selecting "save as". Since moving to FF38, using "save as" method to download a file gives me only a file fragment. I am able to use "save as" to download the complete MP3 file with IE or Chrome.

For an example of the files I am trying to download, see "Listen" links under "Listen URL" here: https://forum.librivox.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=56485 (This is a sample project file - we have a couple hundred of these projects open at any point in time, where we collect the MP3s until it is time to put them in finished audiobook form. The issue seems to arise across the board on all of the MP3 files on our open projects.)

We have quite a few FF users among our audiobook community - and several people have now reported this problem when they updated their FF to FF38. This was not an issue with earlier versions of FF. None of the other reports indicate what OS is being used. We download both MP3 and FLAC files, and the people with this problem have it with all files that they try to download using FF (so it's not that some MP3s can be saved and others can't - the "save as" function doesn't work for any of them). They also report no issues using Save As to download any files using IE or Chrome.

One of our forum users reported that if you begin playing the MP3 file by opening the link to the MP3 in a new tab, you can then navigate to the new tab, right click anywhere in the page and click "save page as" to successfully download the MP3 file. I have tried this and it does work. But it would be quicker to be able to use "save as" without having to begin playing the audio file first in a new tab.

I have tried using "save as" to download an MP3 file for one of our finished projects which are hosted over at Internet Archive. That works fine, and "save as" results in the entire MP3 file being downloaded. As an example, I successfully downloaded the MP3 of chapter 1 here: https://archive.org/download/drjekyllandmrhydedr_1505_librivox

Thanks for your help in checking this out!

Hi

I am having the typical "This Connection is Untrusted" message visiting a website.

When clicking in technical details, instead of having the button "Add exception", i have this message

XXXXX uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

How can i do to trust this certificate? I have tried to add an exception, as explained in different threads, but still not working

Thanks

Hi,

Ever since I upgraded to FF 38.0, whenever I try to open a link in a new window, (which I do all the time - not a tabs person ;) ) the right hand side scroll bar doesn't show, nor does the new window respond to the scroll wheel on my mouse. If I open up another instance of FF, and copy/paste the URI from the window without the scroll bar, all is fine, but that's quickly becoming a real pain. I've tried starting FF in Safe Mode - no difference. Tried uninstalling all of my extensions - still, no difference, and apparently my google-fu is failing me on this one. Any thoughts, by chance?

Thanks,

Dylan

P.S. On Win 8.1 Pro 64.

I can't even begin to express how ridiculous it is that such a simple function should be so hard to figure out. It's probably the number 1 thing I want from a browser, the ability to access my most common sites quickly from a drop down menu.

Anyway - I still cannot remove some sites from the dropdown - one was a typo of a site I use all the time and now I have to click on it then retype the address every time. Another page (a friend of a friend's Facebook page) was added to the dropdown menu after I looked at this page just once (so what absurd system decides what gets added, never to be deleted?) I have clicked "delete" on these two "favourites" unnumerable times, they disappear momentarily but are always back again the next time I click on the drop down.

Secondly, not only can I not remove these pointless URLs, I can also not add new URLs which I really want and which would be really useful.

Can anyone at Firefox solve this immensely stupid problem?

Many thanks in advance

This morning I tried to open a website that I use regularly to remotely wake my work PC. It has a password prompt but Firefox knows the password so I don't see that come up. This morning when I try and open the website Firefox simply closes. No crash report is generated. When I re-open I get asked if I want to start in Safe Mode or Refresh Firefox. Neither make any difference, same thing happens.

The address opens fine in Chrome and Explorer.

Whats going on!?

Hi, I have a website that I use to generate different reports for work. In it I have to click on a calendar button to set the starting and ending date. In IE9 it opens a small window, I select the dates and it puts them in the form. In Firefox 38.0 it opens another tab and when I click on the date I want it just sits there and nothing happens. It will not enter the date in the form. There is no way to manually enter a date - you have to use the button. I tried using Fire IE DLL 1.4.5.4 and that doesn't help either. Anyone have any ideas?
